Bring your worries over here, the Night Shift are still here to mind them

New thread here, since the Last Thread has ever so slowly filled up. Isn't it amazing how little our worries crept up in the night when the world was actually one big worry?

Pandemic or not, this is the place to just park your worries. We don't ask questions, or try to solve your problems. We just hold them, tenderly, carefully, until you are strong enough to take them back. If they choose not to come back, all the better.

Signing in for the Night Shift, V3!

I wonder if she could leave them near the grate? or at the top of the hill for when it rains? then they can wash away.
Absolutely. She is planning to give them a talking to also.

Have you read the Desiderata? She used to make us read that when we were out of line.

GenuineKlatchianPottery · 07/08/2021 22:44

Signing in for the night watch.
Any worries can keep my feet warm tonight while the cat snuggles them into submission.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 07/08/2021 23:09

My mum had a heart op earlier this year which was supposed to make her life so much better. Instead she lost her medium-term memory and last week was diagnosed with dementia. She's gone downhill rapidly since then.

I'm a long way away. Conversations with her are very difficult: she's now saying she won't see my dd (and thus me) again. Travel to see her is v expensive anyway, and I've just been hit with a 1k electric bill which doesn't help. (Unfortunately no mistake, we couldn't get to the meter to read it for a long time.)

2018SoFarSoGreat · 07/08/2021 23:28

@TimeIhadaNameChangel so sorry to read this. I know how hard it is to be far away at times like this. Your poor mum and poor you 💐

For now, just leave that worry here. We shall tenderly hold it so that you can rest. We shall take the best care of it all, if you just go take care of you. We've got you. Just rest now.

Can I please leave some rage? I know this is a place for worries but I’m in a new spot on the change/grief curve and I’ve never been so righteously angry. It’s all on the inside but I’d really like to let go of it for a bit as it’s bloody exhausting.

ABitOfAShitShow · 07/08/2021 23:39

*exhausting but I’m all riled up - not exactly conducive to sleep. 😬

DramaAlpaca · 07/08/2021 23:41

@ABitOfAShitShow throw that rage in my direction and I'll deal with it for you tonight. You rest easy.

2018SoFarSoGreat · 07/08/2021 23:43

@ABitOfAShitShow yes! Rage can come join the worries. Sometimes it is just the other side of worry. Perhaps even the coming out of sadness stage of worry . I hope so.

I have plenty is energy for it all, and shall shush it and squash it while you rest. Sleep. Heal. That's all you have to do. Shhhh. I've got you.

Thanks @DramaAlpaca. You’re a star.

ABitOfAShitShow · 07/08/2021 23:43

And @2018SoFarSoGreat - you are also wonderful!

2018SoFarSoGreat · 07/08/2021 23:59

It takes the whole worry squad working together, so glad to be here with the marvelous @DramaAlpaca and anyone else signing on for duty 😍

I’ve got myself into a bit of a froth tonight by worrying about biopsy results on top of the usual sack of worry I deal with. Is anyone still around to take a sack and biopsy fret for the night please?

2018SoFarSoGreat · 08/08/2021 01:02

@DidSomebodySaySiamese I'm here!

Waiting for results is the worst bit. I'm sorry you're in this spot. But whatever happens next, you need to be rested physically to deal with it. So tonight I'll hold that fear and worry for you. It's in good hands so you can just let it go. That's it. I've got you.

DidSomebodySaySiamese · 08/08/2021 01:07

Thanks so much. I’m ready to let my mind rest now.

DramaAlpaca · 08/08/2021 01:34

Here to help @2018SoFarSoGreat with that one, @DidSomebodySaySiamese. Two hands are better than one, as they say Smile

User018475022 · 08/08/2021 07:38

I didn't sleep well last night - but I learnt something new.
totally taking this thread off track but:

see. Who says watching youtube for hours isn't productive haha x

DidSomebodySaySiamese · 08/08/2021 12:10

Thanks @DramaAlpaca

I had a wobble but I’m not anticipating bad news so I’m leaving that worry to kick around on this thread day and night for 2 weeks. Besides I’m too busy working out my Korean age to worry today. Grin

User018475022 · 08/08/2021 12:59

@DidSomebodySaySiamese
2021 - DOB .. if your birthday was yesterday its plus one if your birthday was tomorrow for example it's +2
And interestingly Koreans age on new years day rather than day of birth.
It originates from them counting the months in the womb as a year so your technically a year old when your born.

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 08/08/2021 23:02

@User018475022

Well, thank you for the worry less night just after I wrote that I was fast asleep!! I think I am going to entrust YOU and your cohorts. Though, I wouldn't mind a cuddle with that Border Collie - for purely medicinal reasons you understand?
You’re very welcome! This thread has helped me so much Smile

Of course! The boarding border collie is 2 and her name is Nell... She’s strictly ours for 3 months only, so trying not to get too attached...

But she would love cuddles, even virtual ones... especially neck scritches.... scritch and let your worries go away...

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 08/08/2021 23:10

@SheldonesqueTheBstard

Your 🦜 landed on his little claws at yours 🥰
He even gets his choice of TV shows if we’re not in the living room... he likes real housewives Blush 😂
2018SoFarSoGreat · 08/08/2021 23:13

He sounds like an excellent crew member, albeit temporarily. Cat here prefers a bit of detective show, as long as it doesn't get too loud. Also radio, Radio 4 being a favorite.

Load the worries up, we are ready to take them on.

That’s fascinating! Thank you for that, it may be a new rabbit hole for me to fall into tonight Grin

Here again with the cohorts to mind, snuggle and nibble all your worries while you get some rest. Just park them here for the night.

Thank you so much to everyone who has taken care of mine, it is so very much appreciated Flowers

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 08/08/2021 23:18

midnight

I need your parrot to come on his holidays so that I have an excuse/reason to keep watching!

I’ve struggled with RHOC and RHOJ and your wee feathery mate would make it bearable - specially if he was bobbing about and getting all excited.

I’d even sacrifice my cuticles 😉

Ah! The permanent resident terrierist is a big fan of detective shows Smile Him and the 🦜 compromise on Midsommer Murders and the occasional Agatha Christie...

Boarding border collie has yet to express a tv preference. But she’s currently asleep on my feet 😍

All ready and waiting for worry minding duty Smile

GenuineKlatchianPottery · 08/08/2021 23:33

I’m also here for the night shift. The cat enjoys guarding them and keeping them corralled on the bed.
