Any one else Checking the news every couple of hours just in case they've gone bust?

Thanks for the person who suggested downloading your statements - just done it!

Does anyone know why they are asking me to submit a meter reading for Gas when I have a smart meter? Surely that's one of the main points of a smart meter, that you don't need to submit meter readings?? Or have I totally missed something?

Saladovercrispsanyday · 23/09/2021 18:31

@AnyFucker

Some thrive on drama

You know fuck all about anyone else’s situation

You’ve told us You said you had £300 credit You pursued getting it They said £27 credit

I said easy for you to check whether accurate

Saladovercrispsanyday · 23/09/2021 18:31

My mistake was saying “some”

Saladovercrispsanyday · 23/09/2021 18:33

I think some people be will be really anxious but not researched the issue

And then they see threads like this - panicking

But without actually looking closely at the issue.

You think they’re lying re the credit

But it’s straightforward for you to check and prove otherwise

EchoNan · 23/09/2021 18:54

Also with Bulb. £164 in credit. Which I will leave where it is for now.

I pay £100 per month dual fuel. They want me to increase my direct debit to £185 per month. Not something I'll be doing. I'll top up as/if needed, from savings. Not everyone can do that, I realise.

A relative, who lives alone in a small flat, is about £500 in credit, (after a year with Bulb). So have passed on the helpful advice here. They didn't realise their credit wasn't coming off their bills, but building up. Thanks so much for the good advice here.

wizzler · 23/09/2021 19:29

Thanks for the tip about downloading statements and im sitting tight. Hope they are ok as I like their environmental stance.

sparkle17 · 23/09/2021 19:52

I hadn't submitted a reading Inna while. The estimates are way down in my actual use. I have now submitted actual readings but my statement doesn't update until 16th October. Can I ask them to update before then so I know how much I'm actually in credit by. I am massively in credit at the moment but I suspect it will be a lot less.

userxx · 23/09/2021 20:18

@sparkle17 doesn't it show the amount of credit in the app once you submit the readings ?

Jasmin82 · 23/09/2021 20:38

Currently with Bulb after moving from the shower of shite that is Scottish Power last year. I'm pretty happy with them, however really worried that, should they go under, Scottish Power are the government supplier of choice. I had enough issues with them last time.

rslsys · 23/09/2021 20:51

Hmm - Just decided to check my Bulb account and download my latest statement, only to find the iPhone App is 'down for maintenance'

PerkingFaintly · 23/09/2021 20:57

Might be one or two people downloading statements just now rslsys.

Especially slackers me who are not very diligent about these things...Smile

runwithme · 23/09/2021 20:57

Martin Lewis has just done a bit on the fuel bill increase and mentioned Bulb. It might be worth looking on catch up. Also, he mentioned that your credit will be carried over to your new provider, so you won't lose it

sparkle17 · 23/09/2021 20:58

No it doesn't update until my next statement I think.

rslsys · 23/09/2021 21:32

Panic over, Bulb back online. Downloaded my statement. £250 in credit and they are 'recommending' I up my monthly payment by £53 to 'cover future shortfalls' !

purdypuma · 23/09/2021 21:56

I'm with Bulb as well as is my mum. Desperately hoping they don't go bust as they've been very good & a darn sight cheaper than my previous providers. I also have 250.00 in credit to cover my winter usage.

MrsWooster · 23/09/2021 22:31

Thanks-just downloaded my statements.
I had the call to up my payments about 6 weeks ago and huffed off to USwitch to move suppliers but they said I couldn’t do any better, so I really hope Bulb don’t turn up their toes…

rslsys · 24/09/2021 08:08

Just a thought, we have no gas infrastructure where we live so we only get electricity from Bulb. They claim that they supply 100% renewable electricity. The price of wind and sunshine has not gone up, so presumably if my electricity price goes up, it is to subsidise those with gas in their supply package?

Love2cycle · 24/09/2021 08:59

I can view my balance on Avro now, and statement summaries, but not the actual statements themselves yet.

How bulb buys its electricity

AmyDudley · 24/09/2021 12:33

I'm with them, they almost doubled my monthly payments a month ago (I wasn't in debit they were just projecting that I needed more credit to cover winter usage) I'm now £70 in credit and they've just emailed me a couple of days ago asking me to top it up with £200 so I am even more in credit. (I'm not topping it up).

I'm hoping they don't go bust because apart from this recent upping of my payments they've been good, and were by far the cheapest when I signed up. But I'm not especially worried because it seems you and your credit are just transferred to another company and I guess that if that happens I'll just shop around and see if I can get a cheaper deal elsewhere.

StarryStarrySocks · 24/09/2021 13:35

I'm only with Bulb because they were set up as the supplier when I moved into my flat and I couldn't be bothered switching! I'm also in credit (£200 odd) but I'm expecting that to disappear over the winter.
Have taken screenshots and downloaded statements and will wait and see what happens.

84wood · 29/09/2021 19:52

How do you refuse to increase? They wanted to up my monthly payment from £245 to £303. Im £125 in credit. I went on to refuse but still had to up to £273. How does that work? Any advice gratefully received.

Good question. I am £200 in credit and they want to increase from 100 to 150 per month. Minimum they will accept is 136.
starfish4 · 29/09/2021 20:21

Yep, we're with Bulb and decided to sit tight, as we're thinking that if we're mid move to another company, it might complicate things. I gave them meter readings last week (and took photos), as well as downloading statements and taking a copy of the statement summary with current balance after this month's DD.

They've suggested we put out monthly payments up by £20, but I've ignored that. We're about £100 more in credit this time last year, on top of which DH no longer wfh and DD has gone back to uni now, so thinking it'll all balance out.

Titsywoo · 29/09/2021 22:41

I saw in the news that Octopus is looking into taking over Bulb so I am sitting tight for now but refusing any more increase in payments that they are requesting
