I'm just in awe at how good he is! I imagine there is a fair bit of sitting around waiting at the Olympics and what a great way to stay occupied!

MissyB1 · 07/08/2021 19:29

Why do you love him for knitting? 🤔 what has that got to do with anything?

BreakfastOfWaffles · 07/08/2021 19:30

He is auctioning off the Olympic cardigan he has made for charity. Not sure which one, but I love that!

JayAlfredPrufrock · 07/08/2021 19:31

Fab way to stay occupied. Beats playing games on a phone. Something to show for it.

mnahmnah · 07/08/2021 19:31

DM is a lifelong knitter and her first comment was that he didn’t seem to be following a pattern. She was impressed

Medievalist · 07/08/2021 19:31

Because men aren't generally knitters so it's great that he's doing something he enjoys and doesn't give a monkeys what anyone thinks?

Mycatcontrolsmymovements · 07/08/2021 19:31

I love him too

reallyworriedjobhunter · 07/08/2021 19:32

It's very impressive knitting.

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 07/08/2021 19:33

Everybody should cross-train with knitting. It clearly works!

Exactly, thank you!!!

I love his humility, bravery and love for his family too

I love seeing people crafting, its a much better use of time than social media. Yes I get thd irony of posting this on social media!!

Have you seen his other knitting stuff? He auctions a fair bit for charity I believe

Budapestdreams · 07/08/2021 19:42

I love him too!

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 07/08/2021 19:43

He's a bit favourite in our house too.

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 07/08/2021 19:44

I mean big favourite not bit

knittingaddict · 07/08/2021 19:44

As a knitter I think it's great. Many crafts like this are excellent for mental health and some doctors recommend knitting for it's therapeutic benefits.

This is my usual user name by the way.

Oh don't be so miserable.
AbsolutelyPatsy · 07/08/2021 19:46

he is fantastic

AbsolutelyPatsy · 07/08/2021 19:47

he is not afraid of being true to himself
Go Tom

SameToo · 07/08/2021 19:48

I love him. I’m not a fan girl generally but I just think he’s so lovely!

randomsabreuse · 07/08/2021 19:48

Much better than biting nails/angst scrolling on a phone! Good way to keep hands busy while hanging around plus would imagine he spends a lot of time in solo hotel rooms on the circuit / at the Olympic Village so would need a productive way of killing time!

Maggiesgirl · 07/08/2021 19:49

As a life long knitter, he is awesome, and not because he is male ( my Granda knitted his own socks.) But because he is free knitting !

TheGenealogist · 07/08/2021 19:50

Agree that his skills are impressive and that he does not appear to be following a pattern. I suspect though with the cardigan that he's just knitted it all in cream, then embroidered on the detail using Swiss darning. Either way, agree it's great to see someone male and young knitting.

It is hugely therapeutic, he says it calms him. And he's smashing the stereotype that only old women knit.

SupermanWithTheGreyHair · 07/08/2021 19:51

I love his humility, bravery and love for his family too

Just a shame he used a surrogate to have a child. I don’t believe in rent a womb.

MissyB1 · 07/08/2021 19:55

It’s not miserable to ask why the knitting was such a big deal? Love him for his achievements etc yes but knitting??? He’s not exactly the first person to ever do it! I didn’t own a single jumper or cardigan as a child that wasn’t knitted by my mum.

StopGo · 07/08/2021 19:57

Lots of male relatives on my maternal side were talented knitters. They were all sailors or fishermen. It passed the time and produced a useful item. My uncle specialised in Fairisle patterns.
