I’m still in bed, I got up briefly to make a second coffee but have retired again. DC1&2 are packing for Scout camp and DC3 is shouting at everyone to be quiet thereby making more noise than anyone else in the house as they are trying to sleep.
DC4 and DH went out early with my million apples and dropped them at the juicing farm, we should get 50-60 bottles of juice back.

PhloxOfSheep · 19/08/2021 10:05

Thank you Silkie! I was very much hoping that a chicken swing was exactly what it sounded like. It's always disappointing when things don't live up to their names. I also now want chickens with chicken swings (I've actually always wanted chickens, but now, even more so.)

Today's plans have been cancelled last minute and moved to tomorrow so I'm now contemplating what to do instead. I have so far decided on drinking a cup of tea.

PhloxOfSheep · 19/08/2021 10:06

Miss Hope all goes well today.

Squirrel26 · 19/08/2021 10:24

50-60 bottles! What will you do with them all? Do they keep for long?

Champagneforeveryone · 19/08/2021 10:40

I am expecting both dog food and toilet rolls to be delivered today

MissConductUS · 19/08/2021 10:58

Good day all! I woke up to thunderstorms and a tornado warning. The storm has moved out but we're going to be following it north all morning.

There's loads of stuff to put in the cars. I'm now hoping to be out of here by 7:00.

Sounds like you must have the Andrex puppy at your house Champagne

DH has gone to work in the office, very rare for him to go to the office now.

Silkiecat is happy as Silkieshelfcat and DS is stroking her around every half hour, I can hear the bruups.

Hope the journey will be OK MissC We have 3 years until dd leaves, ds tells me he will still be here at 39 Grin He has been obsessed with chickens and ducks since his primary headmaster told him that his brother was obsessed with Orville the Duck. I was then asked to tell him about Orville which led to ducks then moved to fluffy chickens and ducks.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 19/08/2021 11:38

DH left at five this morning. I went back to bed, woke up an hour later with one of those migraines (full programme for side effects but only low level pain) so I swapped today with tomorrow at work.
DD has one final assignment to hand in for last semster, so she is on zoom - checking up on me regularily Smile. She is back to semi f2f uni in october (WS).

Champagneforeveryone · 19/08/2021 13:19

The dog food came. DS bought it in and dumped it on the hob, knocking the controls on as he did so before ambling out for a driving lesson.

Quarter of the dog food is ruined (the tripe had actually started to cook Envy) but thankfully the house is still standing Hmm

SJaneS49 · 19/08/2021 13:36

Eek! How’s the smell?!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 19/08/2021 14:00

My DGP used to prepare the food for their dogs (breeding dogs for guard and help dog training) themselves. DM still talked about the smell after 50 years. (She also had very fixed ideas about recall and enough exercise which she imparted to her DC Grin)

Champagneforeveryone · 19/08/2021 14:32

Fortunately the smell of the tripe is overpowered by the smell of the polystyrene box that the bags came in Envy

I'm just glad I wasn't out at the time.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 19/08/2021 15:32

Champagne How is your weather - can you open enough windows to get rid of the smell?
Here it is very windy and I would empty all the desks, too.

Silkiescatz · 19/08/2021 15:49

Good job you don't have a thatched roof there Champagne I have no worries about my DS leaving things in the kitchen as it's far to much effort to walk to the kitchen for ds. We even moved a bin within arm distance but even that can be too much effort when you can just shove things under sofa cushions.

Been trying to do bank transactions and ended up having to phone bank who spoke to me as if I was 90 with dementia with an abusive husband as dh was with me. Questions like are you sure you know your address? Really you don't sound sure. Who is that man with you? Is he pressuring you?

Silkiescatz · 19/08/2021 15:56

Though dd also tells me I have dementia. She said Mummy you know when we talk to you, you are there then we lose you for a few minutes, then you come back I looked it up and it's dementia what you have. Confused

HelenaJustina · 19/08/2021 18:19

@Squirrel26 they pasteurise the contents and put them in sterilised glass bottles so they keep for about 9months.

Gingerwarthog · 19/08/2021 19:41

Went to supermarket with Mum.
Took wrong turning and had to go round the roundabout twice.
Forgot what I was going to supermarket for as we got distracted by candles and nice T- shirts.
Silkie, I feel your pain.

HelenaJustina · 19/08/2021 20:29

I just had a rubbish g&t, the tonic wasn’t chilled and the ice was all wrong. DC2 actually genuinely sympathised and suggested that I have another. I knew I was doing something right when it came to this parenting lark.

MissConductUS · 20/08/2021 01:07

I have returned. It was 12 hours door to door and about 10 in the car. It rained like a monsoon most of the way up and while we were unloading. My shoes and socks were still wet when we got home. Thank god that's over.

DS has a nice big room to himself but no private bath this year. I will report more tomorrow. I'm completely knackered.

Hope you can get some rest now MissC you have certainly earned it!

Got rabbit and chickens sorted with their pet hotel and money has gone out of bank accounts. Always a bit scary before you see it going into the other one though last time my bank took the reference off so it just got returned. DD went out with a friend all afternoon. I've ordered more things for the holiday.

Have a lovely time SJane

SJaneS49 · 20/08/2021 07:20

Thank you! So far our holiday has started out as the family usual. I ended up working till gone ten to make sure colleagues have as little to do as possible. I’m not packed. DH has thrown a couple of t-shirts, jeans and jumpers into a bag and is being smug about my disorganisation.

I’m having my second coffee while I contemplate the mountain of things I need to do from dropping off DDog at Puplins (kennels), taking bins out etc etc. DH will inevitably make hilarious jokes about the size of my suitcase...then spend the next week asking me if I’ve brought dishwasher tablets, paracetamol, plasters, pepper etc etc. I will have. Which will bring us back to a ‘disorganisation’ conversation!

DoctorTwo · 20/08/2021 08:07

my car is ill. I suspect it's a problem with the starter motor, but it's proving difficult getting a mechanic to have a look at it. Harrumph.

Silkiescatz · 20/08/2021 08:46

It'll all be worth it in a couple of days SJane but its always stressful just before you go. My DH never does anything until the time we are due to leave then he throws his three clothes items in a bag and then declares he's just having a sleep. He always insists the AA predicted time will be right and there will be no traffic jams and no need to stop for food / toilets - last year we arrived 5 hours late. It was on a Friday going down to Devon in summer holidays so there were about 4 hours of traffic jams which of course provided the perfect opportunity for lots of family squabbles. Rest of holiday was lovely but miss just being able to drive an hour and get on a plane. Good luck with everything. We have to round up chickens and rabbit tomorrow and cat Sunday am, cat is super easy now she's 17 and asleep 90% of the day and very obsessed with food, just put a tin of tuna in her box and she's in.

Sunbird24 · 20/08/2021 08:58

A black cat crossed my path on my wall to work. Didn’t even stop to let me pet it.
