He’s better this morning after a shaky night. Only 6 months old bless him

Oo Teesside park you say. The little food one in Darlington and bishop are always disappointing

TheSilveryPussycat · 11/09/2021 12:33

I spent some of yesterday afternoon hopefully watching Lightning Maps. There wasn't a proper storm, just a few isolated lightning strikes. I was very disappointed.

Someaddedsugar · 11/09/2021 14:34

Welcome @Tinuviel!

Hope everyone’s having a good weekend and DDog is doing ok @lifelongfrugaleer. I remember racing home from work once when there was a huge thunder storm (the one with the golf ball sized hailstones that smashed windows and greenhouses) to check on our dog and when I got in the house he was sound asleep and didn’t bat an eyelid other than to look irritated by me disturbing his sleep by entering the room 😂.

I know I’m early for the advent calendar but every year I seem to pick the calendar that sells out for DS and so this year I thought I’d get in early 😁.

I’d have done the same @PickAChew!

@TheSilveryPussycat is that a website? DP would love a lightning map!

Hello, I’m on the edge of steel town. It’s bright and breezy here today. No plans though, doing online shopping 🛍 today as dog food is far too heavy to carry home.

TheSilveryPussycat · 11/09/2021 17:53

Here you go www.lightningmaps.org/#m=oss;t=3;s=0;o=0;b=;ts=0;

There is an option to hear each lightning strike as a click, which is great! The site is totally mesmerising.

TheSilveryPussycat · 11/09/2021 17:54

Less messy link www.lightningmaps.org

Someaddedsugar · 11/09/2021 19:31

That is an amazing site @TheSilveryPussycat - southern Italy has a lot of storms tonight!

@Gilead it's been quite breezy here today - a good drying day 😂!

Gilead · 11/09/2021 20:43

@Someaddedsugar, indeed it has, still had back door open all day!

TheSilveryPussycat · 11/09/2021 21:26

Went to the Arnison Centre Sainsbury's. Bit weird. Shelves full of Christmas presents, a fair few half empty shelves for household stuff, for fruit etc

Neonplant · 11/09/2021 21:33

I've just been out for some dinner in Newcastle. As a treat/distraction before my surgery. As I'll have to isolate next weekend. Its the great North run to Newcastle was rammed. We've had friends come up to do it before so I've actually been out a few times on the evening before (just for good and a drink) it's always packed.

But today felt a bit wild even at 8.30! I'm in fairly central Gateshead so the roads near me a re closed tomorrow for the run too. Anyone else nearby? I feel like every one is in Durham!

PickAChew · 12/09/2021 12:35

I used to live in Gateshead, @Neonplant - just off the felling bypass for a few years (until I was working and could afford somewhere less hairy!) so the race pretty much passed us.

Someaddedsugar · 12/09/2021 18:46

@TheSilveryPussycat I noticed the same - apparently their drivers are on strike due wage increases elsewhere in the industry.

OP posts:
MrsEWeatherwax · 12/09/2021 21:22

I know a few HGV drivers and they deserve a pay rise. I wouldn’t like have to drive or reverse a lorry.
Quite excited this year about Christmas, and I can’t wait to be able to see my DP’s for more than one day!

Someaddedsugar · 14/09/2021 19:23

I wouldn't either @MrsEWeatherwax! In Sacriston there's a Heron's and the tiny access road is so narrow yet the HGV drivers manage to reverse down so easily - I'd be terrified of hitting something!

I'm also looking forward to Christmas. And hopefully there will be plenty of activities and things to do!

I heard today that the NHS have the Arnison Centre location until May! Not sure whether that's true but might be for boosters etc and the 12-15 year olds.

OP posts:
MrsEWeatherwax · 14/09/2021 20:19

Yes, the delivery to Heron’s, been struck in a queue while that has reversed loads of times. It doesn’t help the idiots who park on path/road where it needs to reserve!
I think there is a light festival ( or something) at Beamish hall this year. Did you see that Ushaw has something for children either coming or on now.
I’m looking forward to seeing the moon in Durham Cathedral, comes this Thursday. Going first in day then going to try and book an evening slot.
Then got Bond movie to look forward too.
Gosh that’s a long time at Arnison centre, I couldn’t cope with working at home for that length of time.

myrtleWilson · 14/09/2021 20:30

Hello - found you all! I am interested in the Moon at the Cathedral too and am off to google about the Festival of Thrift...

Someaddedsugar · 14/09/2021 20:34

We've booked the light festival at Beamish - hopefully the weather is ok. Last year we went to Gibside and the drive there wasn't the nicest as it was so icy!

I'll have to have a look at Ushaw College. DP was saying there's a mini-festival type thing up there this weekend with the Happy Mondays - not sure how he found out about it but you can see the big tent from our street and it looks huge.

The moon looks amazing. Do you have to book during the day or can you just turn up @MrsEWeatherwax ? I want to take DS next week.

Is there a new Bond movie out?

Working from home is becoming a bit boring now. Our poor dog is getting a bit sick of me being here all of the time too - I often get a look as if to say 'do you really need to join another video call' . I do miss seeing people in real life and also just being able to print something out and pass it across to someone else to proof for me rather than having everything marked up on a screen!

@lifelongfrugaleer I spotted your post on the Christmas thread - I'm going to home bargains in Durham on Thursday so if they have the pumpkins I'll let you know and can get one to post to you!

Hi @myrtleWilson 👋🏻. Hope you and DD are ok 😊

lifelongfrugaleer · 14/09/2021 21:03

Ah thanks @Someaddedsugar

MrsEWeatherwax · 14/09/2021 21:04

The Bond movie is 30 September @Someaddedsugar which isn’t long, I’m booking my tickets this week Blush.
The moon at Cathedral, you don’t book during day, but if you want to see in evening you have to book.
Home bargains at Stanley don’t have any glass pumpkins Sad. Been twice. Can’t face going to Dragonville, but I could go to The Range as well Blush. Not that I need more stuff.

lifelongfrugaleer · 14/09/2021 21:11

I’ve booked the evening moon for half term. £6 per adult £4 per child. There are a few days left

MrsEWeatherwax · 14/09/2021 22:01

That’s not a bad price. I am going to try a persuade my DH to go with me for the evening. Then maybe go for meal after.
Need to get booked if it is selling out.
Also can’t wait for Lumiere.

lifelongfrugaleer · 15/09/2021 08:50

Going to bish tonight hands up for pumpkins and Xmas eve boxes if I see them

lifelongfrugaleer · 15/09/2021 17:49

Bugger all in bish
