If you are not a veggie household how many non meat evening meals do you eat a week?

Having recently read a few different threads this is something I’ve been thinking about. We probably have at least three, sometimes four, meat free meals a week. Not for any particular reason (health, environmental, cost saving etc) but just because there are a lot of veggie meals we like as much as meat or fish based.

I wonder if it’s some what generational, I know my parents generation seem to eat more meat based meals and I know for sure my grandparents were a lot more in the ‘a meal isn’t a meal with out meat or fish,’ camp.

2-3 a week.

So tonight we had stir-fry veg with egg fried rice.

Tomorrow is lentil dha and cheats naan.

We're having spinach and feta tart on Friday 👍

Same 🤣. We buy our meat from a farm shop and it’s expensive so we can’t afford to eat it every day. So we have around 3 days a week meat free.

One or maybe two…not many veggie dishes in our repertoire and we can afford high welfare meat and fish so do so.

Scottishskifun · 14/09/2021 22:36

Between 4-5 depending.
I have only started eating meat again after a 20 year break in the last few years so still used to mostly veggie meals.
When we do have meat it's generally something in the slow cooker and then used the next day as well. I get a butchers box every 2-3 months which I freeze.

jackstini · 14/09/2021 22:44

None
Maybe occasional lunches like soup, jacket potatoes, sandwich, omelette

I can't think of the last time we ate a main meal without meat or fish. Fish probably couple of days a week, meat 5

TractorAndHeadphones · 14/09/2021 22:45

None really because DP can't live without meat. And I CBA cook two meals. I rarely have meat for lunch however.

foreverandalways · 14/09/2021 22:46

We eat some form of meat daily

MaenadsJustWannaHaveFun · 14/09/2021 22:48

We eat a meal with a proper portion of meat only perhaps twice a week, but will use bacon or goosefat or sausage to flavour many of our other dishes. We had a (non-kosher, obviously) shakshuka tonight with a tiny bit of sausage and bacon in it, for example.

Admittedly, though, we don't always have a meal meal. The kids will eat properly, but we will have a cuppa soup each. It's really just because we get too tired to eat and can't face cleaning up.

CovidCorvid · 14/09/2021 22:48

I’m not vegetarian but every meal I cook/eat at home is vegetarian. Only cook meat once in a blue moon but I do eat it more when I’m eating out.

TippledPink · 14/09/2021 22:48

None- I can't think of any veggie meals that we would like?

Livia22 · 14/09/2021 22:49

None!

Thebookswereherfriends · 14/09/2021 22:51

I aim for 3 to 4 meat free meals each week, but struggle with variety as our dd is not particularly adventurous with food. When I do a meat meal I try to use less meat than the recipe calls for.

SlidDownTheElephantsTrunk · 14/09/2021 22:51

None!

FatAnkles · 14/09/2021 22:52

Eat fish or meat most days. Maybe 1-2 meals a week is meat free.

AlexaShutUp · 14/09/2021 22:52

We eat a small amount of salmon in our evening meal about once a week. I also have the occasional tuna sandwich for lunch. Everything else is veggie.

Bobsyer · 14/09/2021 22:53

Maybe every other meal on a good week? My favourites would be halloumi and sweet chilli wraps or dhal and rice and naan bread.

My mum will apologise if we go to visit and she ‘only’ feeds us spaghetti or something.

Those of you that say none - don’t you ever do beans on toast? Pasta and pesto? Egg and chips?

Literally nothing? Do you eat meat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?
ShinyThingsDistractMe · 14/09/2021 22:57

2-3 non meat meals a week plus fish on Fridays. But I know some class fish as meat and some don't. 🤷🏻‍♀️

seasidehouse · 14/09/2021 22:57

We have meat free Mondays

LittleFroggie · 14/09/2021 22:58

We used to eat it every day but have made a big effort to cut it down. 4-5 times a week we have prawns/ smoked salmon / tuna for lunch though, other times it’ll be soup/ salad. Evenings we eat veggie mostly, things like veggie sausages, quorn, beetroot, plant-based meat alternatives and usually on 2 nights we’ll have fish. Sundays we roast a chicken though and I love a weekend steak! Grin

OverByYer · 14/09/2021 23:01

None at the moment but when youngest leaves for uni an planning in eating more vegetarian meals

Clymene · 14/09/2021 23:02

Are you including fish as meat? If so, maybe once a week. Otherwise 3 or 4

jesusmaryjosephandtheweedonkey · 14/09/2021 23:03

We do meat free Monday and a couple of other dishes a week.

catfunk · 14/09/2021 23:04

About 50/50
