We're getting Chinese food tonight and I've realised we always get the same thing. So, what else can I get?

Chinese order:
Chicken and Sweetcorn soup (me)
Smoked shredded chicken (DP)
Crispy duck with pancakes
Chicken in black bean sauce
Beef with mushrooms
Sweet and sour chicken balls
Special fried rice
Chicken chow mean or Singapore rice noodles
Sometimes either crispy chilli beef or chicken in yellow bean sauce and sometimes chicken satay skewers or dumplings if we want leftovers for lunch.

What's your order?

Prawn toast (with hoi sin for dipping)
Crispy beef
Mushroom chow mein
Chicken fried rice
Chinese BBQ sauce

Sometimes chilli salt prawns if extra greedy

babybunny123 · 25/07/2021 21:26

Heartburn !!!

LysistrataVickers · 25/07/2021 21:27

DH and I have:

Special fried rice with a portion of curry sauce
Salt and pepper chicken wings
Beef in black bean sauce
Char Sui in satay sauce

(Or chicken with spring onion and ginger is another fave. So is crispy shredded chilli chicken or beef!)

We like Chinese and had one on Friday!

@coogee

We're getting Chinese food tonight and I've realised we always get the same thing.

It’s invitable if you order everything on the menu.

I assumed it was for a large family, as there's 6-7 dishes plus a couple of starters and there could also be rice and/or chips with the mains, but I know that's not the case everywhere.

Or perhaps they view the special fried rice and Singapore noodles as sides, which I don't because they have quite a bit of meat in them and are priced the same as the other mains.

CustardGoodJamGoodMeatGood · 25/07/2021 21:28

I get sweet and sour chicken balls with boiled rice, dP gets chicken fried rice, side of curry sauce. Then we get salt and pepper chips to share and prawn crackers, if we're splashing out we'll get crispy duck and pancakes as well

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 25/07/2021 21:30

Is that just for you and your DP? You don’t mention any kids.

Sidesaladofchips · 25/07/2021 21:31

Omg I need some Chinese takeaway nowBlush

idontlikealdi · 25/07/2021 21:31

Special chow mein
Special fried rice
Chicken balls
Beef, ginger and spring onion
Kung po chicken
Hi Ken and black bean
Prawn crackers

Sometimes crispy duck

We get dinner, and at least a lunch each out of it. I love cold fried rice.

TheChosenTwo · 25/07/2021 21:32

We tend to have a load of starters (prawn toast, salt and pepper chilli squid, spring rolls etc) and duck pancakes to share.
Then for mains, I have no idea what anyone else ever orders because they all mix it up but I always have crispy chilli beef with plain chow mein. There’s always enough for lunch the next day too.
But my favourite has now switched to a Thai takeaway 😋

jaundicedoutlook · 25/07/2021 21:33

Only thing I always get is salt and chilli squid. I could happily eat two portions to myself.

I would also always get chicken and sweet corn soup, but I find the consistency too variable and don’t like it if it is so thick you could stand a spoon in it…

BryonyG · 25/07/2021 21:33

There are some bloody judgy replies here!!

Polkadots2021 · 25/07/2021 21:35

Just special fried rice, can't ear any more. Omg, heavenly!!

Buggerthebotox · 25/07/2021 21:35

Crispy duck.
Soft noodles.
Lemon chicken.
Egg fried rice.

greensnail · 25/07/2021 21:36

Sesame prawn toast, satay chicken, spare ribs, chilli squid, crispy chilli beef, chicken with cashew nuts, sweet and sour chicken balls, Kung po chicken, special fried rice, chicken chow mein.
I'm hungry now.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 25/07/2021 21:38

Either sweet and sour pork balls or crispy shredded beef and egg fried rice.
DH will always have satay chicken skewers and either sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style or chicken with cashew nuts. I also will get sesame prawn toast and spare ribs.
However - there's a Chinese takeaway near us that does the most delicious dim sum! I have ordered the starter sharing platter and just... not shared it.

DragonflyFairy · 25/07/2021 21:38

Crispy seaweed
Mini spring rolls, maybe sesame toast too
Chicken in black bean sauce
Crispy shredded beef or crispy duck
2 egg fried rice
Prawn crackers :)

Used to love crispy prawns with a pot of satay sauce on the side but where we live now, cant get it!

Mockolate · 25/07/2021 21:39

We always go for the same things too, keep saying every time I'm going to get something different next time then never do lol

We usually get

Vegetable spring rolls
Sweet and sour chicken balls
Chow mein (either chicken or vegetable)
prawn crackers
salt and pepper chips

SpringLoadedJizz · 25/07/2021 21:40

Me: Yung chow fried rice or beef curry and chips. I'll occasionally change it up with beef and cashew nuts or beef and mushrooms with boiled rice. Occasionally a king prawn or fuck dish (usually also cashews or mushrooms, sometimes both tbh) or chicken balls with curry sauce.

DH: Always chicken chow mein

DC1: sometimes a chow mein, sometimes sweet and sour chicken, sometimes barbecue spare ribs and some chips

DC2: Always chicken balls with no sauce and some chips or rice

On the side we always get prawn crackers and prawn toasts. Sometimes some spring rolls.

SpringLoadedJizz · 25/07/2021 21:40

Duck dish. Not fuck dish. BlushBlushBlushBlushBlush

KilljoysDutch · 25/07/2021 21:40

How about if we could all stop pretending to be sanctimonious skinny assholes and commenting on other peoples eating habits?

pommepommefrites · 25/07/2021 21:48

vegetables in black bean sauce, pancake rolls, fried rice, chow mein. On here to look for inspo for new dishes 🤤

FunnyWonder · 25/07/2021 21:50

King prawn with ginger
or
King prawn Szechuan

ToffeeForEveryone · 25/07/2021 21:57

@Nuggetnugget you are missing out Shock

CoodleMoodle · 25/07/2021 22:00

DH doesn't like Chinese food much, so I usually only get it with DM. We usually have:

Mixed hors d'oeuvres
Crispy chicken or beef (sometimes both)
Duck with mixed veg OR mushrooms (me)
Chicken curry (DM)
Plain boiled rice (both, bit boring but delicious)

Sometimes I have a duck or chicken chow mein instead of the duck in sauce.

LoveFall · 25/07/2021 22:03

Hot and sour soup
Moo shu pork
Ginger beef
Either fried rice or a noodles dish

But hardly ever. We end up spending too much.
