Which has made me feel weirdly content! What have you done today to make you feel like this? I could do with a few different, new tasks to add to my list Smile

PS found a chile con carne at the bottom so now I don't need to cook tomorrow. Hurrah for small wins!

This may be the most wholesome post I have ever read on Mumsnet (and I've been here years, I'm a frequent name changer) Grin

Took the handheld vacuum out to the car and just did the seats plus one footwell with the charge that was left (it was on max so didn't last long!). Used three different attachments and felt very satisfied. Trying to get better at appreciating small jobs being done and not just feeling bad because I didn't manage the whole thing (in this case, cleaning the entire car inside and out). It's better than it was and that'll do for today!

I also have dinner in the slow cooker and feel very content about that, the house is starting to smell delicious Smile

Ridingthegravytrain · 22/08/2021 17:48

I vacuumed under all the beds. Satisfying and horrifying in one fell swoop

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 22/08/2021 17:54

Went blackberry picking at the park with DD then made a huge pot of blackberry and Apple compote. Half has gone in the oven with some crumble mix on top and the other half is cooling to be added to porridge for breakfast the next few days. House smells lovely like sweet tangy fruit and cinnamon.

Mindymomo · 22/08/2021 17:54

I hoovered my stairs, DH usually does it with a brush and doesn’t get all the dust up, hoover was half full, so it really needed a decent clean.

LavendulaAngustifolia · 22/08/2021 17:56

We took a load of cardboard to the recycling centre today. It's been sat there for weeks and I keep forgetting it's there till I open the boot.

Thank you @Outfoxedbyrabbits I think that's the nicest thing I've had said about me on here!

@LavendulaAngustifolia and you always think "why didn't I do that sooner?!" Well, I would! Smile

I went to home bargains and bought 3 wash baskets, the clean washing which currently sits in a large pile will be organised into a basket for each person in the house so at least it should be slightly easier to put outfits together and I am hoping maybe socks won't be lost forever anymore but I know I'm kidding myself Grin

CurryLover55 · 22/08/2021 18:03

Found my kitchen table! And DH has sanded it down too. Hugely satisfying & feel better about our guests coming on Friday. We never have guests!

sleepykits · 22/08/2021 18:09

@CurryLover55

Stock took?!
@CurryLover55 probably grammatically incorrect! I did a stock take of my freezer.... took everything out and wrote down what I had.

@BastardMonkfish I love HomeBargains! I've started buying more grocery stuff from them now too.

The fruit and veg is quite cheap, I got a punnet of blackberries for 79p and 4 yo DS obliged me by eating half, so I can feel slightly less guilty about his summer diet of McDonald's and crisps Blush

CurryLover55 · 22/08/2021 18:14

sleepykits I so need to do that! My freezer is rammed & I don’t have much idea of what’s in it! It’s one of those big American style fridge/freezers which actually is rubbish for storage space. I would never have one again.

beigebrownblue · 22/08/2021 18:15

cleaned kitchen floor, surfaces.

Off to holiday park for three days with three teenagers tomorrow (yes, honestly)

went through all of my cupboards and 'stock took' them in order to find tins etc to take/decanted rice, pasta etc into small containers so that we can save money when we are there. I don't intend to cook but teenagers want to...

Carrying on making sure everything is ready for college for DD early September.

Content that I've made early preparations and she has as well, to avoid last minute rush the week before college. Yes, all that makes me feel content.

WineRipened · 22/08/2021 18:22

I am much like the poster who hoovered the car. I'm either an all or nothing person and tend to teeter into the 'nothing' side. So I'm hungover today and am doing things in tiny increments. I have eaten 3 times. Washed dishes and cleaned kitchen (wiped counters down). Showered and put on a nice moisturiser. I suspect I have a few more meals left in me today. I may put away all the tights I pulled out to try on last night. Or I may not. I'm calling this a relaxing day. It's not. But I say it is.

BerryPieandCustard · 22/08/2021 18:24

I organised my unit in the living room.

The sky and internet router sit on the top and it has one part with a door and the other has a couple of shelves. My shelves are now clean and beautifully arranged with some new photos and the cupboard houses my daughters stationary and colouring books and card/board games. All the crap has been put in the recycling/bin and 2 outgrown games have gone in the charity bag in the shed.

Only took 30 minutes but so satisfying and it has encouraged me to tackle the pantry tomorrow

SpindleWhorl · 22/08/2021 18:25

@CurryLover55

Stock took?!
Yes, obviously it should be 'tooken stock' Grin

Play nicely.

MirandaMarple · 22/08/2021 18:25

Given my tent a spring clean. Got back from what was probably the last trip of the season this morning and re-pitched in the garden.

Took the handheld hoover to it inside, mopped it, and wiped the whole thing down inside and out with Milton (stops mould) it's a 6 man and I'm bloody worn out!

mowglika · 22/08/2021 18:26

Finished off bits and bobs that needed eating in the fridge so am starting the week with a clean slate of meals.. the meals really worked too (carrot and lentil spiced soup with chicken wings and sweet potato fries, and for dinner lamb chops with sweet potato and spinach curry)

And then cooling and saving the pea water from dc dinner for my orchids which always gives them a boost

And then finally writing out an activity chart for dc that I can point to when they complain about being bored - half way through holidays but still Grin

OP I feel a stock take coming on, love finishing food and seeing an empty freezer drawer

sleepykits · 22/08/2021 18:32

@mowglika mine's a chest freezer so I tend to lose track of what's at the bottom of it.

OP posts:
sleepykits · 22/08/2021 18:35

@BerryPieandCustard that's the thing... I now feel positively charged to do more 😂

I have just finished building a small wall in part of my garden, as the man next door had a pile of decent bricks he was throwing away, I always go around, looking for bits and pieces, that others throw away. so now got a nice little attractive wall in part of the garden, all my own work. It's just rained on it a bit, and looks better now some dust has washed off the bricks.

Winemewhynot · 22/08/2021 18:58

I cleaned my fridge out before the shopping delivery came, and then cleaned with washing machine with some dettol stuff I’d ordered. Made Sunday lunch for visiting parents, tidied up, and now drinking wine and watching frozen 2 with toddler child awaiting a takeaway.

A Sunday well spent brings a week of content!

Auntienumber8 · 22/08/2021 19:17

DS came with me to choose a new rug and some new cushions and pillows. He is 20 and it was nice to have some time together as his time is filled with work, football, gym and his GF. When I got back DH had carpet shampooed the sitting room.
