@Titsywoo

I saw in the news that Octopus is looking into taking over Bulb so I am sitting tight for now but refusing any more increase in payments that they are requesting
That may change as they’ve taken over the customers who were with Avro (though they may still look at bulb as an opportunity to become a big fish). Octopus were quoting more than £100 a month higher than we currently pay bulb - and we’ve built up a healthy credit which, if my calculations are correct based on last years usage and the forthcoming price rise, will see us through till April/May next year when added to our current monthly payments

@84wood

How do you refuse to increase? They wanted to up my monthly payment from £245 to £303. Im £125 in credit. I went on to refuse but still had to up to £273. How does that work? Any advice gratefully received.
I've found that as well. But if you call them and explain what you want to increase it to they will change it for you. They give you a little spiel about winter and summer payments but they will do it when you ask.

Thanks so much. I did this morning and kept my payment as is and got a refund. I was rather direct!

Anyone else having trouble accessing their Bulb account? I want to add a reading before the rates increase tomorrow but the site won't let me input the readings

Spoke to dm earlier, she's in credit by about £600 & can't get hold of anyone..
FAQs · 30/09/2021 19:18

But what makes you think they’ve gone bust? They are always difficult to get hold of.

She told me they had, she'd heard from a neighbour so maybe not... Sorry for the confusion if they haven't!
Jasmin82 · 30/09/2021 22:26

I've added my reading no problem via the app a few minutes ago.

Being a Bulb customer for nearly 3 years (happy) I too received received a proposed increase from £85 to £140. A bit shocked as although I expected an increase, not that much. I have an online (paperless) Dual Fuel Account. I generally conserve energy usage but when it's cold I keep warm.

Read this thread and called them this afternoon - proposing £125, to be reviewed in 3 months - after a bit of holding (to quite pleasnt music) Bulb suggested I pay £68, less than I do now! I said I'd rather keep it at £85 which was agreed.

I really like being with Bulb, hence 3 years without switching - they're based on 'environmentally-sound' power sources and if you're on a low income like me, they make applying for the Warm Home Discount (up to £140 pa really easy) so I can afford to choose ethically.

I also like my Agreement with them - I'm not locked in to a 1-2yr contract and can leave anytime.

StarryStarrySocks · 01/10/2021 20:22

I'm starting to wonder what is actually going on with them. I was £200 in credit a couple of weeks ago, before paying Sept's direct debit (£70).
I got an email today saying that I'd used £20 of energy in September. And yet I am now suddenly only £190 in credit (all numbers made up but that's the gist of it). I know there will be standing charges and what have you but surely that can't be right? That the total bill would be £80 when I'd only used £20 worth of energy? Hmm

PerkingFaintly · 02/10/2021 17:50

What date does your DD actually come out? My account has a few days between when they tell me the month's usage, and my DD hitting the account.

So it always looks like there's a big discrepancy and the account is in debit during those few days. Then the DD goes out and I'm in credit again.

MagpieMary · 26/10/2021 18:16

my account has mysteriously been closed!! i am panicking..

Seeingadistance · 26/10/2021 18:24

Just checked and mine is still there and looks ok.

Looks like we may need to worry

apricotdreams · 29/10/2021 19:16

I've been reading about this today. Not good Confused

lilly7221w · 22/11/2021 13:36

I've just cancelled my DD. Pain in the arse, id prefer not to switch.

Gooseysgirl · 23/11/2021 07:18

It's a real shame 😕 The advice is to not do anything for now, so we're just going to wait and see what happens. Doubtful of a better deal anywhere else by switching as prices are high anyway.

EishetChayil · 23/11/2021 07:35

Be careful doing that if you haven't informed Bulb. I think it can be classed as fraud.
