Premier Inn Hypnos mattress

Both me and dh hate our fairly new and expensive mattress and need to replace it.

I’ve read about the premier inn Hypnos mattress being quite good. Dh has stayed at a premiere inn and says they’re comfy. I never have but am thinking about booking a night away just to test the mattress.

Are the ones in the premiere inns the same as the ones you can buy on their website? It says something about it being a “domestic version”.

I've no idea which ones are used in Premier Inss but I've got a Hypnos mattress - it's one specifically designed for bed frames as opposed to divans because that's what I've got - and I have no complaints. It's still very comfy 5 years on.

We have one as I used to work there and we could get discount. They're amazing and are the same ones that you get in the hotels.

Howshouldibehave · 21/08/2021 18:40

We have a Premier Inn Hypnos mattress bought last year-it’s brilliant. We got it as we always slept really well in Premier Inns. We got the one with drawers which are really useful as well

For those who have it and are happy with it is it this one with the wool topper you have?

DH has one as he used to travel a lot & liked them. He's happy.

I have a Vispring. Bliss but heavy & needs regular turning. The Hypnos doesn't need turning.

We bought one with the wool topper and it was lovely for about 18 months but went lumpy quite quickly.

We've since bought a feather and black mattress which is insanely good but I don't know what your budget is like.

I’m worried about the thought of a wool topper. Budget isn’t an issue for an amazing mattress. Current one was well over 1k, good make, good reviews and I hate it. I don’t want to make another expensive mistake.

I can't remember what model mine is but it looks similar to the 'Hampton' in their current range.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 21/08/2021 18:52

I think dh and I are the only people on the planet who were totally underwhelmed by them. Mind you we have a Tempur mattress so were used to being really comfortable.

ToffeeNotCoffee · 21/08/2021 18:52

Hypnos beds are wonderful. They can be purchased from Dreams Bed Warehouse.

At our most recent stay in a Premier Inn two months ago, they had changed their mattress and it wasn't a Hypnos. Boo.

CovidCorvid · 21/08/2021 19:02

Just looked at the feather and black website and they sell Harrison spinks mattresses which is what we currently have….an expensive pillow top one and we hate it.

Dh won’t let me have a memory foam one….we had one previously and he hated it. Got as far as putting a deposit on a Tempur last time snd he made me cancel the order.

Can you talk him round again ,all those type of mattresses have 6 weeks return guarantees on them these days.

hellcatspangle · 21/08/2021 19:05

I love the premier inn Hypnos mattresses - but dd has just bought IKEA £170 horvag mattresses as she's on a budget and they're great (especially for anyone who doesn't want to spend £££)

girlmom21 · 21/08/2021 19:05

Go to Dreams and try their sleep match technology - it's supposed to match you up with the perfect mattress Smile

Yes, I think a visit to dreams may be in order. We did this last time and got matched to a Tempur. 😆

We had a Hypnos mattress and weren't impressed with it at all. We now have the IKEA Hovag on all 4 of our beds and think they are great not to mention a lot cheaper!

CovidCorvid · 21/08/2021 19:08

He ranted at me today about the current “bloody memory foam” mattress and saying it’s too hot and he’d told me he didn’t want memory foam. I had to point out the current one is Not memory foam, it’s pocket sprung coil normal mattress thing…..he’s gone quiet now! Grin

Get a memory foam topper just for your side?

CovidCorvid · 21/08/2021 19:10

Two recommendations for IKEA…..I’m off to IKEA next month so will check that out. I’ve just looked at a video on their website and it looks soft/squishy even though it’s meant to be firm. I don’t like soft mattresses. I’d prefer firm, dh would prefer medium.

Would we not have a ridge in the middle of the bed?

I really don’t think the premier beds mattress are special at all. No way would I consider buying one. We have a Relyon memory foam mattress, it is superb and very comfortable.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 21/08/2021 19:17

I am the hottest person alive and I find the Tempur a bit chilly, not hot at all. You were matched to it because it's the best EVER Grin

rookiemere · 21/08/2021 19:22

We got a Tempur - thankfully through Dreams - as meant we were able to change it for TM Worlds most expensive non memory foam mattress ever.
I found the Tempur too hot and felt like I was sleeping in custard, oh and difficult to (ahem) enjoy marital relations as we both kept sinking in to it although perhaps that was a good thing as we ended up swapping it.

Conversely I love the Premier Inn mattresses- may be worth a visit to Dreams to see what you both like. Guy in the shop didn't recommend two different singles - said it didn't really work that well particularly if one was a much different style or height.

pointythings · 21/08/2021 19:29

I think the problem with mattresses is that they're so individual. I got a new one this year after my old one was basically ruined by having a slatted bed. I've got this one: www.memoryfoamwarehouse.co.uk/products/4g-air-titan-xl-memory-foam-mattress/ and it's honestly the best thing I have ever slept on - but I did a lot of research before picking this one. I've also replaced my bed and so it's on a non-slatted ottoman base, which makes a difference.

Katyy · 21/08/2021 19:29

Hypnos here, it’s medium firm cost about 1k for the mattress, two year old now and very comfy.
