What’s a weird/unusual but ultimately pointless, mundane fact about yourself?

Mine is that I always end up sleeping with my head at the foot of the bed. Don’t know how I end up there or why I do it. Partner never notices me performing backflips either!

I can't see white on yellow or yellow on white.

I wish advertisers, sign makers and website designers would create content that contrasts in tone so I can read stuff.

Jaxhog · 25/08/2021 11:00

I had all my canine (eye) teeth removed when I was 12. I can never become a vampire.

BippityBoppity87 · 25/08/2021 11:02

I damaged my eye when I was a toddler by running into a broken shelf. One of the muscles doesn't work properly as a result and I couldn't move my eye up and down for years. It's since corrected itself and now have no issues. Brown's syndrome I think it's called

BippityBoppity87 · 25/08/2021 11:05

As a PP mentioned. Caffeine doesn't affect me either. Can easily fall asleep after a large cup of coffee. But I also have ADHD, so I don't know if it's to do with that

BippityBoppity87 · 25/08/2021 11:07

@TableDesk those eyes are beautiful!

happymummy12345 · 25/08/2021 14:19

Both my thumbs bend backwards, the right slightly more so than the left. If I do a thumbs up it automatically bends back, I have to move it so it's up straight, it would never just be upright on its own. (People assume it hurts but it honestly doesn't).

Also not me but my son was born with 12 toes, 6 on each foot. And 2 skin tags, 1 on each little finger. We had no idea about any of it until the birth (the midwife couldn't quite believe it). He had an operation under GA to remove both extra toes and both the skin tags when he was just over a year old.

Aww thankyou @BippityBoppity87

Was already tricky in school when you had to say in french "my hair is brown, my eyes are emmmm blue, green, brown, grey..."

MollyBloomYes · 26/08/2021 01:04

My surname is untraceable apparently. Did a module at university about history of surnames and tracing them back. Tutor tried to do mine and was completely flummoxed, apparently the 'style' of my name (most surnames come from either a profession eg Baker, a place or location or relation eg Richardson = Richard's son) didn't line up with the right time period for when that kind of name was being used. She spent a whole semester trying to track it down and had to admit defeat! Suffice to say I'm NEVER changing my name especially now I'm divorced and have reclaimed it from the double barrelled compromise I signed up to when married. DCs have now got my name too and I hope they don't change it either!

EpitomeOfIndifference · 26/08/2021 02:41

I find four-leafed clovers.

It’s almost as if they jump out at me, like they want to be found (this sounds very weird, I know). I don’t need to be looking, I just can’t help but see them. They catch my attention. I’ve been able to do it since I was a small child.

I have found hundreds and hundreds of them. I have even spotted them while on horseback, riding in a field. My mother didn’t believe I could see them from the horse until I directed her to some.

My dad and grandmother could do it to some extent but not nearly like me. It’s possibly the most interesting thing about me.

WeirdAndWonderfulMedical · 26/08/2021 03:15

My appendix os on the left

My large intestine is where my small intestine should be and vice versa

I have two different medical conditions that affect 1 in 100,000 people

lborgia · 26/08/2021 05:40

@BippityBoppity87 - there a specific gene that decides your reaction to caffeine, I've been tested for it.

They were doing other stuff and I asked them about it because I've had a life time of people being very bossy, trying to keep me away from caffeine.

It proved it had almost zero effect on me. Or rather, it just means you metabolise it very quickly if I remember right.

I also have ADD though...Hmm maybe they'll find a link in the genes?!

lborgia · 26/08/2021 05:45

@MollyBloomYes - can you describe what sort of name it is?

Is it a word that exists already? Like BloomGrin. Or is it a collection of letters that otherwise doesn't come up?

Fascinating!

vampirethriller · 26/08/2021 07:23

My daughter was also born with 12 fingers. They had little nails and everything. She had them removed when she was tiny.

MollyBloomYes · 26/08/2021 23:15

@lborgia it could be one of two and I think that's where the confusion lies! Either it's a 'relative' name OR it's a 'place' name. Either way it's a 'something belonging to (name)'. Except the name in question is far too late in the game as a first name to fit either of those surname patterns iyswim. To make it an extreme (and of course not truthful example) it would be like using the name...I don't know Jason or something to fit in these ancient medieval surname conventions. Except the name in question isn't quite as modern as that! Just a a different time period to when these names were settling and starting to be passed on as surnames from generation to generation.

It really was an absolutely fascinating module. I hated every other compulsory medieval module I had to take for my subject but this one in my final year really redeemed the department for me Grin

MollyBloomYes · 26/08/2021 23:17

Someone's going to come along and tell me Jason's a medieval name now and I have a horrible feeling it is 😂

Anordinarymum · 26/08/2021 23:18

@AnnoyedByAlfieBear

My heart is back to front.
Wow
LaurieFairyCake · 26/08/2021 23:20

What a bunch of absolute weirdos we all are Grin

Anordinarymum · 26/08/2021 23:25

I know when I am close to water in that I can sense the water table underground.

I feel uncomfortable not being near water, I don't mean rivers or lakes, I mean the general feel of the land. If it is dry I feel dry and don't like being there.

I can also sing like Anastasia but none of my family knows.

GinJeanie · 26/08/2021 23:26

I've never had any wisdom teeth (confirmed by x-ray)
I was born with a hairy back (It's migrated to my face now 🙄🧔).

Anordinarymum · 26/08/2021 23:27

@Mogloveseggs

I have 3 nipples
So do I. One of them is under my arm !
Buttybach · 26/08/2021 23:27

I close my eyes whenever I'm putting clothes on. No idea why!

MumofSpud · 26/08/2021 23:30

@MyShoelaceIsUndone

I know there’s going to be thunder and lightning as I get a headache and the bags under my eyes get dark
Me too - 24 hours before thunder I get a headache - like a human barometer!
NeverDropYourMoonCup · 26/08/2021 23:32

I have one perfectly normal detached earlobe and one that's attached and slightly wonky/pointed.

DP doesn't have toenails on his little toes, which he's passed on to his DC.

MumofSpud · 26/08/2021 23:34

My DD was born with a little but deep hole in the back of her hand where she had been sucking it in the womb.
The doctor said she was a 'sucky' baby (she did love a dummy!)
Now she is 15 and has a little scar where it was.

HurryOnHome · 26/08/2021 23:44

I want to know properly about the Marmite and Horlicks!!

I share a couple of the oddities already mentioned. Thought it would be outing to say which, but clearly I'm not as special as I thought Grin
