That bottom layer? Nooo. Rocket lolly better than a Fab?

I've found my fellow Nobbly Bobbly people here! If you've ever had a Nobby Bobbly, you know Wink

ErrolTheDragon · 27/07/2021 11:54

Sorry to derail slightly, but I find it weird that people in the UK call such things 'ice lollies'. In Australia we call them ice creams which seems more sensible, given that they usually contain cream that is, indeed, icy.

I'd only call 'water ices' (ie non-creamy ones) 'ice lollies'. But there are some which do contain dairy for which 'ice cream' would be just as wrong - ice cream has to be a softer texture. The cornetto and magnums are ice creams.

cookiemonster5 · 27/07/2021 11:58

Corneto goes in the top tier, mini milk gets it's own tier below the bottom and rocket takes place of the corneto in the 3rd tier.

I remember when twisters were called tangle twisters, they seemed pretty exotic back then.

I'm sure there was a neopolitan ice-cream original version, called a tongue twister.

I also liked walls fat frog and Dracula (though NOT the abomination that was relaunched a few years ago)

FreeBritnee · 27/07/2021 12:00

Nope. In our house Fab is the go-to always.

gamerchick · 27/07/2021 12:02

It's weird. Maybe it's from just before they put those warnings out not to shove them up the holy tunnel to cool down.

Weird times, cornettos at the bottom indeed Hmm

FreeBritnee · 27/07/2021 12:03

Cornettos and magnums are sickly. Wouldn’t touch one 🤮

H1978 · 27/07/2021 12:03

Magnum needs a tier of its own, it’s amazing.

Ifitquacks · 27/07/2021 12:04

Fruit pastille lollies are top tier. Rocket lollies are shit.

ssd · 27/07/2021 12:05

Mum's gone to Iceland Grin

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 27/07/2021 12:06

Its got Ice Cream in it - Ice Cream

Just Juice - Ice Lolly - Lolly Ice

Cornettos have been maligned and Jubblies taste of wet cardboard

Creamcrackersandricecakes · 27/07/2021 12:07

Fabs are bloody delicious and only 90 calories - what's not to like?? I always bite all the chocolate off first and crunch all the sugar strands, yum. Jubblies don't belong anywhere but the bin.

irresistibleoverwhelm · 27/07/2021 12:07

I love a vanilla mini milk Blush

When I was a kid we were only allowed either a mini milk or a lemonade sparkle from the ice cream van (the cheapest ones). Had to be a REALLY special occasion to be allowed a Feast or - aspirational - a Cornetto, which were normally strictly for grownups only!

myspicynutsarefried · 27/07/2021 12:09

Where are the fabs?

ShadowInVain · 27/07/2021 12:09

Ooh, no. I hate combined ice cream and lolly. I like a lolly. I like an ice cream. I don't like both on one stick. Ice cream should not be coated or combined with anything except chocolate.

Sparklingbrook · 27/07/2021 12:11

@jay55

I tried some of those alcoholic ones, and I went to push it up, and the bottom split open and I got ice lolly lap. They were pants.
Oh no. I'll need a bowl maybe or just tip it into a glass, which kind of ruins it I guess. Sad

Yes! Since I was tiny I have strongly felt this! They should never mix!!

I occasionally make an exception for a Solero, but the fruit ice with ice cream inside and ice lolly outside is a work of the Devil Wink

Sparklingbrook · 27/07/2021 12:13

My bin tier

Mini Milks
Rocket lollies
Jubbly

As a child I always had a 'Funny Feet' from the ice cream van.

My DD got a Whippy the other day with an ice lolly stuck in the top. I was like ConfusedConfused. Just all kinds of wrong.
MrsMoastyToasty · 27/07/2021 12:15

Cornettos are not allowed on the table . They are ice creams.
It's a bit like the England football team fielding an non English player.

I agree completely.

I'm also still waiting in hope for the return of the double chocolate caramel magnum.
They can get to fuck with their raspberry and the white chocolate. Bluuurh.

You get those in Iceland
sweetheartyparty · 27/07/2021 12:18

I used to work for a company that made the rockets, fruit pastille lollies, nob bobs and fabs. We had free ice cream every day and I loved it!
I agree that nob bobs should replace rockets. Never liked those

Sparklingbrook · 27/07/2021 12:20

@ssd I can't go in Iceland. I can't be trusted and come out with all sorts! They also do Fruit Salad sweet ice lollies, and Sherbert fountain ones with a LIQUORICE STICK. Shock
Although I quite fancy a try of a Funny Feet...

Do dogs get a vote? Mine would put cornetto stop because it's not a lolly - sticks are annoying because of not being allowed to chew them.

Whereas a cornetto... ah, food of the gods dog indeed. We were once in a park when a small child dropped one with only the topping and a bit of the ice cream gone - the cone was all there. Fortunately the child wasn't unduly distressed (it was far too big for him tbh).
So, fair game for a dog... now, visualise a cornetto, and also the snout of a standard dachshund. It turns out that if the dachshund has the sense to take it wide end first, the cone is a perfect fit. He gradually melted and munged it down with absolutely none escaping.
