Are there any songs/pieces of music that give you the creeps?

The War of The Worlds soundtrack scares the hell out of me. The Red Weed from that was used during my music exam in High School and I came close to having a panic attack as it had such an effect upon me.

Likewise I had no idea that Forever Autumn was used in WOTW but the first time I heard it, it really spooked me.

Another song that makes me feel strange is Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm by Crash Test Dummies. I don't know why but there's something sinister about it.

Does anyone else experience this effect with certain songs?

Wichita Linesman. The opening lyrics

"I am a linesman for the county, and I drive the main road."

Seems innocuous?!

Carol of the bells

@CiaoForNiao

Jeepers Creepers. Ever since I watched the film.

And Scarborough Fair

And the one from Kill Bill

BorderlineHappy · 26/09/2021 20:42

Anoisagusaris
I remember singing that song on days out with the Summer Project

timesachangin · 26/09/2021 20:45

Oh god and what's that one by Eminem where his girlfriend is in the boot of the car

XenoBitch · 26/09/2021 20:45

@AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii

The creepy music in the little films in sinister 🤮
Ugh, yeah especially the one playing when the family are in the car and it gets set on fire.

Tell Laura I love her - I had a teacher In high school sing it to me every time I went into his lesson - he ended up married to a girl he taught - it was the 90’s and he just carried on teaching afterwards & Small bump is another I had a few miscarriage’s when trying to have d/s 2 and this was playing everywhere after one particularly bad one when I needed a transfusion - I have a sense of impending doom when I hear it and just cry.

Yes that song is so sad

Leader of the pack in a similar vein

I was terrified of the X files music when I was little.

@BorderlineHappy

Wichita Linesman. The opening lyrics and the melody ...ugh. It makes my skin crawl, I cannot listen to it without feeling incredibly creeped out. No idea why..!

Thats one of my favourite songs ever.

It's one of my favourites too, its a beautiful song

Gloomy Sunday was actually banned for a long time because it was linked with suicides. It is horrifically depressing.

MouseholeCat · 26/09/2021 21:27

Maggie May
Pumped Up Kicks
Breezeblocks by Alt-J

All great tunes but everytime I find myself humming them I remember what they are about.

FreddieStandensBFF · 26/09/2021 21:29

@teaandpastries

Seasons in the sun. Terry Jacks version.

Unbearably sad

Oh god yes.
FreddieStandensBFF · 26/09/2021 21:30

@SkiingIsHeaven

The woman having an orgasm in Je T"Aime. I don't want to hear that. Awkward.
Not creepy just extraordinarily unnecessary. Bleurgh.

@MrsBobBlackadder

Video Games by Lana del Ray. It's an amazing song and I love it, but it always makes me feel that something terrible is about to happen Confused
Anything by Lana del Ray is excruciating
YouLando · 26/09/2021 21:50

As a child I remember being totally creeped out by the theme tune and opening credits of 'Arthur C. Clark's Mysterious World', must have been late 70s. Still gives me the heeby-jeebies to think about it.

Rhannion · 26/09/2021 21:52

Strange Fruit by Billie Holliday. It’s an incredible and important song.

Rhannion · 26/09/2021 21:56

Four Women by Nina Simone is another powerful but disturbing song.

petalblossom · 26/09/2021 22:30

Can't stand fairytale of New York. The lyrics are horrible and his voice gets me on edge

RedTitsMcGinty · 26/09/2021 22:52

Someone mentioned it already upthread — Seasons in the Sun gives me the chills.

longtompot · 26/09/2021 23:07

I love Alt-J but that song is just wrong. There are a few questionable songs on that album that when you listen to them properly you're like wtf?! Why would anybody write about holding someone down with soggy clothes and breeze blocks? The explanations aren't great either.
Mymapuddlington · 26/09/2021 23:08

Random one but crocodile shoes has made me ill since I was a toddler. I’d literally scream, run away and vomit. No idea why but even now the thought of it makes me shiver and want to run away.

Maybe a bad thing happened while it was playing 🤔
