Would you do this ADHD diagnostic quiz and share your answer?

counsellingresource.com/quizzes/adhd-testing/adhd/

I've done this quiz which is meant to provide an estimate of whether you might have ADHD. It shouldn't be used for diagnosis, there are lot of caveats for it.

But I am thinking "but surely everyone does that" about a lot of the questions. I'd be really interested to get a range of answers from a range of people, if anyone is willing to share.

For what it's worth, I've done it twice on different days, scored 76 and 62. Their threshold for "possible ADHD" is 70+. I don't really believe anyone can score less than 50 and I'd be fascinated to know if I'm wrong.

7! Higher than expected Grin

We used similar quizzes when figuring out DP’s ADHD (diagnosed in his 40s) – scoring off the charts was what convinced him to make an appointment. The nurse and GP were very dismissive (“Very unlikely you’d get to this age without being diagnosed”) till they did their own proper medical quizzes, and promptly referred him!

89 have thought I’m a bit different for a while….

coachmylife · 27/09/2021 22:30

15 for me. Lots of the questions make no sense for me, but I see what they are getting at (DH is adult diagnosed ADHD)

Hallowbat · 27/09/2021 22:30

66, I have bipolar and found I related to some of the questions because of that, I don’t think I have adhd and my psychiatrists don’t either

Rockbird · 27/09/2021 22:31

Suspected ASD but as yet undiagnosed. Never considered ADHD. Maybe I should...

SushiGo · 27/09/2021 22:32

I've just started self referring for adhd assessment after thinking I might have it for the last few years... (or I will when I manage to send them the form back 🤦‍♀️)

chocolateoranges33 · 27/09/2021 22:32

Yellowcar2 · 27/09/2021 22:32

Blankspace4 · 27/09/2021 22:36

I got 90. I had already started to suspect I may have ADHD and my suspicions have only grown now

cariadlet · 27/09/2021 22:36

No ADHD but autistic so some of the social and communication questions bumped my score up.

Asparaguspatchkid · 27/09/2021 22:36

I got 12, no ADHD here

naynayisay · 27/09/2021 22:37

@wtfisgoingonn

It's not that simple though. It's like running a hurdle race when you are 1 ft shorter than the other racers. It's not that you can't do it, it's just you don't do it very well and it takes more out of you. In the hurdle race it's obvious why you are struggling. But imagine you couldn't see the other racers running, just their results. You'd not see why you kept losing. You'd assume the problem was your fitness or technique and try harder and harder, maybe injure or exhaust yourself.

Same with an undiagnosed neurodiversity. I'm pretty successful. The doctor asked why I wanted a referral - what would it do for me. I explained firstly I'd know if I were just undisciplined and need to be harder on myself or if the hurdle really is higher for me, which would change the type of roles I go for or the way I approach the ones I have. Secondly, because I lead project teams so if my brain doesn't work like other people's I need to consider the type of explanations and direction that works for me may not work for most others.

35, no known diagnoses.
Would love to get DH to do this though...

But....
Age has mitigated quite a few circumstances.

I wonder if it is aimed at women?

MissCherryCakeyBun · 27/09/2021 22:40

85 however I suffer from chronic anxiety and have for many years. Both my brothers have ADHD however

Reading through its says "High scores on this examination may result from anxiety, depression or mania. These conditions must be ruled out before a diagnosis of Adult ADD can be made."
