I’ve left a bin….

In the house for 9 days, partially uncovered and full of chicken, milk cartons, bits of cooked salmon, etc.

What will I find when I return tonight?! Bit worried but didn’t expect to be away this long!

Maggots?

Joking... just a bin full..

yourstroobly · 17/08/2021 20:51

Totally maggots.
At the very least 1000 flies

Galassia · 17/08/2021 20:51

House full of flies?

PeterCorbeau · 17/08/2021 20:52

Probably just be a bit stinky but I wouldn't think maggots and thousands of flies inside your home.

Chocolatebuttercream · 17/08/2021 20:54

Possibly flies

FuckingFlumps · 17/08/2021 20:55

Your house will be full of flies and there will be lots of maggots.

You'll probably also be hit with a horrendous smell that will take a while to get rid of.

RandomUsernameHere · 17/08/2021 20:55

I reckon at best it will absolutely stink, at worst maggots. Good luck, update us when you get home Grin

Lassh · 17/08/2021 20:55

Maggots really!!!!

OP posts:
Megan2018 · 17/08/2021 20:55

I once had a bin overflowing with maggots, it was like a horror movie. But it’s never happened since. Just bad luck.
It might just smell or you may have flies. But it’s all sortable, don’t panic!

Lassh · 17/08/2021 20:55

Are people joking?

OP posts:
Megan2018 · 17/08/2021 20:56

I’m not joking no.

Lassh · 17/08/2021 20:57

It’s the last thing I need after the week I’ve had 😩

FuckingFlumps · 17/08/2021 20:57

@Lassh

Are people joking?
Why would we be joking. A bin full of old food especially uncovered meat left for over a week is literally a flies perfect breeding ground.
userxx · 17/08/2021 20:58

@Galassia

House full of flies?

Urgh. I'd turn around and run straight out.

Chocolatebuttercream · 17/08/2021 21:01

It just depends if any flies were in your house or not when you left. If no flies were inside then obviously you won't have maggots. Fingers crossed! And hope you are OK OP x

Disrespected · 17/08/2021 21:02

Maggots especially if house is hot too. We had in our wheelie bin the bag split. Loads of flies then maggots. Thankfully it was the week the bin cleaners came.

Lassh · 17/08/2021 21:03

Thanks @Chocolatebuttercream x

vodkaredbullgirl · 17/08/2021 21:04

Loads of flies, maggots and a big stench of rot.

AlmostSummer21 · 17/08/2021 21:09

You may or may not have maggots, they're not hard to get rid of, are you in a flat or house?

TheChosenTwo · 17/08/2021 21:09

We’ve had maggots in our outside bin before when it’s been mega hot but never inside although I’m fastidious about emptying bins before I go anywhere!
I reckon it’ll just stink, I don’t think you’ll have maggots unless it’s an uncovered bin and you already had flies in the house but I’m probably wrong about that Blush. Actually, after rereading your op you said the bin is partially covered (how?!), brace yourself!!
Good luck upon your return, please update us!

RosesandPumpkins · 17/08/2021 21:11

Try not to worry about it. Go in and deal with it straight away. It might not be as bad as you think! 💐 for your shite week

KurtWilde · 17/08/2021 21:11

Stench, maggots, flies. Sorry!

yourstroobly · 18/08/2021 09:54

Were there maggots, OP? 👀

latte101 · 18/08/2021 10:30

Bless you, OP. I hope your week gets better Thanks I think it'll just stink. Put it out as soon as you get in, open the window & door. X

Oldraver · 18/08/2021 10:41

Even without bagged meat flies will smell it and lay eggs on the bloody bag
