Bring your worries over here, the Night Shift are still here to mind them

New thread here, since the Last Thread has ever so slowly filled up. Isn't it amazing how little our worries crept up in the night when the world was actually one big worry?

Pandemic or not, this is the place to just park your worries. We don't ask questions, or try to solve your problems. We just hold them, tenderly, carefully, until you are strong enough to take them back. If they choose not to come back, all the better.

Signing in for the Night Shift, V3!

Awright midnight

It is a place of peace.

🦉 owly is giving it Rootytoot (or hootytoot) outside - every so often there is a flash as he flies by.

So maybe not sooo peaceful but there is a comfort in his just being there.

I’m up and about for a while yet my friend. May I take any of your concerns to let you put your feet up?

I too cannot do the norkery pencil test. I could probably carry three days of shopping in there though.

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 15/08/2021 01:37

@SheldonesqueTheBstard Grin in my youth I was distinctly lacking in the norkage department... give it 20 (ish, to be polite) years and a few extra stone, and you could keep a litter of kittens warm and probably cook eggs and bacon under them at the same time 😂

I will pass a few worries over for the night if I can though please? Actually I can feel you soothing them even as I type.

Sometimes I see it as I express my worries into (ecologically friendly) balloons 🎈 and you lovely people fill them up and release them for

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 15/08/2021 01:37

sorry, for me that was meant to be!

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 15/08/2021 02:00

Chuck your balloons 🎈 🎈 here treacle.

I shall try and do that thigh squeeze thing to burst em for fun. (We both know that it isn’t happening with my flabby thighs!)

I’ll send them off (knowing that they will disintegrate into wildflower seeds once they hit 100ft) and your worries will morph into things of beauty - poppies, cornflowers, dog rose etc - and you will be able to contemplate your happiness in a place of gorgeousness.

It is all good so rest easy 😊

ABitOfAShitShow · 15/08/2021 10:55

Thanks for minding my worries, friends. I got quite a bit of sleep which was a lovely break from it all. This thread is the best. 😘

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 15/08/2021 22:56

Delighted you managed a sleepy abitofashitshow

Jigsaw tonight - so if you need worries jammed in together to make autumn leaves then I’m your gal.

Sleep well and dream beautiful things 🌻 x

AWonderfulNewName · 15/08/2021 23:36

This is such an awesome thing! Like magic - only real :)

I am here too to look after your worries for the night!

Treacle! God I haven’t been called that in years! Black Country? It feels like a nice warm comforting hug, so thank you so much!

Let’s not mention thighs... I’m one who could take the ‘pencil under boob’ test and fit a bloody typewriter under there Blush

I slept beautifully when I finally dropped off, thank you so much ☺️

I’m afraid I may need to request help from you lovely people for a while, but I’m more than happy to take your worries in exchange Smile

There’s a cuddley soft toy penguin 🐧 here too... he’s great at looking after worries if the rest of the pack doze off Grin

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 16/08/2021 00:09

(Pokes a toe at drowsy dog to remind them of their responsibilities)

ABitOfAShitShow · 16/08/2021 00:13

Let’s do a swap @OnceUponAMidnightBeery. I’ll smother yours in my pillow fort (seriously - I’ve got quite a pile) if I can drop my heartbreak off with you. Deal?

ABitOfAShitShow · 16/08/2021 00:13

@OnceUponAMidnightBeery Also - if you could send the dog round for a cuddle, that’d be great. Grin

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 16/08/2021 00:22

Let the penguin 🐧 take up the slack for the hound - sleepiness is catching I think and you can both nod off together which used to be my favourite naps back in the day - when I slept. I know in some circles it is frowned upon but dogs make for great comfort in the small hours.

Even though they hog quilts and pillows and give you a two inch stripe of mattress to sleep on when they go starfish 😊

One of the chaps up here is a ‘treacler’ / I’ve nabbed it. I love different terms of endearment.

