..your gym kit?!

I'm worrying if I'm pretty gross. I exercise daily, when I finish I take my kit off, jump in the shower and hang it up in the bathroom ready to use the next day. I feel a bit gross when I put it on the following day but within 10 mins I'm sweating and it's soaked again, this routine happens about 4/5 times before the kit gets washed. Am I revolting?🙈🙈🙈

@Stellaris22

It's meant to be mandatory at the gym I go to, and there are fully stocked cleaning stations. But many people still just move on from the equipment they've used without cleaning.

Being sweaty for me isn't an issue, it's a gym so of course you'll sweat. I wear gym clothes a few times between washes and go twice a day most days. It's not exactly grim or gross to wear clothes a few times, much more sustainable than buying lots of clothes and washing constantly.

Funny how you assume people who wash their clothes daily don’t wipe down the equipment.

It varies hugely. Anything sweaty or wet or dirty gets washed.
I cycle
I run
I swim
I do classes

If the clothes are wet (rain, sweat or chlorine) or dirty (mud) then they get washed. If they're not then I don't wash them.
It is very weather dependent, though some classes and running club interval sessions always result in sweaty clothes!

If I'm laying up cos it's cold then often only the base layer needs a wash.

I wash after every use too, I do sweat a lot though. If I didn’t I might not. But having whiffed people in smelly kit before I’d hate to be one of them! In the comfort of your own home it’s maybe different though…..?!

I only wash mine when somebody at the gym comments on the smell.

I wash my gear after every use (there is a quick 15min cycle on my washing machine) at a real push and only if after a non sweaty exercise, I'd reuse once. But definitely not 4 / 5 times.
...totally gross op sorry. I don't think that level of reuse is good for your skin either.
It turns my stomach when I come across the stink of reused gym gear while at the gym (best thing about covid was the extra distance from those types at the gym tbh)

Yukk. If I didn't wash my sports kit every time, after I used it, it would be stiff with sweat.

I go straight in the shower and my kit goes straight in the washer.

When you shower, put your kit on a rinse programme and peg it out.
