Did anything go wrong on your wedding day?

I'm getting married in the morning Gin and, like you do, I'm having a pre-wedding "what might go wrong" thoughts.

So just to make me EVEN MORE nervous, did anything go wrong at your wedding, or anyone else's wedding that you attended? I have never been to a wrdding with any fuck ups (that I know of!), so I'm hoping mine won't be the first one I experience Grin

My dm forgot to change her shoes... she was wearing her slippers for the ceremony before dispatching her partner back home to retrieve her shoes Grin

hit the neighbours car when reversing out of the drive to return the platter to the takeaway. I looked at the car and there wasn't a scratch on it, thank goodness.

My first marriage was a disaster.

The groom turned up!

DS lost my wedding ring as I walked down the aisle. I was totally oblivious and all our guests were manically trying to get their wedding rings off so to give to DH as a replacement. My friend found it as we said our vows. There's a video of it and it's v v funny

Clawdy · 27/07/2021 18:18

Wrong tune played on organ as I walked down the aisle! Future DH had rung the church organist to tell him the music I wanted, but some mix up meant I walked down the aisle to the dreaded " Here Comes The Bride" tune! I met him at the altar and hissed " Wrong tune!!" He whispered "I know!" with an agonised face!

GlamGiraffe · 27/07/2021 18:20

I made my own wedfing cake to our very old family recipe but yook it yo a wedding cake shop to be iced. It turbed up on the morning of the wedding likkung jothing like the cake i had requested. It was absolutley hideous. Nothing could he done. In the end, at the suggestion of the florist we covered it with hundreds of flowers so it was totally concealed. I was so upset at the time but after a temporary breakdown had to get on with it. It tasted good so that was ok!

ApolloandDaphne · 27/07/2021 18:20

My cousin stood on the underskirt of my dress and tore it so it was trailing. My ever resourceful DM had brought a sewing kit and stitched it for me in the loos of the reception place! I was utterly unfazed by it.

Apparentlystillchilled · 27/07/2021 18:20

I didn't like my flowers.

But I looked at them and thought "meh, I'm still getting married to the man I love!"

Don't worry and have a lovely day.

Nerfelite · 27/07/2021 18:21

No major disasters for my own.

I went to one wedding where the photographer was involved in a car accident between the church and reception venue. Thankfully he wasn't seriously injured and stayed to take photos at the reception with a bandage around his head.

SpacePug · 27/07/2021 18:23

I wish I had more photos taken by the photographer , such as I really really wish I had a photo with my grandparents. And one with my DH and son. DS wasn't well on the day (11 months old) but I wish we had managed one photo of the 3 of us. That's my main regret. Not much went actually wrong, one person's name was missed off the seating plan I had made but we just apologised and told them which table (it was my dad's auntie)

Exactly this happened to us too. I asked not to have it because I knew it would make me laugh. I was laughing so hard some family members thought I was crying because I didn't want to get married!

Also, the wedding cake arrived the night before with completely the wrong icing on (badly) and had to be redone on the day! It was beautiful, if not quite what we had wanted.

FartleBarfle · 27/07/2021 18:25

I haven't been to a wedding where something minor didn't go wrong. It forms part of the stories of the day, don't stress about it! I had my 15 month old son decide not to have nap for the first time ever and become over stimulated. My brother in law stood on and ripped my dress. We had more serious stuff like someone leaving because they found out we were having another baby and they were jealous. And some weird behaviour from in laws. But all the good overshadowed the bad! Enjoy it!

Mammyofasuperbaby · 27/07/2021 18:26

It rained, the taxi was late and the registrar thought she was hilarious- she wasn't. But other than that it was perfect

FartleBarfle · 27/07/2021 18:26

Oh yes didn't get the full photo list we had. But it was because we were all too busy enjoying ourselves! What can you do?!

samwitwicky · 27/07/2021 18:26

A few minor disasters! As is tradition 😁

But seriously though, a week before my wedding I gave up all control and responsibility and just decided to enjoy myself. Try and do the same xx

SnuffleBadger · 27/07/2021 18:26

I burnt my arm on the oven about 5 days before my wedding. Lovely burn mark just above my wrist for the day that the poor photographer had to edit out of all my photos Grin

At the reception the guests were served mushroom soup instead of roasted tomato (the guests has pre-selected their meals so were rather perplexed!)

We had bought disposable cameras for each of the tables. Purposefully purchased the silver ones as they fitted with our colours. When we arrived at the reception the staff that had set up the tables had 'helpfully' removed the silver cardboard covers from each camera exposing the black plastic and glue underneath Hmm

At the evening reception a very drunk relative stepped on the back of my dress when bustled and ripped out the hook and eye holding it up. Had to spend the entire evening with the back of my dress hooked over my wrist.

Never even saw the evening buffet and didn't get to try any of my cake. Was starving by the time we went to bed and the only sustenance available was the biscuits on the drinks tray in the room!

Had a fabulous day though Smile

InTheNightWeWillWish · 27/07/2021 18:27

Lots of things but it didn’t matter. Most people weren’t aware of what went wrong as we just rolled with it. We still had a great day and we laugh about it now.

EKGEMS · 27/07/2021 18:27

My baker changed my piped flowers we ordered for plastic artificial flowers. My three month old niece cried while her paternal GM held her and did nothing. It was a child free wedding and a free nursery was available.

LawnFever · 27/07/2021 18:27

Our photographer was shit, and ignored the list of pictures we’d asked for, we only had 38 guests so it wasn’t complicated Confused

I didn’t like my flowers much, and the reception venue forgot to bring us a bottle of cold fizz while we were having some pictures done.

Nothing major but little things

Raaaaaaarr · 27/07/2021 18:27

Really bad DJ that I hadn't really thought about much and was a part of the venue package. The venue had been amazing with everything else and technically the DJ did nothing wrong but the music choice wasn't my cup of tea and he was refusing to play my requests...and he was a little bit rude to me the end of the evening I think because he wasn't feeling the love (so ok he was a bit out of order!)

FrenchFancie · 27/07/2021 18:27

Wedding cake was the wrong cake - fuck knows who got our fabulous chocolate cake but we had a manky fruit cake that I specifically didn’t want! I took one look at it and knew it wasn’t the one I’d ordered but though what the hell, nothing I can do now!!

😂😂 At least she would have been comfy! If it was a church wedding that might have been quite handy, it can get a bit nippy!!

Thankfully after a beautiful ceremony but two of my guests, a married couple, got into a physical fight at the reception, the hotel called the police and both were arrested with the woman released to go to hospital. Totally ended the night so we didn't even cut the wedding cake.

LubaLuca · 27/07/2021 18:29

There was a power cut in the hotel just as I was about to get my hair dried. I had to leave it 'au naturel' which was frizzy not a disaster.

scrambledcustard · 27/07/2021 18:29

My in-laws had a argument with my (now ex) that I wasn't aware of a couple of days before the wedding. At the time I think they thought I knew - I didn't.

His family didn't speak to me at all, just barely spoke to him.

His mum sat their crying at the wedding meal with sun glasses on and didn't touch her food, just laid a napkin over the plate.

His father said some thing really rude about me when dh was giving his speech.

mil stole out little dds bridesmaid head piece and wore it.

His auntie got really pissed and shouted - 'THE FOODS SHIT, COMPANIES SHIT BUT WERE ALL FUCKING FAMILY!'

Mil caused a huge argument between BIL and Dh and we all came home not speaking to each other( destination wedding)

I was depressed for about six months after and havnt spoken to them since - five years ago now
