@Sparklingbrook

OMG Iceland. WTF is this?
Kiosks that have those slush puppy 'churners' have to have a blue one, but I've always assumed for aesthetic contrast of colours rather than that anyone would actually ingest them. (I grew up at the seaside)

As to most of the highly coloured lollies (rockets, fabs, twizzlers etc) - they're not meant for grownups. They're to ensure kids have a refreshing dose of liquid, sugars and e-numbers to keep them buzzing like flies in hot weather.

They missed out Mini Milks, the fools.

By this, I mean the one true Mini Milk - Strawberry flavour.
ErrolTheDragon · 27/07/2021 13:31

Maybe you didn't recognise it as it's not depicted to scale. It looks more like a maxi milk.

ErrolTheDragon · 27/07/2021 13:32

Xpost. Bleurgh.
Strawberry ice and sorbet made with actual strawberries is nice. Pink sweet gunk masquerading as 'strawberry' isn't.

Toesies · 27/07/2021 13:34
@Toesies I’d probably call them an ice block, to distinguish them from ice cream in a bowl. Agree about ice lollies though. Lollies are sweeties and ‘sweeties’ is just creepy sounding.

I regret never having a golden gaytime before I got coeliac. So iconic. I was too obsessed with rainbow billabongs.
We call them them 'icy poles'. Even a Calippo is an icy pole.

Toesies · 27/07/2021 13:42

Yes but Australia call sweets "lollies". Noting to do with ice.

@HarebrightCedarmoon That's why I find it so strange!

Sparklingbrook · 27/07/2021 13:43

Ooh I've never had an 'icy pole'. Well I have but I hadn't realised I had. Grin

We have lollies which aren't iced, things like chuppa chups. It's the presence of the stick which is the necessary qualification for being a lolly.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 27/07/2021 14:29

This is how you can tell who grew up near the Mersey. We say a lolly ice, rather than an ice lolly, because of the presence of the stick. This follows impeccable logic from "lollipop". QED

Just no
Just YES!!

Whitney168 · 27/07/2021 15:25

Another vote for Fruit Pastille lollies on God tier - refreshing and fun to eat a layer at a time, what's not to like?

Beamur · 27/07/2021 15:26

There's a Squashies lolly?
Be still my beating heart

LubaLuca · 27/07/2021 15:34

Obviously Mini Milk is a mum's favourite because they're cheap and there's less ice cream to go to waste when the kids get fed up of them after 6 licks, BUT - nobody actually thinks they're a good ice cream, nobody even likes them. Our choice was either a Mini Milk or a plain lemon ice lolly (Sparkle?), and without question it was always a rectangular choc ice for the grown ups. I thought I didn't like ice cream until I was an adult Grin

I like a Solero out of all the regular ice creams.

TheChampIsHere · 27/07/2021 15:37

Shocked and saddened at all the Jubbly hate. What is wrong with you all????? 🤬

It looked like a turd, no stick included.

Strawberry are still the only Mini Milks that matter. 91 kcal, doesn't stain everything in sight, fit nicely and discreetly at the back of the freezer where DP can't see them

They've destroyed the Curly Wurlys with palm oil, they've taken Weenie Wotsits away from me. They shall never get my strawberry Mini Milks.

AllTheSingleLadiess · 27/07/2021 16:19

Never had a Jubbly- think that it should be replaces by Nobbly Bobbly. Solero and Twister are my favourites which shouts one joined by a 99 imo.

ShadowInVain · 27/07/2021 17:05

I remember when Mini Milks cost 6p at the local corner shop - I only got 10p pocket money so they were a Saturday favourite when I was six years old. An 'Orange Sparkle' lolly was 8p. Happy days!

I grew up near the Mersey and I say ice lolly. The best of which are the cider ones.
tcjotm · 28/07/2021 00:30

@Toesies mmmm lemonade icy poles.

Did you not say ice block at all? Maybe it’s a state variation. I’m from NSW.
