Welcome everyone, this is a thread for all of those that would like to support each other in the lead up to Christmas, in our efforts to reduce our waists. All those that suspect or are going through perimenopause are welcome.
I have tagged everyone from our August thread: this thread is for September onwards, so we can continue using the old thread in the meantime. @Katekarate @ginsparkles @CakeandGo @badpuma @HelpMeTree @RoseAddict @SailorGeri @Bambooshoot @LlamaofDrama @GreySweater @MrsDThomas @shallwegoforawalk @torquewench @foxandbee @HoliHormonalTigerLilly @pastaparadise @theghostofchristmasarse @CharmingScene @Rupeertpenrysmistress @katplva @OverbyYer @dudsville @isthismylifenow @boon @ThatsAllFolks @AliciaMayEmory @Cornishbelle @Purplepeopleeaterz @Eggmcmuffin @MinnieMountain @AttaGirrrrl @TheRealKateAdie @Badgerstmary @Jackieweaverishere @pinkcattydude @EarringsandLipstick @VivaDixie @AliciaMayEmory @JMAngell @GarethBatesManBun @polkadotpjs @HappyHedgehog247 @Tiggles @Leftbutcameback @Itwasgoodwhileitlasted @Timeforredwine

Welcome back @EssexLioness ! Sounds like you had fun!

Welcome to the thread @WeeChewy !

Wow @Happyface120 !! Ultramarathon! That's awesome, my first session in the gym nearly killed me so I'm in awe.

@keiratwiceknightly well done! Fantastic loss!

So most of the week has been ok, but dealing with inheritance stuff and organising to put Dads house on the market sent me into a comfort food place for a day or two. Picked myself up, dusted myself off and I'm back in a positive (ish!) place. Went a little over calories yesterday at 1500 but not to bad. Working today as well so hoping to stay within calories, nothing to tempt me at the shop!

Roarsomemore · 12/09/2021 07:43

I'd like to join! I'm 40 and I've put on half a stone all on my stomach. Periods are heavier and noticing pmt is worse than previous. Keeping an eye on things but may visit GP.

I'm at the contemplation stage regarding trying to lose the weight if I'm honest. As others have said, now the kids are back in school I can try and do some activities. Going to try to makes swaps with diet, eg freddo instead of full chocolate bar, and start from there. Can ramp up the effort if no results are seen.

EssexLioness · 12/09/2021 13:12

Welcome @WeeChewy and @Roarsomemore.

Thanks @ginsparkles, yes I had a lovely relaxing time. Sounds like you’ve had a lot of stress so comfort food entirely understandable.

I have a really busy week coming up so not sure how the exercise will go, but the week after looks much more doable and I will focus on eating healthily in the meantime. Finding it hard getting my eating back to normal after coming back home as I feel really snacky a lot of the time. Having extra carbs while away seems to have really thrown my hunger levels off and I am having to be more disciplined than usual which is hard. My usual eating really curbs the hunger and I am more or less back on track now but it was interesting to see how much of a difference it all made.

I have no idea how much I weigh, I've had covid so have lost my appetite for the past week. Hoping that means I will have lost something, as long as I don't make up for it when my appetite returns!

CatsLikeBoxes · 12/09/2021 23:05

I've had a good week exercise-wise: have walked just over 100k steps, done 30-45 mins workout before work each day, then yoga yesterday and today.... now I just need to keep it up, and tackle the food.

I like eating, and I'm aiming for something I can sustain, so I'm going with trying to avoid eating other than mealtimes. And I'm not aiming for sylph-like - just fit(ish), toned-ish and a flatter stomach

WeeChewy · 13/09/2021 09:27

Good morning and happy Monday. Does anyone use their BMR rate to follow a calorie deficit diet? Apparently my BMR is 1594, I'm hoping this is sustainable for me everyday xx

boon · 14/09/2021 22:56

@keiratwiceknightly

Morning. Just popping in to report a 3lb loss this week which I'm v pleased with. Takes me a whisker under the very top of healthy BMI. Lots more of this to come I hope.
@keiratwiceknightly well done! 👍
ginsparkles · 16/09/2021 13:33

How is everyone doing? I have been plodding along maintaining but with everything happening it's ok. Been at the gym twice this week, it's starting to feel routine and not a chore!

Food wise still struggling, but not being too hard on myself, being good when I can and being kind to myself when I need it.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

EssexLioness · 16/09/2021 18:25

Well done on the gym @ginsparkles!
I am really struggling at the moment. Eaten ridiculous amounts of junk the last week and the weight is piling back on. I feel dreadful for eating all the right stuff and haven’t done any running or exercise for a week. Beginning to get really fed up with it but just cannot get my head back in the game, which is then making me worry about putting on all the weight I have already lost

KILNAMATRA · 16/09/2021 20:24

Tomorrow just put your runners on. That's the start, then try a 20 mon walk straight after school run, if you have one, or at lunchtime.. if I dont move in the morning thats it, no hope for the rest of the day.. I'll be doing it with ya.. 🙂

ginsparkles · 16/09/2021 20:39

@EssexLioness I feel exactly the same, it's a real battle, but I do feel better for making myself get to the gym. You have come so far, you can do this. It just takes one step. Let's get back to daily planning, daily updating. We can do this! We are in it together

Fearofawelshplanet · 16/09/2021 20:42

Can I join please. Just had exercise mat and ball delivered. No periods anymore, 44. I'm 5ft 8 and 11 Stone 6, I want to tone up. So IF 16:8 and cutting out bread. Looking forward to using exercise bike and yoga stretches.

