For example I only ever buy pate at Christmas. I love it. Its readily available all year yet until today have never purchased any time other than Christmas

I get that some things you generally only get around Xmas but I mean things that are in shops all year but wouldn't normally buy.

Currently working my way through a tonne of pate and ritz.

Always pate too but won't be able to have it this Christmas due to pregnancy! Will also miss my glass of Sherry and bucksfizz too on Christmas morning lol!

Amdone123 · 25/07/2021 14:12

I have never eaten bread sauce. It sounds awful.

Mine is chocolate. I eat the odd bar throughout the year. Yesterday I told my sister I bought chocolate; she was so excited...what did you buy? A star bar. She can never understand how I can just have 1 bar. Yet, at Christmas I will eat a whole box of Thorntons chocolate. I think it's because my dad used to buy us all a box every year with our Christmas presents. So, sentimental reasons.

Definitely snowballs and matchmakers, too.

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 25/07/2021 14:34

Bread sauce is the best thing about Christmas dinner.

New Berry Fruits, when they still had liquid centres (not the Jewels they sell as New Berry Fruits now)

AnneShirleysNewDress · 25/07/2021 14:39

Baileys and Bendicks bittermints.

ChicChaos · 25/07/2021 15:03

Forgot about Pigs in Blankets and Bread Sauce, love both and only have them at Christmas!

starfishmummy · 25/07/2021 15:04

It always used to be Thorntons Continental chocolates, but I'm talking about when they used to be good chocolates, not the buy in every cheap supermarket ones they do now

DustyMaiden · 25/07/2021 15:49

I had pate for breakfast, don’t usually buy it but thought better than marmalade.
Most things I only buy at Christmas is because there is enough people to eat them.

Guineapigbridge · 25/07/2021 17:20

Pavlova
Appletiser
Pannetone

Why not? Too much sugar.

Nc123 · 25/07/2021 17:30

Cream
Elderflower presse
Fancy cheeses to have with biscuits - especially if garlicky as I could eat the lot at a sitting!
The big ceremonial chocolate biscuit tin
Tins of chocolates
After dinner mints

Until recently, butter, salmon and naice smoked meats would have been on that list too but I’ve started buying those all year round.

MumofSpud · 25/07/2021 17:33

Pickled onions (and then throw the usually unopened jar at by Valentine's Day - it is a tradition now!)
Roast Turkey
Brussels
Tins of chicks
Terry's chocolate orange

girlonamission · 25/07/2021 17:33

Homemade cranberry sauce.

ahoyshipmates · 25/07/2021 17:37

Chestnut stuffing. I only like it with roast turkey and since we only have that once a year, the same goes for the stuffing.
Cranberry sauce ditto.

Pigs in blankets and frozen mini sausage rolls. No idea why, because I love the things!

Cocktail gherkins. Never occurs to me to buy them at any other time of year.

Christmas pudding. Fairly obvious...

sherry-palomino fino- and perar brandy -only drink throughout December and 12 days of Christmas because I drink too much anyway throughout the year, so to add these extra little treats would put me over my daily limit

cremaeux de bourgogne - too, too easy to drink the bottle and not feel it, so another bottle gets popped- and so on until I DO feel it! far too late and too many units consumed!

partner has Advocaat only at Christmas as a childhood treat throwback- to me its grim!

bendicks bittermints- i can eat far too many in one sitting, partner gets boxed and boxes of after eights which he happily chomps his way through- too sweet and not minty enough for me.

quorn sausage rolls- only have at Christmas so I have something similar to munch when other people are having porky pastry things- (have to say, all my other veggie buffet items get munched happily by the meat eaters whilst their treats get left until the veggie stuff is gone! should really just do a veggie buffet!

gingganggooleywotsit · 25/07/2021 19:41

Boursin cheese. Only allow myself it at Christmas or I would be the size of a house. It’s my top binge food!

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 25/07/2021 19:48

Bloody carol singers squawking at the door and then knocking hoping (begging) for money.
Well not from us, we heard you next door and have turned off all the lights and are lying on the floor.
Try next door.

Cherrysoup · 25/07/2021 19:55

Mince pies, those or mince in jars is not available throughout the year.

pollywollydoodler · 25/07/2021 19:59

Jules destrooper Florentines, Chocolate gingers , Baileys and hubby's cashew nut loaf just because it's nice for them to be treats.

Homemade chutneys and pickled onions , just habit because that's when the ones I make are ready

WeatheringStorms22 · 25/07/2021 20:06

Baileys. I love it, either over ice or in coffee. But I only ever buy it in December.

Last year I had a decent slop of Baileys in my 11am coffee during a team zoom call a few times, which is the most 'out there' thing I've done for a while 😂

FogHornInTheAttic · 25/07/2021 20:08

Beetroot,Baileys and mince pies

Justme10 · 25/07/2021 20:19

Pate and turkey here as well!

I often find myself eyeing up the pate when I'm shopping and never buy it because I don't want to ruin the Christmas tradition Confused

AtleastitsnotMonday · 25/07/2021 20:38

Twiglets!

Pickled red cabbage and piccalilli! Buy pickled onions and gherkins year round though!
