If you are not a veggie household how many non meat evening meals do you eat a week?

Having recently read a few different threads this is something I’ve been thinking about. We probably have at least three, sometimes four, meat free meals a week. Not for any particular reason (health, environmental, cost saving etc) but just because there are a lot of veggie meals we like as much as meat or fish based.

I wonder if it’s some what generational, I know my parents generation seem to eat more meat based meals and I know for sure my grandparents were a lot more in the ‘a meal isn’t a meal with out meat or fish,’ camp.

All of them and a few vegan ones too! I’m veggie (aspiring vegan) and DH won’t cook meat at home in support of this. The kids (7, 5, 1) are veggie too and can choose when they’re older if they want to eat meat.

I have been meat free for over 20 years, don’t take any supplements and have never been anaemic even in pregnancy. The kids are tall, strong and active. Meat really is not essential to any diet.

Oh our favourite family meals are probably macaroni cheese and burritos with a black bean chilli. DH and I like burnt aubergine curry and a Vietnamese dish called temple tofu. Also google Nick Knowle’s sausage bake if you’re interested in low carb vegan- it’s delicious and we have it at least once a fortnight!

We have 2 or 3 meat based, 2 or 3 fish based and 2 or 3 veg based a week.

Sometimes vegetarian, but as I do not have strong leanings towards vegetarianism the veg based meals may have some parmesan or Worcestershire sauce in.

2 or 3 a week. Usually involve eggs or cheese. Only on days dh isn’t eating with us as he doesn’t eat cheese or eggs.

I’ve given up lamb and pork as I’ve realised that they make me feel horribly sluggish after I’ve eaten them.
