Breakfast - oatsosimple porridge (the strawberry one) with skimmed milk followed by a bacon and egg - both fried in a little oil - sandwich on wholemeal bread, no sauce or butter

Dinner - grilled chicken breast, loads of spinach. Homemade salad consisting of tomatoes, onions, peppers, celery, sweetcorn, beetroot and cucumber. Mixed in with some natural yoghurt and lemon juice instead of mayo.

Snacks - a banana, a packet of quavers, a fudge.

@NavigatingAdolescence

Fruit as we know it has never been available to any race. It's all been selectively bred in the last few hundred years to become sweeter and have more flesh (ie far more sugar than the 'natural' fruit you're referring to) Nobody in any country has evolved to eat a banana as we know it today. Nor does any natural environment have any fruit available all year round; in terms of nature, fruit is a flash in the pan each year. If we ate natural fruit in this country, we'd have apples, pears, and some berries, and it'd be reduced down to a few belly aching gut-fulls in the late summer and autumn.

Do you really think that the human digestive system is capable of different things in different parts of the world? So some humans are more evolved than others, in some ways?

AWiseWomanOnceSaidFuckThisShit · 13/09/2021 21:14

@KaycePollard how are you calculating this? 25k per day?? I did 31k last week. It was over 12k miles in the Lake District and I could barely stand by the end of it. Genuinely interested...

12 miles not 12k 🙈

So presumably you never eat;

Cashew nuts, peanuts, potatoes, peppers, green beans, pineapple, coffee, chocolate, blueberries, corn, pumpkin, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, chilli, turkey, vanilla, chia, quinoa, Brazil nuts, avocado, rice, soya, chicken, apples, chickpeas, pears, lentils... amongst many many more foods that aren't native to Europe.... Confused

NiceGerbil · 13/09/2021 21:15

Quavers are delicious!

You're fine OP. Bacon and eggs has protein and all the egg nutrition. Only for breakfast? Why? Very strange.

On a slightly tangential note:

'Our ancestors got most of their water needs met by the food they ate. If they were thirsty, they felt hungry.'

What do you mean by ancestors? I mean they didn't drink? What??!!

And combined with the tropical fruit comment and given that we're essentially monkeys...? If getting all fluid from food then ruling out that lovely juicy fruit sounds unhelpful!!

Which ancestors? There's evidence of wine being made 7000bc. How far back and where?

Didn't drink? That's silly.

@NerrSnerr

I'd love to see an honest weekly food diary of all these people who question a bag of quavers.

Some will have eating disorders for sure, there'll be some who genuinely eat clean but I reckon some others will be eating tubes of Pringles, McDonalds every day and finishing the day with a family sized Dairy Milk but come on here to subtly put others down to feel better about themselves.

Today:

Smoothie made from spinach, celery, cucumber, ginger, mint, lime, kale.

Scrambled eggs with homemade vegan pesto, stir fried mushrooms, asparagus and broccoli

Tuna with homemade mayo, hummus, massive salad with lettuce, cabbage, fennel, celery, radishes, cucumber, green beans and homemade French dressing.

3 mint/rooibos teas and 2.5ltrs of water.

BorderlineHappy · 13/09/2021 21:17

A little bit of that kind of stuff won't stop you wanting it later, it'll make you crave more.
Not really @TheFoundations
Everyone is different.
Im diabetic and the 100 calorie snacks are much preferred than the diabetic stuff.
So myself i prefer the smaller version of the nicer stuff.

?????!!!!!

More evolved than 'others'? Which others?

Take polar bears and pandas. Evolved for a very specific diet. This means problems for them.

Take ants. Fairly sure they aren't fussy!

Humans are extremely adaptable and incredibly successful. It's unlikely part of that is our ability to consume a wide range of foods!!

For the majority of the population, a little leads to a lot. Some, like yourself, can stop, especially if they're very motivated by something like you are. But most struggle to stop, because of what happens hormonally when we eat sugar.
NiceGerbil · 13/09/2021 21:22

Quavers are more salty. Yum.

I also like marmite.

I don’t eat meat. Or fruit. Am allergic to nightshades (tomatoes etc). I don’t eat carbs like rice or white potatoes, and only sweet potatoes/pumpkin when maintaining my weight or practicing metabolic confusion. I limit legumes (again, they contain a substance that makes them hard for us to digest). I eat some seeds and nuts but in small amounts. Don’t eat soya.

I eat seasonally, as humans are meant to, avoiding so many inflammatory issues and risk of diabetes etc.

What are quavers?

Is the most Mumsnet thing I've seen all day.

@@NavigatingAdolescence Come to think of it where are the tea plantations in Yorkshire? I was under the illusion that tea is typically English. Have I been wrong all my life!?!

"Smoothie made from spinach, celery, cucumber, ginger, mint, lime, kale."

Smoothies are bad for you, because they break down the fibre if the food for you. Also, you shouldn't eat cucumber, kale, celery, gingeror limes if you're European, they are an Asian food.
Btw, Spinach is a Persian food.
Tour body hasn't evolved to process them.

"Scrambled eggs with homemade vegan pesto, stir fried mushrooms, asparagus and broccoli"

Hate to break it to you... Pine nuts aren't native to Europe

"Tuna with homemade mayo, hummus, massive salad with lettuce, cabbage, fennel, celery, radishes, cucumber, green beans and homemade French dressing."

You're just being silly now. Claiming we can't eat bananas because we haven't evolved to digest them, yet you're chowing down on Tuna, green beans and radishes????

Indeed. And the sugars in fruit signal to the body that “winter is coming” and to lay down fat for survival. Fat which would then be burned off/released during seasons when fruit was not around (spring).

Nowadays that same biology is hammered by sweeter fruit and products with so much sugar in them the pancreas can’t function all year around. The result? Obesity crisis.

Huge amounts of scientific research into this. I’m loving it. My blood tests confirm the improvements to my health. I’m 3 stone down in 3 months, sleeping better, less stressed, no inflammation, more energy. It’s no coincidence.

Meanwhile food manufacturers spend millions creating “healthy” food and marketing it to the masses to try and get you to eat as much as possible.

But sure. Quavers are all good. 🤷🏻‍♀️

(Everything in moderation includes your health. I want optimal health and will eat Wildfit for the rest of my life.)

I didn’t use pine nuts. 🤪

Neither high in fructose.

TheFoundations · 13/09/2021 21:34

D'you know about the 'Bliss Point', @NavigatingAdolescence? It's the ratio of fat and sugar that big food corporations replicate in their processed foods, which is found nowhere naturally except breast milk.

Terrifying. We are a society of adult bouncing babies, and we can't stop, because breast milk is made with an 'if you don't eat this, you won't survive' recipe.
