I've had a letter from Santander to say I have q dormant Instant Saver account so I am heading into town to find out how much is in there.

Anyone want to help guess?

For background, I opened the account over 15 years ago and at that time was earning about £28k.

I drove a new car and saved up enough to travel the world, but what is left in this forgotten account.

Did I stash a cheeky grand. Or £100 to open it. Or is it empty or maybe containing £4.36.

I'm quite excited.

What do you all think?

Love this - I’m going for £54

FreekStar2 · 20/08/2021 12:55

Ha ha, I did exactly the same thing yesterday! There was £100.53 in mine!!

They were still Abbey National when I opened the account!!

Make sure you take ID and proof of any name change etc.

Apparently they have had a third party in to trace people who haven't changed their address with them, that is why they have managed to contact people who have completely forgotten about their accounts like me.

@WhatsErFace2020

Years ago when exDH and I were totally on our arses we moved some furniture around and under our bedside table we found an envelope containing £400!! It was the remainer of a car sale 2 years prior He had forgotten About!! That’s probs my one and only happy memory from our marriage 🤣

I’m going for £67.83

Similar - when DH and I were both unemployed and had been for nearly a year I got his old winter coats out of storage thinking I could sell some and found £600 in the pockets. DH said ' Oh yes! I used to stash money around the place'.

Cue searching everywhere but no more money!

TheTempest · 20/08/2021 13:08

I’m going for £233.16. Fingers crossed for you!

Well clearly op has had to have a quiet sit down as she debates (internally) whether to share the life changing news.
