Aldi favourites thread!

Despite shopping at Aldi for years I keep discovering new products.

This week it's cheesy hash browns (filled with cheese! A meal in themselves) and sea salt and lime tortilla chips- Both delicious.

Also over the summer, I discovered the specially selected sea salt and caramel ice cream stick were a particular hit. And the zx cola and Pringle dupes are better that the origjnals.

What are your favoured Aldi treats that I need to try next?

Their Rhubarb and Ginger cider in bottles…. Possibly the most delicious drink of the entire summer

They have really good ready cooked lemon and herb chicken mini fillets in their chiller section. So handy for quick salads etc.
Agree on the pringles also like the salt and vinegar dupe of pop chips and their specially selected prawn cocktail crisps.
Love the jars of mini pepper pearls.
Lemon sorbet is the nicest out their and highly rate frozen the skin on fries.
In my local branch I really can’t fault the fresh fruit and veg, it’s excellent but I hear this carries store to store.
Their lacuna face wipes and herbal Essences dupes are also fab.

I think with Aldi it’s a case of try it and see what you like. I buy a lot in there, but I also have a list of their products that I really don’t like (number one being their horseradish! It really isn’t for me!)

So I'm in the US and this may be cheating, but I'm also always intrigued by what's the same and what's different between UK and US Aldi since I only had Lidl near me in the UK.

My absolute favorites are: Moser Roth dark chocolate, Lifeway kefir, their own brand kombuchas, they do great frozen french onion soup, 'everythinig but the bagel' seasoning, their rip-off La Croix sparking water and from their seasonal ranges their jaffa cakes and leibekuchen.

The Lasagne Al forno. Oh, and their coconut Greek yogurt. Amazing. As is the salted caramel flavour.

OddshoesOddsocks · 06/09/2021 01:21

Their sweet chilli thins paired with the red pepper hummus- I could munch my way through a whole pot!

I also had a lovely white wine at my ‘posh’ uncles house and was shocked to discover it was Aldi’s, I’m not really a white wine drinker but it was beautiful! It was called Delura Feteasca Regala.

BeaucoupFish · 06/09/2021 01:25

I love the part cooked dinner rolls

BeaucoupFish · 06/09/2021 01:27

And the Kalamata olives in the jar
Half the price of Sainsbury’s and much bigger and no duff ones

Viennettas on a stick!

HoppyHop · 06/09/2021 14:53

I bough Brie in Aldi this weekend. In a wooden type container. Strength 5. The best I have ever tasted!

cherrypiepie · 06/09/2021 15:10

These are great!

Going to try one a week.

Also the rocky road in a tub.

Flatbread pizzas.

Grenlei · 06/09/2021 15:26

@Pieceofpurplesky

Viennettas on a stick!
I was going to say the same!

We don't have these in our usual Aldi but I went to a different branch this weekend and bought some of these which are excellent, a real find!

I also love the mighty peas, the frozen chicken thigh burgers are a fave of DS1, we also all like the fresh 5% burgers with peppers/ caramelised onion.

The veggie/ vegan frozen selection is also pretty good.

Milomonster · 06/09/2021 15:28

Their posh handwash - smells amazing and lingers for ages.
Coconut and vanilla popcorn.

StormOfSekhmet · 06/09/2021 15:53

Rosy moths chocolate, and their french cheeses.

Comedycook · 06/09/2021 15:57

The posh yoghurts...I don't even like yoghurt usually but I can't get enough of them. They come in a pack of four and have a fruit compote under the yoghurt.

Oh and the red Thai curry kit...there's a sachet of paste, one of coconut milk and one of herbs and spices. It's delicious

Sawyersfishbiscuits · 06/09/2021 15:59

The fake Toffee Crisps✅
The fake Kinder Buenos✅
The Salmon Wellington✅
I like their extra mature purple pack Cheddar better than anything else.
Those strawberry fake Kinder bars 😍
I've also never had a bad white wine from there.
The Mediterranean tarts and quiches are good too.

20viona · 06/09/2021 16:00

Crab and lobster Mac and cheese in the freezer section is amazing!

FizzyPink · 06/09/2021 16:02

We’ve just discovered Aldi’s rosè. We love the pink sparkling with the pink foil top and the pale rosè that comes in a clear bottle with pink flowers at the bottom.

Both around £6, extremely quaffable and pretty enough to take to dinner parties.

FizzyPink · 06/09/2021 16:04

Oh and the fake Soleros, Fabs and Nobbly Bobblys. The Soleros I blend with pineapple juice, fresh mango and vanilla vodka to make a delicious cocktail.
I also saw this week they have vegan chocolate brioche and I wish I’d picked some up.

Annasgirl · 06/09/2021 16:06

The "Molten Brown" soap
The unsmoked pancetta - the best I've ever tasted and makes amazing carbonara
Chorizo
Thai chilli and coconut prawns (frozen)
barbecue prawns (not frozen)
washing powder (non bio and bio - both brilliant dupes for the main brand ones)
Magnum posh dishwasher capsules
Black pepper crackers
Lime and Basil room diffusers - perfect for bathroom

Iced cinnamon buns - my Dc's favourite treat

MissyB1 · 06/09/2021 16:07

Following as we are about to have a brand new Aldi opening in October, 5 minutes from my house. Very excited!

Grenlei · 06/09/2021 16:10

Oh also the Magnum premium washing up liquid - the one in a silvery grey bottle. It's like Fairy Platinum at a fraction of the price.
