Free-standing baths in bedrooms. Wrong in so many ways.

Looking at some hotels for a weekend away. Who on earth thinks that having a bath in a bedroom is a good idea? Is it some sort of romantic ideal, like a bubble bath advert?

As a big fan of wallowing in the bath, I like to do it in the bathroom, on my own. Not when my DH is lying on the bed watching the TV in front of me.
Bedrooms for beds, bathrooms for baths!

Agree!! Puts me right off!

Snoken · 19/09/2021 15:39

Agree! Also, it makes your bedroom humid. Horrible!

Mrsjayy · 19/09/2021 15:43

I think it's supposed to be "romantic" and luxurious isn't it but there is nothing romantic about the way I clamber in and out a bath. I would never book a room with a bath

DramaAlpaca · 19/09/2021 15:44

Totally agree

Lampzade · 19/09/2021 15:44

I thought that I was the only one who didn’t like this.
Not romantic at all

Katisha · 19/09/2021 15:47

Couldn't agree more. Stops me booking those hotels. Baths are private pleasures plus I don't fancy the long term effect of all that steam and condensation in the bedrooms.
We had a newly refurbished gite in Normandy a couple of years ago with a fancy new wet room which included the loo - all open plan no bloody door

Mrsjayy · 19/09/2021 15:54

You see them on ,4 in a bed the luxury B&B owner is so proud of their bath and everyone else just screws their faces up a them.

MrsMoastyToasty · 19/09/2021 16:04

When I see an image of a bath in a bedroom all I can think of is damp bedding.

Mrsjayy · 19/09/2021 16:10

Yes everything must be damp or you need to bath with Windows open ?

MinnieMountain · 19/09/2021 16:32

I stayed in a cheap hotel once that had a shower cubicle surrounded by carpet and a slightly too small curtain. Luckily it was only for 1 night.

FusciasBright21 · 19/09/2021 16:35

I like it Blush I love a bath but get bored easily so enjoy having a bit of company! Plus any bath feels luxurious to me (only have a shower room at home).

I wouldn't have one in my own home, as pp said it must make the room damp?!

marmaladehound · 19/09/2021 16:37

Totally agree. hate them!

bigbluebus · 19/09/2021 16:39

A friend stayed in a room with one in and sent me a picture. They were in a ground floor room and the main bedroom window didn't have frosted glass! I thought it was weird.

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 19/09/2021 16:42

Went on a weekend away with the husband and the toilet was in the room, behind a 3 foot high wee curved wall Confused

I guess that means you can chat over the wall as you shit. Lovely.

UseOfWeapons · 19/09/2021 16:54

Absolutely not!
Bad idea, probably some design thing that looks ok on paper, when there’s not enough room for a decent en suite.

newmumwithquestions · 19/09/2021 17:12

I love them. Wouldn’t have one in my house due to damp though. But to me a bath is a luxurious thing and should not be in the same room as a toilet.

ExConstance · 19/09/2021 17:17

I really enjoy staying in a plush hotel with a huge bathtub in the bedroom. Very romantic,Especially if you drink champagne while bathing.

TowelStripes · 19/09/2021 17:18

I love them!

Miliao · 19/09/2021 17:20

Sounds great, I get so bored in the bath, would be great to have someone to chat to!

NuffSaidSam · 19/09/2021 17:26

Bedrooms for beds, bathrooms for baths!

You've got my vote.

charliebear78 · 19/09/2021 17:46

I suffer from IBS, Once when my partner and I went away for the night we stayed at a Hotel with the shower sort of open plan into the bedroom but the toilet and sink where behind a saloon type door(so open top and bottom!!)
I had to send him out of the room entirely when I needed the loo, He paced the coridoors

Lunaballoon · 19/09/2021 17:52

Totally agree. Give me a clean functioning shower in an en-suite with a door any day!

DillonPanthersTexas · 19/09/2021 17:58

I agree, I think people like the idea of such a bath but the reality nobody wants to be seen by their partner as they are washing their bumhole.

KillingMeDeftly · 19/09/2021 19:02

You think that's bad OP, I was once looking for a hotel room in Berlin to share with a friend and found one that was very central and a good price. But upon closer inspection I found that the toilet was a frosted glass cubicle in the middle of the room!

Mrsjayy · 19/09/2021 19:07

Oh I've seen a picture of a German hotel room with frosted wall toilet !
