The Jam had one genius (Paul Weller), one decent drummer and then Bruce Foxton.

So, how good is your bass playing, then?

There's not a song that isn't utterly dependent upon Foxton's bass parts. Try imagining Down in the Tube Station at Midnight without the intro - or Start! - or Town Called Malice. David Watts would have been somewhat different and he also sang backing vocals, an intrinsic part of their sound with the blending of harmonies, throughout.

It's so hard to choose! But it would definitely be Fleetwood Mac, Pearl Jam and Foo Fighters for me.
