Would you be disappointed?

@notacooldad

If premier inn was just the base and it was a good city break I wouldn't be bothered.
Yes, this is how I would feel.
drpaddington · 25/09/2021 08:35

I'd be over the moon!

Skyeheather · 25/09/2021 08:35

I love the Premier Inn especially the all you can eat breakfast in the morning, DP and I used to span that out for over two hours before DC arrived!

DP and I once spent a night in the Premier Inn then a night in the Hilton. I hated the Hilton, told DP never to book there again, Premier Inn won hands down.

JSL52 · 25/09/2021 08:37

Absolutely fine

CornishTiger · 25/09/2021 08:39

If it’s a base to go to and do other things then great. No issue with premier inn.

Skyeheather · 25/09/2021 08:39

@MrsLargeEmbodied

i didnt know they provided breakfast?
You have to book it as an extra, add it at the end if you're booking online. It's all you can eat - cereal, pastries, fruit juices, unlimited hot drinks, all your usual cooked items, toast etc.
CormoranStrike · 25/09/2021 08:40

Sounds like a nice weekend - what’s the issue?

HalzTangz · 25/09/2021 08:40

@neettfeet

Would you be disappointed?
No I wouldn't be disappointed. A night away from home, a night away from the TV or the usual routine.
NatashaRf · 25/09/2021 08:42

My DH and I have different types of "nice nights away"

If it was a nice premier inn near a nice restaurant for a "meal and sex" night away then it would be fine probably.

But wouldn't want a premier inn as a surprise treat.

Disfordarkchocolate · 25/09/2021 08:43

I'd be happy as long as the location was good. Nice beds, clean, friendly staff; what's not to like?

I'd rather spend money on the entertainment for the weekend than the hotel unless it was a special occasion like an anniversary.

MissBattleaxe · 25/09/2021 08:43

It sounds like he's put some thought into planning a treat so in answer to your question, I'd be touched and very appreciative. Definitely not disappointed.

Sorry everyone I fell asleep 🙈 The plan is to go to Newcastle next Saturday for the day /night. It's the one on the quayside. Going for food and cocktails around Newcastle. He said he booked as it's in a good location.
Sounds brilliant to be. You're hardly going to be in the room anyway.

Whenever my husband and I go out in Glasgow we book a room at Motel One, blooming brilliant location, it's somewhere to dump our bags and shower/sleep. I love an overnight stay when we've got a day/night planned.

GoWalkabout · 25/09/2021 08:45

Its not a travelodge.

HalzTangz · 25/09/2021 08:46

@chocolateorangeinhaler

You would be very ungrateful and I'd hope he gets rid of you pronto. Nothing worse than people slagging off gifts or surprises. You sound horrible.
TBH to an extent I agree with you. The BF has booked a trip away. The Premier Inn is just a place to sleep. They are generally clean, tidy and comfortable. I'm sure he will be spending whilst they are out and about in Newcastle. It is ungrateful especially when someone else is footing the bill
thelastgoldeneagle · 25/09/2021 08:48

Newcastle sounds great. It will be really buzzy. Nothing wrong with a Premier Inn!

FAQs · 25/09/2021 08:49

Sounds fine!

TheUnbearable · 25/09/2021 08:55

I’m currently sat outside the gorgeous holiday cottage DH has booked and paid for. I think being treated to a night or two away is lovely and shows thought. As long as it’s really clean I’m ok with wherever. I have stayed at premier Inns a couple of times and they were exceptionally clean. I have also stayed at Tree tops, The Queen had part of her honeymoon there and some other very expensive hotels. All are an experience.

Wheresthebeach · 25/09/2021 08:59

Oh Quayside will be a lovely spot and it sounds like a fab weekend.

We’re you hoping for quaint romantic spot, fireside drinks and country walks? Nothing wrong with that so you may just have different ideas of an ideal weekend away.

Premier inns are really good and we use them all the time, but if I was hoping for a romantic get away they wouldn’t fit the bill. A fun weekend, visiting family or friends absolutely perfect.

Oldraver · 25/09/2021 08:59

@MrsLargeEmbodied

i didnt know they provided breakfast?
Yes mostly

I've only had one bad breakfast and that was at one that was attached to a Hungry Horse (Newton Aycliffe)

Yogsgirl · 25/09/2021 09:03

I'd be happy with it!

I've stayed i PI quite a few times- they are good value and usually centrally located for going out in town/city they are in- at the end of the day you don't go away just to stay in a nice hotel- it's about what you do the rest of the weekend that makes it a good break.

anon12345678901 · 25/09/2021 09:03

I think it sounds great. It's just a base to sleep and have the breakfast (make sure he's got it!) have a lovely time next weekend Thanks

Newcastle is a great night out. And if its the Premier Inn I'm thinking about it is on a great location. You'll have a fantastic time... I'm a bit jealous of you.
Iggly · 25/09/2021 09:04

No need to be so ungrateful! If it’s just the bed for the night, seems good enough to me.

SleepingStandingUp · 25/09/2021 09:04

So he's sensibly picked a decent, clean hotel with a good location instead of wasting money on a "fancy" hotel that's probably as comfy and clean but costs more for the name. He's planned other activities. That sounds great.

MolyHolyGuacamole · 25/09/2021 09:05

Is it at least a Premier Inn Plus room? I had a nice night away in one, wouldn't have a problem with it at all. It's about the whole experience
