What's for dinner?

BlueLobelia · 15/08/2021 16:42

We have;

asparagus with hollandaise
chicken schnitzel with red cabbage and roast potatos
homemade trifle.

I am trying to have a 3 course sit-down Sunday family dinner.

I am trying to get my utterly impossible 4yo to sit for one course. We are having toast chicken thighs, mashed potato, cauliflower and broccoli, and probably a big argument.

Susannahmoody · 15/08/2021 16:46

Crikey what time shall I be round, op?

We're having chilli

YouJustDoYou · 15/08/2021 16:47

DH did a roast chicken with all the trimmings.

I'm now sitting with my nose pressed against the window, hoping to hear the chimes of the ice cream van.

FizzyPink · 15/08/2021 16:48

Chicken tikka kebabs, salad and Pinch of Nom yoghurt naan breads. Going on holiday tomorrow so trying to use up the contents of the fridge

zeromango · 15/08/2021 16:49

Sounds lovely OP! Much more inspired than us. Super boring over here - bolognaise and wholewheat pasta (I'm pregnant so I'm trying to be a little healthier!)

Strawberries and proper Greek yoghurt for pudding!

robotcollision · 15/08/2021 16:49

roast veg and couscous. DS is out and we couldn't be bothered to do a Sunday roast for just two of us.

Bearsbearsbears40 · 15/08/2021 16:50

I have some nice sausages to use, but following a row with DH I now just want Chinese takeaway 😥 🍷

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 15/08/2021 16:50

Braising steak slow cooked in gravy with jacket potato for DD and mixed veg for me. Pudding is blackberry and Apple compote (went scrumping this morning at the local park) with whipped cream.

Barkingdog · 15/08/2021 16:51

Spiced lamb meatballs with sumac roasted cauliflower and pomegranate. Really quick and easy and everyone likes it so no moaning at the dinner table!

AuntLydiasNewHairdo · 15/08/2021 16:53

Simply Cook Bang Bang Chicken.

Bookaholic73 · 15/08/2021 16:54

We are having what we call a ‘cheap and cheerful roast’.
Basically a roast with sausages instead of a joint of meat.

mrsbyers · 15/08/2021 16:55

So far most of a tub of M&S cereal milk clusters

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 15/08/2021 16:57

pulled pork with hash browns, corn on the cob and green salad

Cervicalflop · 15/08/2021 16:57

Stuffed Peppers filled with paneer cheese and other veg plus roasted, seasoned veg on the side. I really just wanted a greasy pizza from the takeaway but trying to be healthy.

Gtfcovid · 15/08/2021 16:57

Beef bourginon with pastry, baked potatoes and cabbage. Can’t wait!

Gtfcovid · 15/08/2021 16:58

Where did you get the red cabbage. Can’t find it for love or money

Yourstupidityexhaustsme · 15/08/2021 17:00

Back home after a few weeks at my mum’s due to her not being well. Up to my absolute EARS in housework so we’re having a very quick cheese and onion quiche (thanks Lidl), warm baby new potatoes from the ‘allotment’ with a little butter and salt and a side salad with balsamic glaze. Though it doesn’t sound it today is the second day of my diet so it’ll be portion controlled! 😂

Guaranteed you will be more appreciative than my loving family. :)

6 pm please. :)

Save me some trifle, please!

We're having fish finger tacos with charred sweetcorn salsa, pink pickled onions and spicy rice.

Waitrose microwaveable. :)

(Indeed, it all came from waitrose today, even the hollandaise).

YetAnotherWalk · 15/08/2021 17:09

side of salmon (honey, soy and garlic glaze) with tenderstem and Cornish new potatoes with butter and mint.

Theimpossiblegirl · 15/08/2021 17:09

DH is getting his ooni out.

That means pizza.

Labradabradorable · 15/08/2021 17:10

OP, your dinner sounds absolutely lovely. I adore asparagus with hollandaise!

We had a lateish lunch and we’re planning Nigella’s coq au Riesling. But now everyone is too hot and not hungry enough. So it’s going to be chorizo and tomato risotto. With home grown courgettes fried in olive oil. And goat milk Gouda to finish. Just as soon as I put this cursed laundry away….

BlueLobelia · 15/08/2021 17:10

Oh the trifle thing is an assembly. those little sponge fingers with pre-made jelly, pistacchio icecream, whipped cream (from a can) and grated chocolate.
