Just had ambulance out, what do I do now?

Hello I had ambulance out two hours ago. Woke up, felt like I was going to faint, massive ringing in ears, pjns and needles, clammy, can't explain how awful I felt.

They came, did ECG, asked if I ate a lot of bananas, I dont, stayed for a long while watching ecg and looking up results on phone. They said basically it was my choice if I wanted them to take me in or try and get some sleep.

I am alone with DS so thought i didnt want to drag him in.

Since then, I still have that weird head feeling, and pins and needles and still feel just awful. I cant sleep.

Should I go back in? I dont want to have to take DS with me. I have no one who could take him. Will they even let him come in with me?

I would get checked out. An imbalance of electrolytes especially Sodium/potassium ratio A( high potassium low sodium) can be an indication of something more serious such as Addison’s disease

Yarnandneedles · 18/09/2021 07:49

Not sure why that random capital A crept in there.

Mummyoflittledragon · 18/09/2021 07:52

I’ve started to have vertigo from time to time. It sounds like that. But I think it would be wise to get checked out as you are concerned. And just because it sounds like vertigo, it doesn’t mean it is or that there is no underlying cause.

Gizlotsmum · 18/09/2021 07:53

You need checking out, could you ask any of DS friends parents for help? I would happily have an extra kid tag along to our ( not expensive plans) and even overnight in a situation like this.

Mycatcontrolsmymovements · 18/09/2021 07:55

I've called for a taxi, still feel just completely weird. I dont know how to explain it, like I'm going to daint at any time and pins and needles ate not easing. I will take DS and then call around to find someone if I do get admitted. Hoping that it will be more a tests and then leave thing

Text some of DS’s friends? I would very happily have a classmate of my DC’s in this situation, even if the parent wasn’t someone I know well.

MrsBobDylan · 18/09/2021 07:59

I'm sure one of DS' friends Mum would have him - it would be better to drop him off before you go to the hospital.

I would happily take a child at short notice, whatever the circumstances. I think you need to concentrate on yourself right now and going into to the hospital will you is very stressful for a child.

Mycatcontrolsmymovements · 18/09/2021 08:01

DS doesn't have anybfriendsnlike that that I could text

I had a similar experience recently. As folk have said it could be a number of different things - most likely low blood pressure, electrolytes etc.
If you’ve had any other symptoms over the last few months - any breathlessness, feeling faint, fainting I would definitely get it checked out with your GP.

Chamonixshoopshoop · 18/09/2021 08:18

I've felt a bit like what you're describing, I had a virus once and wasn't aware I did and felt suddenly faint and bloody awful, it was like nothing I'd had before. It was quite scary. I've also had labyrinthitis and felt like this, that was a very strange illness.
I hope you get to the bottom of it Op. I came on to say it might be anxiety, as I also have anxiety and it presents it the way you describe and can come out of no where! But it goes seem you've ruled that out.

Roystonv · 18/09/2021 08:21

Wishing you all the best

CornishTiger · 18/09/2021 08:25

Good luck. Take a phone charger. Do you need to ring 111 before you go in. You do here

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 18/09/2021 08:30

Hope it's nothing sinister, best of luck.

ohwhattodowithmylife · 18/09/2021 08:31

I think you should ask someone to have your son, hope you are ok

Pissinthepottyplease · 18/09/2021 08:34

Do you have a school WhatsApp group? I would put a message on their saying you need to go to a and e for a suspected heart issue and can anyone take him.

Neonplant · 18/09/2021 08:38

Hope you get some answers op. I'd definitely go to a & e if you still feel awful. Take supplies for you and ds it could be a while.

JinglingHellsBells · 18/09/2021 08:41

It sounds possibly like labyrinthitis- a type of ear infection @Mycatcontrolsmymovements

NHS labyrinthitis symptoms

A friend had this- she fainted and felt sick and couldn't stand up owing to dizziness. It came on the moment she got up. It needs treating with anti-sickness/ dizziness meds.

But you need to see a dr.

JinglingHellsBells · 18/09/2021 08:43

OP If it IS labyrinthitis, you should not drive as you will be a danger to yourself and others.

Get a taxi or get a friend to help.

ThePlumVan · 18/09/2021 08:51

My sister does emergency fostering and often has children at no notice in exactly this situation.
Go in and they will refer to SS. It’s absolutely what they are for.
Hope you’re feeling better soon xx

Katy4321 · 18/09/2021 08:53

Hope you feel better soon and agree you should get it checked out soon. People i know, double vaccinated and then have had covid have mentioned dizziness, so probably a good idea to check that. But as people say here many things could cause this, so if still feeling rough better to seek professional help.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 18/09/2021 08:56

were you lying on your back op?
that used to happen to me on my back.
hope you can get things resolved

Passmeamenuatthetottenham · 18/09/2021 08:58

Don't you have to eat like 100 bananas a day to raise your potassium levels to anything problematic?

ThePotatoCroquette · 18/09/2021 09:03

If your ECG was fine and blood pressure and everything, then I would have an isotonic drink or two and take an antihistamine, see how you feel. GP on Monday though

MrsLargeEmbodied · 18/09/2021 09:08

agree it could have been positional vertigo

MrsLargeEmbodied · 18/09/2021 09:10

but get it checked out appropriately op
