Just had ambulance out, what do I do now?

Hello I had ambulance out two hours ago. Woke up, felt like I was going to faint, massive ringing in ears, pjns and needles, clammy, can't explain how awful I felt.

They came, did ECG, asked if I ate a lot of bananas, I dont, stayed for a long while watching ecg and looking up results on phone. They said basically it was my choice if I wanted them to take me in or try and get some sleep.

I am alone with DS so thought i didnt want to drag him in.

Since then, I still have that weird head feeling, and pins and needles and still feel just awful. I cant sleep.

Should I go back in? I dont want to have to take DS with me. I have no one who could take him. Will they even let him come in with me?

What a well behaved son you have. I’m glad they found nothing that needed urgent treatment. It could just be that you are coming down with a bad cold/flu but it’s too early to tell by taking your temp.
Have you taken a covid test? 3 people I know have tested positive in the last couple weeks and they spent a few days just feeling off before feeling ill.

Glad it's just vertigo op. Although I know this is awful I mean rather than a heart attack or something. Your son sounds great. Bless him! Hopefully you will be feeling normal again soon and the two of you can spend next Saturday doing something fun that's not 8 hours in A&E!

Did you get any Meds??

Mycatcontrolsmymovements · 18/09/2021 20:06

Prochlorperazine but the onsite pharmacy had closed,so went to local one but they couldn't do anything with hospital script. So rang 111 and then have prescribed it electronically to the local one instead. Bit of farce as my local one had also closed by the time the 111 OOH had managed to do that. So will get it tomorrow now.

I've been prescribed that in the past. My only issue with it is that it blocks the nerve signals from your ears to your brain so it slows down your recovery but it will help while it's so bad!

I have nerve damage in my ear which means I have vertigo episodes 2-3 times per year and have done for about the last 10 years.

Look up vestibular recovery exercises, these are the best way to get your normal balance back and get rid of that awful feeling like you are walking on a bouncy castle!

The cawthorne cooksey exercises help tremendously you can start lying down if sitting standing is too hard.

I had major surgery recently, after an accident, my BP has been high, so I was a bit panicked when I when
I was feeling like I'd just got off a fairground ride, I phoned 111 & was sent to an OOH. Diagnosed with BPPV (positional vertigo) 3 weeks on it's much better, but still hasn't gone completely and is manifesting in daft ways too.

I hope you feel better soon

Might be a good time to have a serious think about what you'd do about DS if you needed to go into hospital.

Take care x
