I've had a letter from Santander to say I have q dormant Instant Saver account so I am heading into town to find out how much is in there.

Anyone want to help guess?

For background, I opened the account over 15 years ago and at that time was earning about £28k.

I drove a new car and saved up enough to travel the world, but what is left in this forgotten account.

Did I stash a cheeky grand. Or £100 to open it. Or is it empty or maybe containing £4.36.

I'm quite excited.

The interest rate on an instant saver will be rubbish so even with compound interest is unlikely to be much more than you ever had put in. On the basis you’ve not missed it, I reckon less than £500. If I had to give a specific value £271.84.

I just got dividends from shares my dad took out in my name before he died 13 years ago and didn’t know about it, the dividends were 200 quid! When I tracked the account down though it was only c shares so worth pennies, but the 200 quid was nice al the same!
