I'll start with skinny co pornstar martini mix. Tasted incredibly sweet and synthetic. It stated use 1 part vodka to 3 parts mix. I tried that too sweet added more vodka so 50/50 just about drinkable. I drank another one with the reverse ratios, almost OK but I was so drunk I fell over and knocked the TV over.

The other downside was that it stank so much so that my empty glass had made the whole room stink.

Yes I love mine.

Flowers024 · 13/08/2021 13:42

Electric tin opener - 3x the price of a normal one, doesn’t work very well, takes up stupid amount of space - don’t bother!

Greenshed · 13/08/2021 15:35

Juicer and deep fat fryer - both in a cupboard gathering dust.
I love my bread maker, slow cooker and soup maker though, all get regular use. 😁

DanceForeverUnderTheLights · 13/08/2021 15:47

Vax carpet cleaner. Absolutely useless.
Cordless Hoover. It's top heavy, so it threw itself at the wall and gave itself concussion. Never really recovered after that, it would spit out more than it sucked, or turn off completely.
Various curling wands, heated rollers. My hair is v long and thick so curls drop out almost immediately, mostly before I've even left the house.
I do love my slow cooker though.

SO MANY BRAS!!

I'm autistic and have quite specific sensory needs and finding a bra that's comfortable, is actually supportive, works under my tops, and looks nice is impossible. Finding one that even fills two of those requirements is extremely rare. I have wasted so much money on bras, sports bras, bralettes, crop tops etc.

I'm going to buy a vacuum cleaner soon and this thread is making me think none of them are any good!

We have three cats and two puppies (plus kids) so need something that won't clog every two minutes. Sounds like Dyson and Shark are a bad call. We currently have one of those yellow wet and dry builder type vacuum cleaners (have been renovating), which is shit as a proper hoover. Henry always looks like a more colourful version of those to me so was reluctant but from the sounds of it, that might be my best bet?

Baggins15 · 13/08/2021 16:12

The shark hoover ,looked amazing and 1st couple days were fine untill I needed to do a full house hoover and realised i couldn't do a whole house in 17 mins (9 mins on max ) with 4 children and now 3 foster children it's not a big family house hoover .If it my just myself and partner would be great .(really want my Henry hoover back ) .but blocks with anything larger that a few bits hair!! .

pictish · 13/08/2021 16:13

Look, Henry is a cumbersome bugger who can’t corner for toffee…but he’s greedy as fuck and he’s not fussy either. Henry loves to hoover.

TatianaBis · 13/08/2021 16:15

I have a Miele dog and cat vacuum and it’s fine.

LadyEloise1 · 13/08/2021 16:18

Buying Shoes/Boots over the Internet- they rarely fit and it's such a palaver and so expensive returning them as I'm not in the UK.
Will I ever learn Blush

CliffsofMohair · 13/08/2021 16:44

Nicer Dicer. Squasher Tosser more like.

AmyDudley · 13/08/2021 17:05

An idiot paper shredder I got from argos, it is supposed to take up to 5 sheets of paper. In reality it will take one very very thin piece at a time and after a couple of pieces it jams and you have to sit sit for half an hour with a pair of tweezers and a vegetable knife prizing bits of paper out of its cutters until it will condescend to shred another couple of bits of paper.

It would be quicker and easier to eat the paper myself. I want to boot it up and down the hallway shouting 'I hate you' at it.

@Darlingx re your trenchcoat thing. I follow an American wardrobe blogger, who talks about how we often shop for our Fantasy Selves rather than the women we actually are. That's me I'm afraid, I shop for someone who is a few inches taller, and about 4 sizes smaller than the real me. I also had loads of smart clothes for going out in. I don't go out that much, so decided on improving the clothes I slob about wear on a daily basis. It seems maybe lots of us shop, not just clothes, but lifestyle cooking gadgets etc that are aspirational, revolving round freshly baked bread in the morning etc. I'm getting better at this stuff, but it's taken a long time as I'm old. I do however regret buying GHD straighteners, which were shit, and one of the plates stopped heating almost immediately after the guarantee expired.

I've tried numerous vacuum cleaners over the years and can recommend Shark. I've also recently purchased a hand held Shark which is brilliant.
They aren't cheap though but are way better than some other leading brands.

beguilingeyes · 13/08/2021 17:06

I always think I'll look like Lauren Bacall or Katherine Hepburn in a trenchcoat, but I'm not tall enough or thin enough and generally look like a sack tied around the middle.

Exercise equipment. I has a step once. I wish Couch To 5k had existed back then.

amispeakingenglish · 13/08/2021 17:08

New bikes for growing kids
Agree with the marriage licence too!

Rectangle airer with pegs on it , for the airing cupboard or bathroom to dry undies or socks etc
I thought it’d be quite good as it’s from Lakeland but it fell apart the next day. A few pegs fell off and then the bit at the top that you attach it with fell apart. One of the worst quality things I’ve ever bought.
Absolute rubbish !

JulesJules · 13/08/2021 17:38

Our cordless Dyson was pants. Bought on a black Friday deal, but even so was really expensive. We've got a Miele Cat and Dog now which is great.

Love our Panasonic bread maker which literally makes our daily bread as well as pizza dough etc. It's old (10yrs+) and still works perfectly. Also love my Dualit kettle and toaster, again years old and work perfectly.

Sandinyourshoes · 13/08/2021 17:41

Yogurt maker - never got anything but stringy, slimy unappetising yogurt.

Epilator - took ages, hair grew back immediately and got loads of ingrown hairs, back to shaving, far quicker and just as effective.

Kenwood dishwasher - washes dishes fine but after 18 months the plastic coating on the baskets started peeling off and the black metal underneath just flakes off, loads of gritty black flakes at the bottom of the dishwasher.

Lottery tickets. I daren’t work out how much I spent over the years but it will be in the thousands (what with being in a syndicate for decades, and buying our own tickets). Never won more than £80 back.

LadyEloise1 · 13/08/2021 17:46

I love my Miele Cat and Dog vacuum but have neither a cat or dog at the moment.

I make yoghurt and the key is correct temperature. A stringy and slimy texture suggests the temperature was too low. It should be 46C.

I like my Dyson handheld. I am a bit fantastical about cleaning and replacing filters and it has had a new battery but going strong nearly six years in.

Wexone · 13/08/2021 18:20

@ViewFromHalfway I have two little Jr. they shed constantly house can be covered with their white hair. Two cats too. plus have very long hair myself that's constantly shedding. you can not beat a miele hoover. the suction is unreal plus easy to pull around etc had a Henry but no where as powerful as the miele

TowandaForever · 13/08/2021 18:36

@Peanutsandchilli

It's a long time since I used reusable nappies but I didn't expect them to feel dry. I only expected them to absorb the wee.

This is why my children potty trained really early. Or so I imagined.

There used to be a big market for them second hand if you want to sell yours.

Blueskytoday06 · 13/08/2021 18:38

Rosalique 3 in 1. Utter rubbish.
