If you exercise every day how often do you wash..

..your gym kit?!

I'm worrying if I'm pretty gross. I exercise daily, when I finish I take my kit off, jump in the shower and hang it up in the bathroom ready to use the next day. I feel a bit gross when I put it on the following day but within 10 mins I'm sweating and it's soaked again, this routine happens about 4/5 times before the kit gets washed. Am I revolting?🙈🙈🙈

I have a separate kit for every workout of the week!

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 04/09/2021 16:48

Sorry but that's utterly gross. It needs washing every time.

itsgettingwierd · 04/09/2021 16:51

Sports bra and top every time.

Shirts may get 2 wears.

I have stuff from decathlon as it's really good quality and good prices.

I have a small lidded bucket next to my laundry basket and just out on quick wash every 3 days what needs washing and it drys overnight.

4 sets of stuff I'd probably the minimum I'd want.

@AmelieLovesAutumn

If you're using the treadmill at home, do you really need to wear gym kit?
Well I have to wear a proper sports bra to run wherever I’m doing it, as I have big boobs. I also find it most comfortable to run in leggings and a t-shirt. I only wear leggings and t-shirts for exercise, so they’re my ‘gym kit’.
flyingant · 04/09/2021 17:02

It's either completely gross or you're not working out hard enough Grin

sausagepastapot · 04/09/2021 17:03

I wear a clean set every time- I would not rewear a sweaty kit. I have quite a lot of sports wear though so its easy to cycle it.

Mulletsaremisunderstood · 04/09/2021 17:07

I have three pairs of workout leggings and two sports bras. I usually wear them a maximum of twice before washing, I workout at home so nobody smells it but me.

leavesthataregreen · 04/09/2021 17:07

Either every day or every other day. I let it dry out and then check - if it smells of perfume, I wear it. If it smells of sweat, I don't. Get a few sets of exercise gear so you can change it more often.

tempchecked · 04/09/2021 17:09

Wear the gym gear in the shower. Two washes for the price/time of one. Sorted.

Look, just do your own thing. MN would have you washing everything five times a day, nothing would be enough for some of them.

Ivy48 · 04/09/2021 17:14

My partner uses his shorts twice but always a fresh top/socks. He may use shorts only the once if he’s been very sweaty.

bathorshower · 04/09/2021 17:15

Cycling shorts every time they're used, other things less often (every 3-4 uses)

But I cycle outside, so if I do smell, no-one's likely to notice.

purplesequins · 04/09/2021 17:25

when it smells.
I can get 2 runs out of my running gear, though I take it into the shower with me and hang it up after.

TheOccupier · 04/09/2021 17:26

Disgusting! I exercise daily and would never re-wear worn kit. Just buy more if you can't get the laundry done in time.

purplesequins · 04/09/2021 17:27

with 'taking it in the showef with me' I mean dumped on the floor of the shower.

EarringsandLipstick · 04/09/2021 17:30

@flyingant

It's either completely gross or you're not working out hard enough Grin
Exactly this. 😀

I'm normally 'whatever suits you' about most matters here but if you are exercising hard enough to sweat, you absolutely need to wash your kit each time.

Simonjt · 04/09/2021 17:31

Clean kit every time, you can smell people in the gym who aren’t in clean kit, BO is worse on fabric than it is on skin, especially cotton. Or worse, people who think spraying their sweaty worn kit with spray is good enough, trust me, BO mixed with spray is awful.

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 04/09/2021 17:33

You need three sets - one on, one off and one in the wash.

PandoraP · 04/09/2021 17:33

I have several kit and always wash after each use.

delilahbucket · 04/09/2021 17:40

If I've just been for a quick run, 20 minutes, I'll reuse my bra and leggings one more time, but if I've been out for longer it all goes straight in the wash. Otherwise it's just breeding ground for bacteria.

beigebrownblue · 04/09/2021 17:41

Re: more kit,

it is the last week of the Asquth archive sale, lovely stuff and seventy five per cent off

LegendaryReady · 04/09/2021 17:48

I might wear non sweaty yoga kit to run in later that day but generally it all goes in the wash after every use

InkieNecro · 04/09/2021 17:48

To be fair, I lift weights rather than do cardio and I work out in my garage so I'm not offending anyone with my stench Grin

MintyGreenDream · 04/09/2021 17:49

Wash bra and leggings every time top might wear twice

Coronado2 · 04/09/2021 17:49

Every time! I have at least 10 pairs of sports leggings and tops and 6 or 7 sports bras. If I do yogo or something I'd rewear, nothing that made me sweat though.

sunshineandshowers40 · 04/09/2021 17:52

I exercise daily and wash my running stuff every day. Very occasionally I might rewear a sports bra if I'm behind with the washing. I do have about 4 sets of running stuff but have my favourites which I prefer to wear.
