This is such a lovely thread.
I always loved autumn when I lived in England.
It was so nice to wear sweaters, scarves, boots and coats.
I'm a big lover of slow-cooked stews and soups, roasted vegetables and the smell of warming spices in the kitchen.
Hot chocolate and cider
My skin tone is more suitable to colors like rust, dark blue, dark greens (not olive), brown, golden mustard, burgundy, aubergine...
I love the sound of a crackling fire, crunching leaves and the breezes through trees...
But I live in Texas now and autumn doesn't actually happen until sometime in November. It was 90F/32C today and its been known that children and parents are wearing shorts under their Halloween costumes and sweating. Heck, even Christmas Day will be 75F/23C so turkey or a baked ham is made with the a/c on.
However, my autumn is the sound of children playing in the school playground and the sound of the school "in-service" bells to signify the start, recess periods, lunch and end of the school day. The sound of diesel yellow school buses on the road. The local high school marching bands practicing their shows in their school parking lots along with the cheerleaders rehearsing their cheers and formations. Plus, you can hear the football teams practicing on the school fields. There's a lot of numbers being called out then words like "hut" and "huddle". The high school teams play against each other and it's known as the "Season of Friday Night Lights". Texas does it amazingly well.
You go to the stores and there's nothing several aisles of school supplies and school supply lists that parents must supply and the sound of people, exasperated and asking to no one in particular: "What is a folder with brads? I only see them with 'prongs'." (Hint, they're the same thing!)
I suppose it's all good.
