Addicted to certain smells. Any favourites? Does anyone else have this?

I've noticed recently that I am addicted to pledge original polish.

I spray it every day to soak up the smell. I love it.

Anyone else the same? Yes, it's a slow day. My DS has Covid so we are self isolating.

Oh my goodness and yes to tomato plant leaves! I love to rub the leaves and then smell it on my hands until I next wash them!
I also like to do this with another plant but I’m not sure if it’s name. It’s got fairly vibrant green leaves with a touch of yellow, thick leaves that snap rather than tear and it releases a really strong smell!

Freshly cut grass
Petrichor (the ground when it's rained on after a dry period)
Sweaty cat paws
Cats' fur when they've been out on a winter's day
Horses
My pillow when the weather's been hot for a few nights and it's a bit sweaty Blush
Beeswax
Creosote
Petrol
Sea air - fresh and salty
My own armpits when I need a shower. Gross, I know, but true. Not fresh sweat, that's manky, just the slightly unwashed smell. I love it Blush

@XenoBitch Yankee Candle did a grass candle. You might get one on eBay perhaps.

Horses most definitely not strange..one of the best smells in the world (if you like horses 😅)..we keep our saddles and bridles in the house, the smell of the leather is one of the perks! And the saddle conditioner? Wow! 😍

SwedishEdith · 23/09/2021 19:48

Coriander as well - pure perfume. And aniseed - star anise, Pernod. Again, would wear as a perfume.

EcoCustard · 23/09/2021 19:56

Bitumen. I love the smell of it. I sometimes have to pass by a place that uses the stuff and I love it, I slow down or stop if I can and have a good sniff. No idea why, DH finds it very odd. It’s like the smell of kerosene when you step off a plane in a hot country that gets me too.

TSSDNCOP · 23/09/2021 20:48

Jet fuel. The air ambulance landed near work during lockdown and suddenly it smelled blissfully like holidays.

The back of my sons neck.

millievanille · 23/09/2021 22:07

Christmas trees 🎄 I actually walk around christmas tree yards every December and sniff the branches

Crunchymum · 23/09/2021 22:12

Two part filler.

It gets me right at the back of the throat and I just want to eat it (I don't, obviously). It just makes my sense of smell and taste feel so "connected".

I agree with cut grass , and hot tar but my favourite is washing when its been on the line until late evening or over night ( shock horror )

Impatientwino · 23/09/2021 22:37

Another vote for coriander

My children's pyjamas - if I'm changing their beds I have a quick sniff of their pj tops before I tuck them under their pillows. I had a very sad, horrible hospital stay once and I asked DH to bring me in my DS pj top to sniff and sleep with. So calming.

Swarfega - reminds me of my dad working in the garage when I was little

Very cliche but the air straight after it's rained.

I found a wax melt bar called 'Toasted Marshmallow' and I've bought about a billion of them. Catch myself sniffing them in the cupboard most days! It's like a really deep almost burnt caramel but with an almost perfumed heady note but smells sort of salty/savoury too so it's not sickly sweet. I can't explain it buts it's delicious!

During pregnancy I couldn't get enough of the smell of Flash Bathroom. I still like it now too, but during pregnancy it just smelled amazing

NashvilleQueen · 23/09/2021 22:56

The bit on an old fashioned matchbox that you use to strike the match. No idea if if even still exists.

My dogs fur when he's been out in the cold air.

The smell of the Christmas decorations box.

Tomato plants especially in a greenhouse.

I love sniffing my guinea pig's fur
Dontfuckingsaycheese · 23/09/2021 23:01

New inflatables - like arm bands and paddling pools. ❤️ Ds used to have a plasticy bath book. I could have snorted it whole!!

chickenandchipsinabasket · 23/09/2021 23:02

The guinea pigs don't mind me sniffing their fur, I don't think, but they sometimes give me a look as though to say "what are you doing, weird human??!"

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 23/09/2021 23:03

Smell is my super-power. COVID had me terrified I’d lose it. I smell everything! I can’t fold clean washing without regular snorts.

cookiesandtea · 23/09/2021 23:04

Cut grass
Petrol
New books - I could fan the pages near my nose! Yum!
A weird one - Photocopied paper.

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 23/09/2021 23:05

Ooh guinea pigs have a really strong biscuity ammonia smell don’t they? ❤️ I also love burying my nose in ddog’s fur when he’s been to the beach. Salty Sea Dog. Perfect ❤️

Unsure1983 · 23/09/2021 23:06

Agreed on inflatables and hot tar. Bleach i adore.
