It feels like having a miscarriage is in fashion, which is so messed up and upsetting for women that truly have fertility struggles Sad
I had to have IVF treatment to have my family and have had at least 2 miscarriages one before my first DC was conceived and one before my second child was conceived. Believe me miscarriage is NOT a fashion. To me each time it was the loss of a very much wanted child. I find that comment really offensive to be honest. I was trying for years before I managed to get pregnant and to then go on and lose that pregnancy was absolutely devastating!
viques · 31/07/2021 18:57

OMG, that means she has dtd with him at least three times. Which is probably three times more than most of us could deal with.

hyperbole001 · 31/07/2021 19:03

Gross

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 31/07/2021 19:08

What’s the matter with her? And all the other women who have been involved with and / or had children with him? He’s utterly repulsive, regardless of his politics. She appears to be an attractive, intelligent, accomplished woman who presumably could attract many other men if she desired.
Why doesn’t he use contraception? It’s very odd in this day and age. Gross. Just yuck.

Congratulations to them.

Fuck that! he is an irresponsible twat, no one needs 6 or 8 children.
christinarossetti19 · 31/07/2021 19:11

I agree that saying 'struggled with fertility' is very tactless, not to mention clearly untrue.

PicsInRed · 31/07/2021 19:14

Just the one pregnancy this year then?

What a reversion to the traditional. Hmm

Catconfusion · 31/07/2021 19:15

@EssentialHummus my thoughts exactly. I don’t know why sometimes there’s this comparison thing between women where one says their loss is worse than someone else. It’s always painful to lose a wanted pregnancy. I had a miscarriage is January too. My ds is the same age as their dc. I then went on to have two more losses. My doctor did a referral for fertility support because although falling pregnant easily they weren’t sticking so I don’t think she’s incorrectly described their issues as fertility ones. I’m now 5 weeks pregnant and really identify with what Carrie said about pregnancy after loss. It is really hard. Still painful even if it happens quickly. Just pleased she’s opening up about it and as someone who’s been through 5 losses now, I don’t have a problem at all with what she’s said.

jasjas1973 · 31/07/2021 19:21

What i find so interesting is how the media treat some party leaders compared to others....
Imagine Corbyn or Starmer struggling with an umbrella at such a sombre occasion?
Didn't the BBC use old footage when BJ messed up at the Cenotaph?

God alone know what would happen if Starmer was found to have cheated.... let alone have 8 kids and this is before we look at how women politicians are treated.

I wouldn't necessarily believe she had a miscarriage.

PicsInRed · 31/07/2021 19:26

Oooo, I now see she had a miscarriage.

For the avoidance of doubt, the comment above is about Boris, not Carrie.

Are you saying Carrie is pretending to have had a miscarriage so people will think she's cool??
ResIpsaLoquiturInterAlia · 31/07/2021 19:35

So the question may be how many more? And will he resign or actually needs be caught with CCTV evidence for something that even makes even his super low standards unpalatable. So not just playing political popularism making off the cuff racist remarks or stuff like “I rather see bodies piled high than call for more restrictions” etc. Perhaps his doggy deals for golden wallpaper and bespoke oligarch interior design taste may bite back not just saying masks don’t help or shaking hands to be infected before his customary u turns saying hands, face and space while supporting former mates who lie and test eyesight while driving for weekend birthday holiday breaks while telling all others to stay at home etc etc.

Perhaps we will not know until the house of cards money men who gain with him in charge fall as favours sour when he has no overall control of a government based on gaslighting and corruption by default. The man of many wives, more mistresses and now countless children trying to run a nation in the most challenging of most unprecedented times. Just what the doctor NOT ordered!

Blossomtoes · 31/07/2021 19:36

@EssentialHummus

And I think her comments about miscarriage are fine actually - it sounds like she had an early loss and then got pregnant again, but was/is nervous during this pregnancy as a result. Sounds fine to me. I'm a fan of talking about pregnancy loss more rather than less.
She’s hardly got fertility problems when she’s got pregnant three times in two years. It strikes me as a touch drama queen - especially the “rainbow baby” reference.
Shirleyphallus · 31/07/2021 19:37

It strikes me as a touch drama queen - especially the “rainbow baby” reference.

Rainbow baby is a perfectly acceptable term for a baby born after a miscarriage

I really don’t think it’s on to judge or police women’s language after suffering pregnancy loss

BlatantlyNameChanged · 31/07/2021 19:40

And people then wonder why a lot of women say they feel there is a stigma around discussing miscarriage.

I've no love for the Johnsons but there are people on this thread who need to read back their comments about miscarriage and then give their heads a wobble.

mylovelydd · 31/07/2021 19:41

Given that this man is a serial adulterer with no regard to the tenets of fidelity or marriage and is by all accounts a bankrupt, absent, dead beat father, and this woman had an affair with him while he was married to his ex wife, I find them both to be pitiful hypocrites and struggle to see what's great about this.

Sloth66 · 31/07/2021 19:42

He wrote an article on the dangers of overpopulation, yet now has 7 or 8 children himself.

lynsey91 · 31/07/2021 19:57

Obviously not concerned about overpopulation and climate change then.

Crunchymum · 31/07/2021 20:38

I do find the whole "fertility issues" a little hard to swallow.

What I am about to say is from the perspective of someone who suffered recurrent miscarriage (5 in total but 3 losses before we were even referred to recurrent miscarriage clinic) so I'm truly not being facetious.

Having one miscarriage is relatively common (no true stats exist due to women not knowing they are pregnant / chemical pregnancies etc) but it was when I was suffering my losses thought to be 1 in 4 pregnancies end in early miscarriage.

However having one miscarriage does not put you at any higher risk of having another. So one miscarriage - as awful and heartbreaking as it is - is not a fertility issue.

I would never wish a pregnant woman anything but the best. Hope it works out for her / them.

This will bring his total number of children up to.....oh wait, we don't know...

@imamule

he could resign as Prime Minister and go back to being a poor journalist. Win-win for all then.

Indeed

My thoughts exactly
ResIpsaLoquiturInterAlia · 31/07/2021 21:02

Less than double digits? The oldest one (late twenties) is already courting journalists in the way only Johnson clan know best and has recently published a story somewhere. I believe it was not complimentary to the father. I think none of the adult children attended their father’s latest recent quickie marriage when he suddenly became a preacher of a different religion. Not that this man is ever “untrustworthy or untruthful.” Indeed he is an Olympic champion in this sport of being economical with facts and details when the welfare of the nation is at stake and under his direction while he is preoccupied with more important personal matters.

I am assuming the known American one was just sex for public cash or was that yet another government advisory "position? " Lost count and if this current relationship started while previously married - then it's in keeping with their hands face arse mantra!

IsabelHerna · 31/07/2021 21:36

Congratulations to them, but I believe her comments were a bit tactless. She could have phrased it better, or if she truly wanted, she could have given light to fertility issues in another time, and in a better way.
Anyways, again, congrats, and sorry for my comment, just sharing my thoughts.

BakeOffRewatch · 31/07/2021 21:58

@DrBlackbird

I don’t know if he’s having another baby for public image reasons, I suspect so.

Now, I’m not suggesting he’s having a baby to deflect bad press suspect another baby was her choice, not his but it’s startling good timing to announce it the same day the FT front page highlights his cosy wealthy men’s club Hmm

Thanks for the reference @DrBlackbird.

Well worth a read, here’s a link www.ft.com/content/8c6041ff-a223-43e9-9e45-53c3f7cf47f7

If it doesn’t work google brings it up if you search “FT Inside Boris Johnson’s money network”. More about Ben Elliott.
