What do you wear at home to keep warm

I am looking for suggestions for what to wear when at home, to keep warm during the autumn/winter months.

I don't have a huge amount of money to spend, so cheap and cheerful ideas please.

Also, it needs to be comfortable and something that I wouldn't be embarrassed to answer the door in!

Just normal clothes? I've gone from always being cold to feeling warm a lot, especially with artificial heating. I hate layers and jumpers.

Fluffy slippers and big cosy cardigan I crocheted Grin

I love the idea of fluffy home crotched or knitted cardis etc but aren't they a huge pain to wash and dry, especially if your house is cold?

Yep, I am one of those that even if the heating is on, if I'm sat still, I'm like a block of ice.

If I go into work, it's much warmer than my house, plus I do lots of walking around. Wfh is sitting at the laptop all day.

Also, who heats a house when you're the only one home for hours and you're only in one room? And you still feel the cold even if it's heated? I left my heating on its timer as of I was at work. So heat in the morning to help everyone out of bed and then back on on time to warm the house up for home time.

@Hopdathelf
Meters as in PAYG.
Surely you've heard of them?

Auntienumber8 · 01/09/2021 00:21

I bought some gardening clogs that are lined with teddy bear fleece, they were 12.99 from a garden centre, really warm.

Hopdathelf · 01/09/2021 21:31

I have hear of a pre payment meter thanks @ISpyCobraKai. But everyone has a meter of some sort so just referring to electricity being on a meter isn’t clear, hence my question. No need for your arsey response.

@Cantthinkofanything123

I bought a heated blanket/throw from Argos last year to keep warm when WFH - literally life changing!
I have one too! I love it!

I have an oodie I wear of a night but if I working from home I wear thermal leggings and long sleeved thermal top. Or a cheap tracksuit from boohoo.

Not very glam but I look dressed.

NotMeNoNo · 01/09/2021 21:38

Blanket (real wool)
Merino or heattech thermals (Uniqlo/Mountain Warehouse)
Layers of jumpers and hoodies
Turtle doves fingerless mitts

Working at home (garden office) was a chilly and expensive experience last winter.

Layers. Soft leggings, long sleeved T-shirt, fluffy socks, long sleeved smock that I wear as a short dress. If I'm still cold I'll put on another pair of leggings and if it's really cold I'll put on another T shirt under my smock. Woolly hat helps keep heat in too.
I wear coordinating colours so I'm presentable.

If you are sat working and get cold then a wheat bag or water bottle under your feet helps.
Oh - I think I may have found it. Is it the Relaxwell by Dreamland? www.argos.co.uk/product/7074572?clickSR=slp:term:heated%20throw:1:37:1
That's the one I have had. The cats took it over whilst purring and dribbling and it's been pulled to shreds. Cats love heated blankets.
