You have £60 burning a hole in your pocket...

Since your January birthday.

What are you buying?

No candles, dd1's already earmarked one for me for Christmas.

No craft stuff as I already have several projects on the go (although I'm easily persuaded to try new stuff...)

No smellies, notebooks, or pens. I'm trying my best to use up what I have already!

Definitely not garden stuff, I do bare minimum out there to keep it tidy & keep the bird feeders topped up.

I thought about a tea pot and some nice tea maybe, if anyone's knowledgeable about these things? I do like to sit in silence with a cuppa, very first thing in a morning, before anyone else is up.

& before anyone jumps in with "it's spending for the sake of it", it may well be but it's my money & I'd like to spend it on something for me; someone here may suggest something that's not occurred to me :)

I'd buy a nice pot of skincare - day moisturiser of some sort maybe. I use Cult51 and it's £50.

Fireblanket · 18/09/2021 19:05

I'd buy a lovely jumper or cardy to snuggle up in during the cooler evenings.

JaninaDuszejko · 18/09/2021 19:06

Perfume.

Katshouldnotswim · 18/09/2021 19:06

Get an online order from fortnum and mason for a China mug, some loose tea and some biscuits , jam, chocolate almonds any thing else that catches your eye.

HungryHippo11 · 18/09/2021 19:06

I would probably spend it on a nice meal or day out.

Athinginitself · 18/09/2021 19:07

Definitely a jumper and maybe a nice gin.

TreacsPotNoodle · 18/09/2021 19:08

I'd put it towards a nice pair of winter boots or a new coat!

orangejuicer · 18/09/2021 19:09

Either towards new Docs, or use it for a treat fund - coffees, takeaway, cinema.

Makinglists · 18/09/2021 19:09

Books and/or shoes.

TooWicked · 18/09/2021 19:09

A “tea for one” China teapot, cup & saucer, and the tea advent calendar from Whittard.

Massage

MrsDThomas · 18/09/2021 19:10

If its been there since January, it shows you dont “need” to use it.

Being practical, id put it on the leccy

ParkheadParadise · 18/09/2021 19:10

Perfume or a handbag.

Pascha · 18/09/2021 19:12

I'd like to put it towards a tank of petrol winter boots.

glasshalfsomething · 18/09/2021 19:13

Cahsmere socks. Best thing ever.

WouldBeGood · 18/09/2021 19:13

Bee teapot and cup and a box of twinings Assam teabags

lucysmam · 18/09/2021 19:14

No, MrsD, I don't need to. But I usually end up using my birthday money for something with the girls & would like to treat myself with it this time.

My 40th is coming in January & my dad will likely give me money then too so I could save it until then maybe & buy something bigger 🤷‍♀️

Brollywasntneededafterall · 18/09/2021 19:18

Nice jumper and some cosy socks.
My dd are always borrowing my socks then I never see them again.

ItWearsTheBatteriesOut · 18/09/2021 19:20

@glasshalfsomething

Cahsmere socks. Best thing ever.
Not cashmere because it is cruel but a really nice pair of warm socks. Alpaca
confessionsOfa · 18/09/2021 19:21

I'd just wait till I see something I really want

Blueberryblueberry · 18/09/2021 19:24

If you have extra money I think it's really nice to buy a really fancy version of something you use all time time - so couple of bits from fortnum and mason (nice tea and biscuits or jam/marmalade?), A really expensive body oil, some turtle dove cashmere wrist warmers, or a lovely vase (vase may be on my birthday list!)

notacooldad · 18/09/2021 19:24

Tickets for gigs is my priority.
Or train tickets to a city I have been to or want to go back to.

Theres a few dresses on EMP that have got my eye on so maybe one of them. Or Lady V, I wa browsing in there this afternoon and there's some new stock in.

I just bought a pair of Sweaty Betty leggings fo £75 quid so I may have put birthday money towards them.

My mum always sends me money on the strict instructions that it is for me and it is not to go in the 'house keeping pot' as she calls it!

notacooldad · 18/09/2021 19:27

Actually I posted about all the possible things I probably would have bought ( and these are things I'll get myself over the next couple of weeks( I forgot the most obvious one ( for me) some new board games!!! The more obscure, the better!
