Where's somewhere you've visited but wouldn't want to go back to?

Positive and negative!

I went to Las Vegas, glad I went, but no desire to return! :)

Would never return to Warwick Castle. It's quite over rated...and not much even happened there, it just looks the part! :)

Oh god
I forgot the Isle of man and Isle if Wight
Ugh

Cam77 · 22/07/2021 16:18

Dublin is a great place to live (well, much of it is), but you’ve got to do your homework as a tourist. It isn’t a “pretty” city for the most part, so unless you know what you’re looking for you’ll leave unimpressed.

Friendofdennis · 22/07/2021 16:18

Soft play centres. I got banned from one for asking whether they had anything healthy for the kids to eat such as a yoghurt. They said I was the first person to ask for one. I am so glad I will never have to go to one again even if I have grandchildren

QueenPeary · 22/07/2021 16:21

Staffa - I really wanted to go, it was stunning but fuck me I was terrified. The potential for falling off a cliff/rocks into churning sea seemed to be about 90% and we had kids with us!

Agree with Nando’s! Went to see what the fuss was about. Couldn’t see it!

FoxtrotSkarloey · 22/07/2021 16:22

The Amazon Jungle. I'm glad I went but bloody hell, the sweat, the bugs, the caiman, the fecking tarantulas. That box is well and truly ticked.

Turkey. Fine, I only went to one resort but the amount of hassle my friend and I were subjected to was terrible. It offered nothing by way of a beach holiday over Spain which is far nicer so I won't be going back.

Honolulu. Imported sand. The worst of American excess adjacent to some awful poverty. Sky rises next to the sea. I'm sure Hawaii is lovely if you go with money in a cotton wool wrapped bubble but I went as a backpacker and it was tough going.

Sharm el Sheikh and Cairo absolutely hated both, hassled and relentlessly pursued by perving men and the places stank especially Cairo.

Best place was Krakow for food, sights and the people.

SecretKeeper1 · 22/07/2021 16:23

Phuket in Thailand. Went all over the country and there are MUCH nicer beaches and islands than Phuket.

Cam77 · 22/07/2021 16:23

Miami. The city itself is a concrete jungle. Miami Beach district meanwhile isn’t bad, much more pleasant than the main bit of Miami as an area, but I still found it didn’t live up to the hype at all.

MagicSummer · 22/07/2021 16:23

@Gerwurtztraminer - I am surprised you disliked Vienna. I absolutely loved it - so clean, so well laid out but compact, stunning architecture, lovely people, great food, so much to see. Did you go to a performance at the Spanish Riding School? That's wonderful.

Brendabigbaps · 22/07/2021 16:23

Marrakech.

babybunny123 · 22/07/2021 16:23

oh and Kalkan in Turkey Wonderful

RogueMnerHidesUnderABigHat · 22/07/2021 16:24

@NewYearNewTwatName

BarbaraofSeville yeah I scratched my head at that too.
So glad it wasn’t just me 😂
AlternativePerspective · 22/07/2021 16:25

Dubai. Cultureless built on slave labour for the rich elite.

Singapore was a bit of a non place. Went there on way to Australia and stayed for 2 days. It didn’t do anything for me. Mind you there’s is the most efficient airport I’ve ever been to in my life.

San Francisco was a horrible menacing place where I didn’t feel safe for a second.

Cam77 · 22/07/2021 16:26

Really liked Charleston though, beautiful place. Not a fan of big US cities at all. Far inferior to big European cities IMO.

cruisecrazy · 22/07/2021 16:27

Dubai dirty, dusty hated it. Maldives OK for your honeymoon but otherwise just the beach.

Love Norway

Thesaltandthesea · 22/07/2021 16:27

Iceland. It was so magical and without a doubt one of our best holidays. But I feel it wouldn't have the same wow-ness if we were to go back.

Subwaylunch · 22/07/2021 16:27

Soubriquet

My 2 favourite places are Las Vegas and New Orleans. Took our 2 children and we absolutely loved both places, especially the atmosphere. Definitely recommend!

DrCoconut · 22/07/2021 16:27

@SmidgenofaPigeon interesting comment as I felt really on edge in Oxford too. There's something I don't like about the place but I can't explain it. I don't generally experience this either.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 22/07/2021 16:27

Leicester, the only place I have ever seen caged bars over every shop window. The place feels very tense.

I went to New Zealand with my ex for 6 weeks, we had an incredible time, we both agreed one of the best times of our life. My ex died a few years later so I decided I would keep all the memories of NZ in my head with him there, if that makes sense. So I won’t go back, but I would absolutely encourage others to as it’s magical.

Charlotte2020 · 22/07/2021 16:28

Morocco- horrible.
Cuba- glad I went, interesting place but wouldn't go back

Hadenoughofbloodycovid · 22/07/2021 16:29

Egypt- horrible place, didn’t feel at all safe and I’ve travelled to many places in the world.

QueenPeary · 22/07/2021 16:30

I liked Vienna, everything seems clean, well-designed and beautiful. While there I saw a bin man empty a street bin. He took the old bag of rubbish out, then got a new bag, opened it and blew it up like balloon, and then it was the perfect shape to slide into the container. All in about 5 seconds. It was everything the UK isn’t!

PiccalilliChilli · 22/07/2021 16:34

Yes yes to Bath (full of rugger buggers with no chins) Malta (bugger all to do but drink) and Birmingham. Barcelona is lousy except for the Gaudí architecture. Rhodes (entire island). Clacton.

Fanacapan · 22/07/2021 16:35

Tunisia and Cape Verde islands, both places felt unsafe outside the hotel grounds, and if you stay in the hotel you could be anywhere in the world!

bananafish · 22/07/2021 16:36

@Originalyellowbelly

Nairobi, scary place.
Yes, I agree. Had to spend 5 days there for work. Felt really uncomfortable and unsafe, even though we had a security guard detail. I always try to go for a quick wander round, but not in this instance, didn't want to at all.

I thought I would feel really unsafe in Lagos, but it felt much less dangerous.
