Where's somewhere you've visited but wouldn't want to go back to?

Positive and negative!

I went to Las Vegas, glad I went, but no desire to return! :)

Would never return to Warwick Castle. It's quite over rated...and not much even happened there, it just looks the part! :)

@HR313

Glasgow - would never visit again, we stopped on the way through on our way to Loch Lomond (which was lovely). Even the trolleys in Lidl had to be chained to the checkout to stop you from running off with it! Florence in Italy, absolutely filthy and smelt hideous in the hot weather.
I really like Glasgow I much prefer it to Edinburgh. it's such a friendly city everyone talks to you. It has great restaurants, fab museums, loads of culture, although I do I agree there are some pretty run down areas and its quite polluted.
Terrazzo · 22/07/2021 13:31

Definitely Bath! Such a weird vibe. And Glastonbury. I would die to go back to San Francisco but DH would never, shithole according to him!

SmidgenofaPigeon · 22/07/2021 13:31

I’m not fussed with Dublin.

Bloody LOVED Belfast and had an absolutely fantastic time touring round the northern Irish coast, it’s incredible, and Belfast is an extremely underrated city.

Clarice99 · 22/07/2021 13:31

Marmaris and Icmeler in Turkey. Misogyny is rife. Men on the doors of restaurants and bars literally tried to drag me in off the street. People (men) think it's okay to touch women, for example stroking hair. It stinks in places of sewage and there are bins overflowing with rubbish a the back of bars and restaurants. The beaches are covered in litter and cigarette ends.

Rhyl

Paris - dog shit all over pavements

Swindon - so many roundabouts!

Blackpool

bananafish · 22/07/2021 13:31

Antigua - very beautiful and enjoyable, but it's also mainly yachts and beaches and I was bored senseless by day 7 of the two week holiday.

dea56 · 22/07/2021 13:31

Liverpool, never seen so many drunk middle aged people in all my life was at a Triathlon that my daughter done at the Docks which were lovely , we stayed at the premier inn at the docks again this was great , Any way in evening walked to a Pizza place and oh my god they were literally stumbling and falling over in the streets.
the other place was Sheffield as soon as the sun went down it was like a scene from the Michael Jackson video Thriller the only time I did not have a drink as needed to get the kids back to the hotel to safety, people walking up to you in the street asking for stuff and people pissing in the street in full view.people walking like zombies cracked I would have thought.

Katela18 · 22/07/2021 13:31

Hurghada in Egypt - can't leave the hotel without being constantly hassled and area is awful....also both got food poisoning

ButYouGottaHaveASkillJeff · 22/07/2021 13:32

Australia. Fine when I travelled around it. Absolutely no rush to go back. Especially Adelaide.

Philadelphia. Meh. Loved Washington DC though, and NYC, but not in summer.

Tenerife.

Love Barcelona, Rome and would love to go to Japan so gutted it's appeared here!

Winemewhynot · 22/07/2021 13:32

Oh also, Bulgaria, was sold it years ago as a girls holiday by the travel agent saying sunny beach was the next Ibiza. It was not.

MrsMiddleMother · 22/07/2021 13:33

Paris. Was actually really grim and I have no desire to go again.

igelkott2021 · 22/07/2021 13:33

and (sorry, but) Scotland. I've travelled widely all over the world and loved most places and their people, but I've never known rudeness like it

Hmm I've been to Scotland many times and can't think of any obvious rudeness. A few months ago there was a thread about places that are up themselves and Guildford came high up. I'd agree with that, but not Scotland.

Although I read a book the other day by Elise Downing, who ran around the coastline of the UK (as you do) and the only places she was refused permission to refill her water bottle was in Scotland (she didn't say where).

igelkott2021 · 22/07/2021 13:33

place not places. It was only one place.

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 22/07/2021 13:33

Third vote for Australia here

South Africa

I had no inclination to go to Turkey and went to Marmaris which was like Blackpool in the sun. Travelled a couple of hours out to visit a friend of a friend and it was like night and day. Absolutely beautiful with lovely friendly locals.

Gardentiger · 22/07/2021 13:33

Marseille Airport.

Unbearably hot, no toilet seats and a wierd system of calling multiple flights and having just one passport desk checking everyone meaning ever flight takes off late because it has to wait for all the passengers stuck in the endless snaking sweating queue.

Crunchymum · 22/07/2021 13:34

Gosh some of my favourite places were mentioned on first few posts Grin

I loved Vegas (didn't expect to but did. Granted we did Helicoper flight / Hoover Dam / Grand Canyon as well but I genuinely enjoyed Vegas itself)

I also loved Cuba

And I am a Londoner (born here and have never really left)

Ineverpromisedyouarosegarden · 22/07/2021 13:35

Hated Vancouver BC loved Bath. Grin

Too very different cities.

I live in Scotland we're English its one of the friendliest place Ive ever lived. It takes me double the time to walk my dog as everyone wants to say hello and stop and chat people come out of their houses as you walk past as say hello. I'm originally from a very remote area of the West Country takes me back to my childhood when going to the village shop 1/2 a mile up the road took all morning because you had to stop and talk to everyone you met.
Fluffy40 · 22/07/2021 13:37

Tunisia, the whole place had a slightly menacing air.

FluffMagnet · 22/07/2021 13:37

Also Turkey. Went to a couple of ports and Istanbul as part of a cruise with my school - how this company got away with taking so many 15-16 Yr old there without serious incident I don't know. It was terrifying. We ended up swallowing our pride and asking the boys to literally flank us and make an stand of "ownership" after being chased by a pack of men (it was like an organised hunt).

igelkott2021 · 22/07/2021 13:37

I don't get the love for Cornwall and why half the country is ready to pay ££££ for accommodation to spend hours in their cars driving down and then hours more looking for parking/going at snails' pace through tourist throngs, going to rammed beaches etc. We're an island. There's plenty of coast

Yes I always roll my eyes when people say they are going to Cornwall. Unless you fly to Newquay, you have to drive through Devon, so why not stop there? Although that will be super-busy now too.
