Breakfast - oatsosimple porridge (the strawberry one) with skimmed milk followed by a bacon and egg - both fried in a little oil - sandwich on wholemeal bread, no sauce or butter

Dinner - grilled chicken breast, loads of spinach. Homemade salad consisting of tomatoes, onions, peppers, celery, sweetcorn, beetroot and cucumber. Mixed in with some natural yoghurt and lemon juice instead of mayo.

Snacks - a banana, a packet of quavers, a fudge.

@NavigatingAdolescence Good lord you are quite mad.

OP, get the thread deleted, try and forget all the utter nonsense within it and enjoy the rest of your week.

NavigatingAdolescence · 13/09/2021 21:38

@TheFoundations

D'you know about the 'Bliss Point', *@NavigatingAdolescence*? It's the ratio of fat and sugar that big food corporations replicate in their processed foods, which is found nowhere naturally except breast milk.

Terrifying. We are a society of adult bouncing babies, and we can't stop, because breast milk is made with an 'if you don't eat this, you won't survive' recipe.

Necessary for babies/young children to grow (and breastmilk has other benefits, of course). But that genetic switch turned on after birth is exploited in cheesecake/ice cream/cake/doughnuts etc (perfect Bliss Point foods). It’s not a coincidence.
Boombadoom · 13/09/2021 21:39

If you want to lose weight, cut out the crisps and fudge. Absolute processed crap.

Lots of savoury stuff too, like pizza, pasta with cheese or cream, chips n cheese etc

Yup.

Future sure looks fun.

Would you say this was a low calorie day?
imjustsoworried · 13/09/2021 21:57

I'm not going to pretend I eat wonderfully but I'm so confused as to why you need two breakfasts.

5128gap · 13/09/2021 22:03

I'd say its under 1500 so for most women it would be a small deficit and enough for slow weight loss.

MarleneDietrichsSmile · 13/09/2021 22:07

@NavigatingAdolescence it sounds like you got sucked into the orthorexic corner of the internet, and you are currently on a high from your new diet/food religion.

Please be kind to yourself when it becomes unsustainable.

I have a few friends who jump on new diets with religious zeal, every few months, and it’s really messed up their relationship with food

KidneyBeans · 13/09/2021 22:08

@NavigatingAdolescence

Water is really important.

Our ancestors got most of their water needs met by the food they ate. If they were thirsty, they felt hungry.

We don’t get much water in our food now. But the body still signals thirst as hunger. If you hydrate properly, your hunger signal is more likely to be true, hence you won’t overeat.

Honestly, I’ve had my eyes opened wide the last 3 months.

You don't say... Wonder if that's why you're sermonising with the zeal of an uninformed cult member?

Please do explain how a banana is an UPF?

NiceGerbil · 13/09/2021 22:09

I think someone being told that kale smoothies are terrible is a new high!

KidneyBeans · 13/09/2021 22:20

@NavigatingAdolescence
Wildfire claims that 'Every animal on Earth has its own diet; a particular way of eating that makes it possible for that animal to function at its absolute best.'

You know that's bollocks right? What's the specific diet of a wild boar? Or A brown bear?

As is trying to explain why humans can't digest bananas by linking to a podcast on UPFConfused

Also assume you're ethnically Turkish and South American? If not then how do you digest your humanoid and green beans?

Seriously you sound like an uniformed cult member

Selkiesarereal · 13/09/2021 22:25

I have found that it also depends on your age. I’m late 40’s and lead a very active lifestyle but the weight has crept on so having to go down to 1200-1300 a day to start losing the weight.

Once I’ve lost the weight I’ll go up to 1500-1600 a day depending on my exercise on that day, cutting back if I’m not doing anything.

moynomore · 13/09/2021 22:26

Oh but I am - I generally work a 12 hour day. But still walk a lot.

Puhleez.

NiceGerbil · 13/09/2021 22:27

Well I suppose animals do have their own diet.

Pandas- bamboo
Pelicans- fish
Cows- grass
Ants- imagine they'd have a go at anything
Pigs- omnivores and I'm given to understand have a very broad diet

Humans- immensely adaptable and successful omnivores.. Broad diet made even broader by being able to cook.

So yes humans have their own diet and it's very very broad.

So that's nice.

MiddleEasternMummy · 13/09/2021 22:39

@Mariell

Not particularly. What are Quavers?
Haaaaaaa can't stop laughing at this !!!!!
mistermagpie · 13/09/2021 22:43

Wow. This thread is insane. The poor OP will be wishing she hadn't bothered.

Cat2014 · 13/09/2021 22:58

Of
Course it’s a low calorie day!

00100001 · 13/09/2021 23:02

@NavigatingAdolescence

ODFOD. You knew exactly what I meant."

I was talking about the post where you said we shouldn't eat bananas as Europeans, because you seem to think we haven't evolved to eat bananas.... but you (presumably European) go in to list a load of foods that you are today that didn't originate in Europe.

How are you able to digest food originating from the far east, but we mere mortals can't digest a banana??

00100001 · 13/09/2021 23:04

@NavigatingAdolescence

Yup.

Future sure looks fun.

Ah, glad to see you're using an excellent source of well informed and thorough research to back up your claims....
Pikamoo · 14/09/2021 04:15

I'd say low calorie but not particularly healthy (except the dinner sounds very healthy). No judgement from me on that. Yesterday I had museli, Subway sandwich and a chocolate bar, salmon and white rice with butter sauce then another chocolate bar. I know my calories are low enough because I'm not gaining weight. Definitely not healthy though!

BorderlineHappy · 14/09/2021 06:07

There's definitely 2 camps on here.
The eat to fuel camp
And I love food camp.
I'm the latter.
@NavigatingAdolescence you sound like someone on a soapbox.

Everyone starting a diet does it with zest.
Then day to day life kicks in and the diet goes out the window.

If you don't change your mindset and realise it's healthy eating a life style change and not a diet. It's bound to fail.

@AWiseWomanOnceSaidFuckThisShit you are not a whale
You had a day where you ate what you fancied, nothing wrong with that.

Sweetener12 · 14/09/2021 09:08

Depends on how many calories are in your daily norm and how many of them where there...

midsomermurderess · 17/09/2021 17:44

One shouldn't laugh at Mariell. She is wandering these boards like a lost and angry ghost who has become untethered from 1905.

AWiseWomanOnceSaidFuckThisShit · 18/09/2021 15:28

I don't know why everyone found the Quavers thing funny to be honest, clearly the poster just isn't from UK. Was it really so hilarious 🙄
