Things you love about Autumn

I enjoy summer but I don't cope with the heat well and am just starting to think about what I'm looking forward to as the seasons change :
Autumn walks, crunching through the leaves
Hot chocolate
Misty mornings
Making lots of winter warmer type meals
Christmas shopping
Snuggling under a blanket on the sofa
Lighting all my candles
Halloween and Bonfire Night
Cosy nights in
Buying new winter wardrobe
Lying in bed listening to the wind an rain
The half term and Easter holidays
Christmas is around the corner
TV really improves and Strictly is back!
I'm sure there's more but these sprung to mind. What is everyone else looking forward to?

I love the summer, but I enjoy not to worry about my dog eating people’s picnics in the park as the weather turns cooler!

Blessex · 14/09/2021 22:26

Going to collect chestnuts and roasting them on a fire. Just a dash of salt. Burning your hands on them.

HerRoyalRisesAgain · 14/09/2021 22:31

Crunchy leaves
Cheggy hunting
Pumpkin spice everything
Cosy knitwear

I'm hoping for a long period of Indian summer, crisp mornings, golden light, long shadows.

GattinaGattona · 14/09/2021 22:54

September, for me it’s like the beginning of the year, we should have a New Years celebration in September instead of January.
Back to school, holidays have finished, put your summer wardrobe away, clean the house, stop shaving your legs 😅

Littleants · 15/09/2021 00:48

Ooh I do miss a bit of Lobscouse!

My daughter’s birthday

When the fireworks finally end

C0nn1e · 15/09/2021 00:58

Jumpers
Boots
Lighting the fire
Being cold
Long walks in the cold with the dogs
Snuggly throws
Proper hearty casseroles
Good things to watch on TV

Laaaaa · 15/09/2021 01:24

That fresh autumn smell

Nice juicy tangerines

JustGiveMeGin · 15/09/2021 06:19

Long sleeved tops and jeans Grin I love the heat of summer but sadly I am not a 6' tall waif that can effortlessly pull off a wispy dress and not much else!
Autumn is just about warm enough for me not to freeze to death but cool enough for me to dress how I like without feeling self conscious.

Sorry OP, probably not the spirit of your thread Blush

devildeepbluesea · 15/09/2021 06:22

Absolutely nothing 🤣

I'm a sun worshipper, autumn simply represents the end of summer, and a long, damp,.cold winter.

WorriedMillie · 15/09/2021 06:29

Autumn makes me miserable, I’ve got horses, so the shortening days are a PITA, so I need this thread to cheer me up!

I like an excuse to drink mulled wine
It’s my first autumn with the soup maker, so I’m going to hammer that
Blackberry picking and crumble making
Horses tucked up and munching hay of an evening

KateTheEighth · 15/09/2021 06:32

Same here!

I think autumn and winter are so depressing

Dark, cold, wet and relentless!

lannistunut · 15/09/2021 06:34

I also like autumn, we had our first leek & potato soup last week, the kids all commented on it.

I love it getting cold enough to really want warming food.

The trees changing.

Amazing spider webs in the garden.

Harvesting all the lavender and making lavender bags for Christmas.

Plus new season telly!

grafittiartist · 15/09/2021 06:40

All of it!! Love autumn the best!

DwangelaForever · 15/09/2021 06:44

I really love dark nights - it makes the day seem shorter and less daunting. And makes it seem like you have more free time in the evening, you could be doing something and it is pitch black outside and you realise oh it's only half 8. I love the chill in the air and walking through the park and seeing all the leaves, collecting conkers with my kids. Wearing jumpers and boots and scarfs and cardis - just more my style too, I feel like I'm having a nervous breakdown getting ready during the summer as I have nothing to wear lol. I just love autumn and winter. I hate the summer with a passion.

ListenLinda · 15/09/2021 07:00

The way you can smell the seasons changing. Autumn has it’s distinct unique smell. It makes me feel nostalgic for my childhood years and the start of a new school/uni year.
Getting my uggs back out & my knitted jumpers.
The lead up to halloween, bonfire night & christmas.
Just everything about it.
I do love Summer but Autumn is definately my season.

Hopdathelf · 15/09/2021 07:03

Boots are back!

Pascha · 15/09/2021 07:08

The chilly air at 5.45am as I sit outside drinking tea in my dressing gown in the peace and quiet watching the tractors in the farm next door start up.

New jeans all stiff and a bit crunchy with new trainers.

Cottage pie.

00100001 · 15/09/2021 07:15

Don't think Easter counts as Autumn :p

EssentiallyDisorganised · 15/09/2021 07:24

Autumn colours
Misty mornings
Crunchy leaves on the ground
Guaranteed no more heatwaves, I hate hot weather
Putting away the suncream
Strictly

But I miss the long evenings spent in the garden or at the allotment, I'm not keen on the whole snuggly evenings on the sofa with hot chocolate and candles thing.

PurpleHydrangea1 · 15/09/2021 07:35

Mostly the food (soups, hot bowl of porridge on a cold morning, hot chocolate, cottage pies, crumbles etc)
I prefer jeans, jumpers, boots as my go-to outfit
When it's cold but sunny, my absolute favourite weather/day
Taking the DD to jump in the puddles

BlueberrySugar · 15/09/2021 07:40

Pumpkin spice 🤤.
Getting wrapped up for a walk but the sun still shining.
Crunch leaves.
Early darker nights.
Christmas shopping.

BlueberrySugar · 15/09/2021 07:40

Oh and Christmas!
