I've been listening to Red Handed (true crime and occasionally paranormal) and it's brilliant but want to try something different and maybe learn something new.

'This Podcast Will Kill You' - is about diseases, the epidemiology behind them etc. And the hosts come up with a cocktail drink to make based on them. Is not too heavy, and they have a sense of humour too.

No Such Thing as a Fish. Presented by the QI Elves, the researchers behind the tv programme QI.

You’ll learn loads of of amazing facts and trivia, and it’s really funny.

iusedtoloveopalfruits1 · 11/08/2021 22:23

I’m really enjoying killer psyche (a retired FBI Agent talks through some of her most famous cases) and the unsolved mysteries one is good if a bit annoying because they are still unsolved and therefore don’t have a satisfactory conclusion for a nosey cow like me Grin

I like light hearted podcasts:

  • shagged married annoyed
  • two hot takes

They walk among us

subsy1 · 11/08/2021 22:29

"Algorithm" sounds like it will be fantastic. Heard the trailer while listening to "Fake Doctors, Real friends" which is wonderful. It's JD and Turk analysing Scrubs episode by episode and chatting with other people from the show.

user1745 · 11/08/2021 22:29

I've been listening to Sawbones a lot recently. It's medical history, in a funny style, focusing on all the medical mistakes and bad medicine through the centuries.

Pucarbuile · 11/08/2021 22:30

Two from Gimlet - Reply All and Heavyweight.

OliveHenry · 11/08/2021 22:31

Something Rhymes With Purple - Susie Dent and Gyles Brandreth talking about words. More fun than it sounds Grin

coodawoodashooda · 11/08/2021 22:31

Rob beckitt and Josh

BraveGoldie · 11/08/2021 22:31

I like 'how did we get here' - its live mini therapy sessions, a different individual with a different challenge and story each episode. It is caring and human....

endoflevelbaddy · 11/08/2021 22:31

All Killa No Filla is my absolute favourite. Real Crime Profile and Women & Crime are close seconds.

Champagneforeveryone · 11/08/2021 22:32

I'm a fan of "For The Many" since DS started A level politics and needs at least one of us to have a passable understanding of current political affairs.

Plus there's quite a lot of smut, which I find pleasing Wink

Hidden Brain and Feel Better, Live More

NannyR · 11/08/2021 22:33

If you've been watching The Handmaids Tale, the podcast Eyes on Gilead is a great discussion about each episode. I also love This podcast will kill you as suggested above.

QueenofLouisiana · 11/08/2021 22:33

I’m a true crime fan:
Crime Junkie
Casefile
They Walk Among Us
International Infamy
Teachers Pet (a series)

You’re Dead to Me
The Rest is History
More or Less (statistics)
Newscast (Americast too, when it’s on)
No Such Thing As A Fish
Woman’s Hour

ImInStealthMode · 11/08/2021 22:34

No Such Thing As A Fish is really good for facts and fun, if you're into true crime / paranormal then Morbid should suit you, and for true crime well told I like Casefile.

A couple of friends swear by My Dad Wrote A Porno for laughs but I haven't dived in yet.

I used to listen to Redhanded but have gone off them over the last year or so, I find them a bit smug.

RomainingCalm · 11/08/2021 22:35

Some great suggestions here that I'll have a listen to.

I like 'More or Less', 'Stories of our Times' and 'Moral Maze'.

Thebookswereherfriends · 11/08/2021 22:35

Something rhymes with purple - it’s susie Dent and Giles brandreth and is all about the origin of words. I find it fascinating.

ifellintoarabbithole · 11/08/2021 22:35

Ologies with Alie Ward - each episode focuses on a different science. Fascinating stuff!

Still1nLove · 11/08/2021 22:36

Shagged married annoyed

Bramble88 · 11/08/2021 22:40

My favourite murder
Crime junkie
Park predators
Counter clock

Thirtyrock39 · 11/08/2021 22:40

I love 'you're wrong about' which has quite a lot of crime episodes - loads of oj episodes
I recently spent a weekend listening to a series about the Manson murders and family on a podcast called 'you must remember this' which was brilliant
For non true crime I still love 'the high low' which finished at Xmas but I'd only started it last summer so have started listening to it again from the start
Happy place I still enjoy when they have a guest i like on

sadeyedladyofthelowlandsea · 11/08/2021 22:41

I really love Sideways presented by Matthew Syed. It's kind of psychology, but always based on a real life scenario. It's got some brilliant insights into the way our minds work without being too technical. Each episode is stand alone, so you don't feel like you have to listen to it in order.

My last binge-listen was the Battersea Poltergeist, which was jawdroppingly well done.