EssexLioness · 16/09/2021 20:57

Welcome @Fearofawelshplanet 😊

Ok so plan, go for a run tomorrow as I was really enjoying them. @KILNAMATRA I am exactly the same, I turn into a right couch potato if I don’t get my activity in first thing.

Food wise hopefully won’t be too bad as I have already eaten pretty much whatever junk we had in the house 🙄 Will report back tomorrow… interesting that I dropped off this thread when I was struggling, which wouldn’t have helped! Sorry you’re struggling too @ginsparkles

OP posts:
zighead · 17/09/2021 19:58

I'm struggling too and have eaten six Mars bars tonight which really won't have helped. Blush
Fed up with my job and also I hadn't lost any weight in a week despite being so good.
Onwards and upwards for us all Smile

EssexLioness · 17/09/2021 20:37

Sorry to hear that you’re struggling @zighead, well done for checking in and being accountable.
I have had a better day today. Stuck to my meal plan and found it ok. Didn’t go for a run but I did do lots of work in the garden, and it was very physical so I’m counting that as today’s exercise.
How’s everyone else doing? Have a lovely weekend!

ginsparkles · 17/09/2021 23:05

Rough day today, couldn't sort out proper food for lunch and am grumpy with myself.

Just tried on clothes for a night out tomorrow and I'm so disappointed in how little of my wardrobe still fits me. I really have to do something about this. It's really upsetting now.

EssexLioness · 18/09/2021 07:22

Sorry @ginsparkles, I can totally relate to that feeling of nothing that fits. It’s horrible but try not let it detract too much from your night out. Hope you have fun, then afterwards you can refocus. You can do it!

ginsparkles · 18/09/2021 07:27

Thanks @EssexLioness ... I remember so many evenings watching my mum feel miserable about what to wear, and I'm not going to get into that pattern. Feeling more positive and focussed today. So I'm putting on my big girl pants (hypothetically and literally it seems!) and going to start again on Monday. I can and I will do this!
Hope everyone has a good day x

EssexLioness · 18/09/2021 08:35

@ginsparkles glad ur feeling more positive this morning 😊

OP posts:
zighead · 18/09/2021 14:17

Thanks @EssexLioness I will try and get back on it on Monday as just feel demotivated and crap today.
Have a good night out @ginsparkles

takingmytimeonmyride · 20/09/2021 16:05

The covid diet has done me good. 79.8kg before, 78.2kg now. And my appetite still hasn't properly returned, I couldn't even manage the light bites on the lunch menu in the pub yesterday. But I did a 34 mile bike ride yesterday and have done 18,000 steps today, so hopefully the weight will stay off.

VikingNorthUtsire · 20/09/2021 18:15

Hi everyone, I missed the last thread. Think I might lurk for a bit and get inspired by you all. I've just measured myself and my bust, waist and hips are all the same number Shock

It's all a vicious cycle isn't it? Broken sleep leads to brain fog leads to mindless snacking leads to broken sleep.

ginsparkles · 24/09/2021 13:13

Hi everyone, I dropped off radar a bit. It was my late dads birthday this week, and the day after marked 6 months since we lost him so I have given myself some time to grieve and bury myself in stodgy bad food. But I have kept at the gym and have managed to maintain. Maintenance seems to be no issue, losing just isn't happening right now.

Any hoo... I have a friends birthday party coming up in November and there's a dress I really want to wear, I'm using it as my focus and motivation. So starting now, I'm writing down what I eat. Good or bad. I'm going to sort this. There will be wobbles, it's a horrid year, but not improving the weight won't help, and I know this.

Hope your feeling better @takingmytimeonmyride !

And sending love and skinnier vibes to everyone

BogRollBOGOF · 24/09/2021 16:05

I had a good couple of weeks at the start of term but a bit derailed this week due to a DC yo-yoing in and out of school and my carby week for hormones. I ran a race on Sunday so have also been recovering. So I've not tried to fight the flow, but still tried to be fairly sensible, but more of a maintaining week than loosing. I'll get back to MFP on Monday. My plan is 2 5:2 days of 800 cals (but won't sweat at it as long as it's under 1000) and aim for a base of 1650 on other week days. I exercise a lot and am building towards a HM in Nov, so need some flex to fuel long runs. I haven't linked my sports watch to MFP for the exercise calories as I'd rather manually consider what I need each day and add a portion of them as needed.

Roarsomemore · 24/09/2021 19:28

Checking in too. I've realised that trying to calorie count makes me obsessed with food so have realised I just need to up my activity levels. Went for a quick walk lunch time.
