I need some inspiration. Don’t fancy a roast, but want something a bit more special than we would have in the week.
Any ideas welcome, and links to recipes please!

Why don't you have steak, chips and salad?

We're having sausages!

Bokky · 05/09/2021 09:25

We are having pulled pork with sweet potato wedges

Bluesheep8 · 05/09/2021 09:25

Lunch?
Roast pork, mash, stuffing, cabbage, cauliflower, carrots and gravy.

We had steak in the week. I was considering toad in the hole. But I fancy something really flavourful, with a bit of spice maybe…

Out for dinner tonight to mark the end of school holidays. I am hoping the restaurant still has their Sunday roast left as they do an amazing job.

FWIW tomorrow we are scheduled to have scrambled eggs on toast as Mondays tend to be a late finish for us. (Although I doubt after school clubs will happen the very first day - not been told yet);

@Bluesheep8

Lunch? Roast pork, mash, stuffing, cabbage, cauliflower, carrots and gravy.
Mmmmm. With crackling? I did consider something similar.

Hmmm.... not steak, and maybe a bit spicy.

Oh, a slow cooked lamb tagine with dried apricots and couscous?

Bearsbearsbears40 · 05/09/2021 09:33

I think we’ll have Hairy Dieters Spanish chicken and chorizo bake tonight - healthier than last night’s Chinese takeaway! www.hairybikers.com/recipes/view/spanish-style-chicken-bake

We're having pork and stuffing sandwiches, with roast potatoes, and gravy for dunking. I'll probably make some apple sauce too 😋

Thatsplentyjack · 05/09/2021 09:59

Lamb shanks. Dp bought them yesterday. He's making them apparently.

mbosnz · 05/09/2021 10:18

Last night we had Mexican Pibl, it was divine!

Tonight to mark end of holidays, and make it nice and relaxed, it's F&C, if the weather is nice, down by the Thames, with a glass of bubbly.

StevieNix · 05/09/2021 10:19

I didn’t fancy a roast so we’re having chicken fajitas with all the toppings (guacamole, sour cream, etc)

HereLiveIAmNotACat · 05/09/2021 10:22

Chilli con carne on nachos

Laudaroc · 05/09/2021 10:24

luannlele · 05/09/2021 10:24

Having a complete random dinner today - making beef patties with macaroni cheese and salad!

RockyisMYRhino · 05/09/2021 10:26

I've decided we'll be having a chicken roast with stuffing, roast new potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, broccoli, carrots, peas and sweet corn here. I quite fancy some pudding as well so maybe an apple strudel and ice cream/custard

ImInStealthMode · 05/09/2021 10:28

Lamb and aubergine curry from Hello Fresh, which we should have had last night but ended up at a BBQ instead.

YesILikeItToo · 05/09/2021 10:29

I’m making Chinese style chicken livers. My daughter was showing an interest in my recipe box, which I’ve had since I was a teenager, and we were looking for the oldest recipes in it. Some were ones I still make regularly, but this stood out as neglected, so I’m giving it a go again.

UsernameTaken76 · 05/09/2021 10:30

We’re making the one pot spiced roast chicken from the new Good Food magazine. Hoping it will taste as good as it looks. Serving with pilau rice and poppadoms and onion salad

KurtWilde · 05/09/2021 10:40

We've got some sunshine today so we're out for the afternoon while a chicken and plenty of veg and stock sits in the slow cooker. I'll put the whole pot on the table and we'll dig in. Nice and easy, minimal fuss. Probably do crusty bread with it or I have some cheesy mash I froze a week or two back that would be nice to soak up the juices.