So sleep midnight. No penguins here. Just the 🦉 again. If ye don’t mind the hootin, ye are in safe hands.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 16/08/2021 00:24

Sorry - too busy singing wailing tunelessly to notice the swap - sorry! 😊

Definitely Grin your heartbreak will be safe with me until/if you want to take it back. Let it go for now, it’s safe here so you can just rest Flowers

Well since you’re so very nice I’ll let you borrow him for a night... make room on your pillow because he likes to snuggle up by your head...

Thank you @SheldonesqueTheBstard, I find the hooting of 🦉 quite soothing tbh....

And yes, I’m squidged on the edge of the bed while Dterrierist and boarding border collie spredragle themselves in comfort. At least they’ll snore our worries into oblivion... maybe we can take your insomnia for a while?

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 16/08/2021 05:41

Thank you for the offer of sleep sorting midnight I’ll take you up on that in 4 hours time once I finish my shift.

I’ve a feeling I could easily sleep on the edge of the bed if it were occupied. I’m hoping to not go ‘over’ my sleepiness and end up clock watching.

The dterrierist and the dboarder will hopefully see to that! 🐾 🐾 🐾 🐾

ABitOfAShitShow · 16/08/2021 11:33

@OnceUponAMidnightBeery Thanks for the swap. I must have passed out before I could see your message about the pup! Can I have him tonight? Or just borrow him for…say…a month? Wink

ABitOfAShitShow · 16/08/2021 11:33

Hope you got some sleep after your shift @SheldonesqueTheBstard!

GenuineKlatchianPottery · 16/08/2021 21:55

I’m signing in for the night shift. Any worries, stresses or fears will be tucked in with me and the cat and sprayed with lavender.
I’ve got lovely fresh bedding on as well so they will smell meadow fresh when you collect them.

2018SoFarSoGreat · 16/08/2021 23:07

@GenuineKlatchianPottery oh that's lovely. May I partake? Not so much worries as anxiety. Mixed with excitement. Both equally making me jittery.

Am finally coming home a week today. Last time was when my mum died in early 2019. That was so traumatic I couldn't face it for the rest of that year. Then pandemic. I know, I still call it home even after 40 years away, but my daughter and siblings and extended family are all there, so much of my heart ❤️. First time no mum's wee house to stay in. That will really hurt.

All the travel covid testing is also upping my nerves. I'm so careful but still.

Anyway, if I may park that with you, I will be so grateful. If it can stay for a week that would be fabulous, but don't want to get greedy.

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 17/08/2021 02:41

@2018SoFarSoGreat you can park it all here lovely, me and the critters will mind it for as long as you need.

Your worries may be returned to you folded, mutilated and rather gnawed at the edges, but hopefully that will teach them their proper place.

I lost my Mum a few years ago. It’s taken a long time to actually deal with that loss, (I’m a bit of the ‘Sweep feelings under carpet. Nail carpet down. Glue edges. What? I’m fine’ school) Thank gods for MN!

Well that was a rambling way to say I do understand, and we’re all here to take your worries so you can rest. Just park them here and let them wander. You get some sleep.

2018SoFarSoGreat · 17/08/2021 02:43

@OnceUponAMidnightBeery thank you. Your reply made me teary eyed. I'm the same. I've not yet looked at 'stuff' - and we parked so much of it at my sister's house to 'go through' later. I suppose this is later :(

He’ll be with you in his dreams, he’s been given strict instructions! If you wake up feeling a very small terrierist licking your face (or feetHmm) you’ll know he’s there.

if you wake up to a small puddle on the quilt/mattress I deny all responsibility 🤣🤣

Bless you @2018SoFarSoGreat, there’s no good time for this. Just do as much as you can whenever you can. And be gentle with yourself, it’s tough.

Hopefully (3rd time lucky 🤞🏻) I’ll attach a pic of the JRT who will be chomping on your worries, and those of @ABitOfAShitShow whenever you need him
