How often do you dine out or get takeout?

I often find I struggle to find the time to cook as my LO keeps me busy. I end up getting takeout between 2-4 times a week.

Dine out - very very rarely, even before covid.
Takeaway - couple of times a month, once a week at the absolute most, if we have a really busy week or something.

AuntieMarys · 02/09/2021 18:14

Never get takeaway. Eat out a couple of times a week.

PalmarisLongus · 02/09/2021 18:15

Few times a year.
Can't afford too tbh. I took daughter to McDonald's as a breakfast treat and it cost almost £20, that's a weeks food for us.

LookAtMoiPloise · 02/09/2021 18:15

Eat in a restaurant maybe once a month? Same with a takeaway. Sometimes twice a month.

Numbersarefun · 02/09/2021 18:17

Take out - very rarely. Dinner out - maybe once per month.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 02/09/2021 18:17

Rarely. Can't afford it. In non-covid times it would be about 6 times a year for both.

Amammai · 02/09/2021 18:17

Once a week for take out. Rarely dine out as we have two little knee but might have a meal for a birthday etc. Occasional lunch out at soft play (oh the glamour 😂😂)

Batch cook simple meals? E.g Pasta and a stir through sauce - cheap and easy to make even with little ones to entertain. Freezes fine, heats in a few minutes, you can add other things like chicken or veg.

BraveGoldie · 02/09/2021 18:18

Before COVID almost never. Since lockdown, about 3 times a week. Blush

BraveGoldie · 02/09/2021 18:18

That's takeaway I mean.

Pascha · 02/09/2021 18:19

Take out very rarely as its a 40.minute round-trip and nobody delivers. Eat out probably every other weekend in some form.

sourrain · 02/09/2021 18:20

Once every few months for both.

CourgetteGlutTony · 02/09/2021 18:20

Never eat takeaway, it’s never as good as food cooked at home. Except fish & chips at the seaside, maybe once a year?
Eat out at least once a month, usually 2 or 3 times

Chewbecca · 02/09/2021 18:21

Takeout once a week, twice occasionally.
Eat out, still getting back into post Covid rhythm but usually once a week. Twice last week. Could be zero if we eat at friends or have friends round.

imnottoofussed · 02/09/2021 18:24

Dine out maybe twice a month but I'm talking pizza express or somewhere like that. Takeaway maybe once or twice a month.

That doesn't mean I'm making gourmet meals at home. Sometimes I'll just have cheese on toast for tea

BeaBeaBuzz · 02/09/2021 18:24

Probably 2-3 times a week realistically. Not always a big dinner though. Maybe McDonald’s or fish & chips, soup & sandwich at the garden centre etc

RussianSpy101 · 02/09/2021 18:26

Takeaway every Saturday night.
Dine out - lunch once a week with my mum, dinner out with friends once a month and dinner out with DH once a month.
Rarely eat out with DC and one has autism and doesn’t handle restaurants well.

KohlaParasanda · 02/09/2021 18:27

Takeaway or dinner out, once in a blue moon. Lunch out during a bike ride or a long walk, maybe once or twice a month. DH and I are the opposite of foodies and are happy to eat porridge or bread and cheese for dinner if I can't be bothered cooking.

How did you manage to spend £20 on breakfast for you and a child? McDonalds is really cheap.
Unfashionable · 02/09/2021 18:28

We get a takeaway once a week, on a Friday night. We used to eat out several times a month, but that obviously stopped during the pandemic. We have eaten out a couple of times since re-opening, but it’s impossible to just relax and enjoy it in the same way. Given how much it costs to eat out these days, that makes it hard to justify.

Jessaas · 02/09/2021 18:28

How many children do you have?!

PalmarisLongus · 02/09/2021 18:32

That should have said Birthday Treat... Not breakfast treat. I have no idea why my phone thought I meant breakfast.

drpaddington · 02/09/2021 18:36

Weekly, sometimes twice a week.

We know we shouldn't but when OH is home late, the DC's have had after school activities, or just when I've had a tough day, I just can't be arsed to cook!

MintyGreenDream · 02/09/2021 18:41

Once a week

WhyOhWhyOhWhyyyy · 02/09/2021 18:41

Too much, we need to rein it in really, but have just got carried away after not being able to eat out for so long. Takeaway probably once per week, eat out probably 2 times most weeks.

MinesAMassiveSalad · 02/09/2021 18:47

Takeaway: a couple of times a year.
Eat out: sandwich or soup type of thing usually once a weekend.
