I've had a letter from Santander to say I have q dormant Instant Saver account so I am heading into town to find out how much is in there.

Anyone want to help guess?

For background, I opened the account over 15 years ago and at that time was earning about £28k.

I drove a new car and saved up enough to travel the world, but what is left in this forgotten account.

Did I stash a cheeky grand. Or £100 to open it. Or is it empty or maybe containing £4.36.

I'm quite excited.

What do you all think?

Having a clearout last year I found a statement from a long forgotten account. It had a balance of over £1,000. All excited, I took it to the bank to discover that I'd spent most of it in the past and it had £9.83 in it.

Ah well.

I had about forty quid in a dormant PO account. I think about.... £42.12

JacquelineCarlyle · 20/08/2021 13:23

I'm hoping it's loads Op but my guess is £27.76

thanksforyourcommentrandomman · 20/08/2021 13:26

I got a statement from TSB yesterday from a long forgotten savings account containing the princely sum of £3.32 so I'm going with that

eurochick · 20/08/2021 13:26

I had a similar experience a few years ago so based on that I will go with £450.

Pipsquiggle · 20/08/2021 13:28

Another guess £5.63 - this was what was in my dormant Barclays account a few years ago

Teenagers2grownups0 · 20/08/2021 13:29

£17.85

chesirecat99 · 20/08/2021 13:33

I say £1.26.

I'm guessing you emptied the account rather than closing it and there was interest owing that was paid in later that has been sitting there accruing for 15 years.

Or maybe less. I just got £35ish from a dormant savings account that way but the account had been a special high rate offer that had had the proceeds of a house sale sitting in it.

I hope it's thousands though!

Heifer · 20/08/2021 13:33

£13.28 - don't spend it all at once

AndSoFinally · 20/08/2021 13:37

I'm going to guess 74p

RoseRedRoseBlue · 20/08/2021 13:38

I need to know!

Bopahula · 20/08/2021 13:38

I think £76.27p.

I think you had less than a hundred in it so you didn't go back for it, and then forgot. :)

Wassailer · 20/08/2021 13:39

I have just been inspired to look at my childhood savings accounts, the booklets I still have even though they were last used in 1989. I have a total of £2.20, so including interest £2.45?

Based on this bit of research and accounting for dates and relative incomes and m thinking you probably have £245.

Belledan1 · 20/08/2021 13:40

I had 9.09 in a Halifax one I forgot about. Hope its lots.
