Best/saddest ABBA songs

Help me out. I've always liked ABBA but had only ever listened to ABBA gold, so all the cheesy classics.

Today I listened to The Day Before You Came and it blew my mind. I'm looking for some recommendations of other great, lesser known ABBA songs that are similarly emotional, beautiful, melancholic...

Lesser known- my favourites are My Love, My Life from Arrival ("but I know I don't possess you, so go away, God bless you"- teenage angst) and Soldiers from the Visitors.

Well-known but haven't (and won't) listened to in 17 years- Slipping through my fingers. Probably the saddest (and truest) song in the history of tear-jerkers.

I think anyone with a child tbf. I remember walking with DD to school when she was 6 and she was skipping in front of me and I was hit by two things- how utterly perfect life is when you're 6, on your way to school and you're that happy with it you skip- and then this horrific song!.Grin

I agree that One of Us is bloody good too.
You can see on that track how it had all gone wrong for them personally. Kind of like Fleetwood Mac but without being off their faces to numb the pain.

Not at all. I fucking hate this song and I have a young adult daughter. I think it is at best mawkish and self indulgent, but actually it is bollocks. When you have children you sign up to them "slipping through your fingers" you WANT them to grow up and do all the things that growing up entails? Surely.

Very fond of "The Day Before You Came" though. Definitely my favourite Abba song.
