Addicted to certain smells. Any favourites? Does anyone else have this?

I've noticed recently that I am addicted to pledge original polish.

I spray it every day to soak up the smell. I love it.

Anyone else the same? Yes, it's a slow day. My DS has Covid so we are self isolating.

Petrol.

Spraying it around your house is not recommended though. Which is annoying.

Someone should make a petrol-scented candle. I’d buy that.

XenoBitch · 23/09/2021 01:16

I love the smell of cut grass. Not seen a candle for that one, sadly.
Is also a bit frowned upon to be face planting myself into the ground at the local park and inhaling that sweet scent directly into my nostril tubes.

This might not be a weird one but I love the smell of Fairy non bio pods and fabric conditioner. I've always used it for my little ones clothes and every time I smell it, it reminds me of all the love and cuddles I have with him that I now wash my own clothes with it as well so I can smell him on me. I wish they can make candles because I absolutely love that smell.

Vicks Vaporub. I can’t explain it but I love it.

JaneJeffer · 23/09/2021 02:11

Hot tar. I open the car window at roadworks and inhale.

Guineapigbridge · 23/09/2021 02:14

My dog's feet smell earthy and beautiful

careerchangeperhaps · 23/09/2021 02:23

Cat paws

Play-doh

Storysaurusandcrochet · 23/09/2021 02:29

Tomato plants. When you walk into a greenhouse especially.

I like creosote too.

Insert1x20p · 23/09/2021 07:19

yes to creosote

Coriander is my fave though. It's like cat nip to me- if it wouldn't get me thrown out of Waitrose, I'd roll in it.

Maneandfeathers · 23/09/2021 10:04

Bit strange but horses! Especially a tack room!

Imcatmum · 23/09/2021 10:05

Cucumber! If the kids have been munching some and I get a whiff, it stops me in my tracks to enjoy.

Sparklfairy · 23/09/2021 10:08

Sudocrem, especially when its been on your skin for a while Confused

I think it reminds me of childhood, its instantly calming.

SignOnTheWindow · 23/09/2021 10:43

Coal tar soap
Musty damp flannels (yes, I know!)
Camphor

DopamineDresser · 23/09/2021 11:08

I can get behind a lot of these (Fairy, grass) but for me - the smell you get waking through a pine forest on a hot, sunny day.

Reminds me vividly of lovely family holidays in Spain as a child

DopamineDresser · 23/09/2021 11:10

walking not waking, bloody autocorrect

BirdyBee · 23/09/2021 11:13

The smell of bonfires especially in autum and winter

FWBNC · 23/09/2021 11:16

Nearly all of these, though I'd pass on the damp musty facecloths! If I didn't worry what it was doing to my brain cells I'd have a jerry can of petrol in the house!!

Fortunately the smell of freshly cut grass doesn't seem too lethal!

I love the smell of the sea too!

Cats & dogs heads & paws, babies...

& coffee...that one I can indulge in right now!!

FWBNC · 23/09/2021 11:17

Oh one that hadn't been mentioned that I LOVE is the smell of the 'bang bit' in Christmas Crackers & old fashioned kids gun caps!!

3catsandcounting · 23/09/2021 11:21

I bought some white truffle salt - keep opening it to get a whiff! Tastes divine too!

Pinkstegosaurus · 23/09/2021 11:23

Vanish, fairy, flash traditional French soap, the smell of the inside of a garage but it specifically has to have a tumbledrier in it for full effect for a combination of clean washing and petrol.

I hate eating tomatoes but love the smell of the leaves/vine.
There’s something they use to lay roads that smells just like jackfruit. I like that as well, though my nose and brain always freeze for a sec in confusion.
Anyone else like the smell of strong sun on a concrete pavement? Blush

SolitaryTree · 23/09/2021 11:32

Blown out candles
Old books - especially nice when you flip the pages and breathe in the smell!
Lemongrass
Cinnamon
Cherry tunes (but the old square ones)
The smell of my DC hair/head. I know it’s typically a newborn thing but even now I love to breathe in their smell when they hug me at teen and almost teen age!
The smell of pinky/purple (I can’t explain this one. There is a smell that I can only explain as pinky/purple)

Scautish · 23/09/2021 11:33

Fire lighters.
Sponges
