Bring your worries over here, the Night Shift are still here to mind them

New thread here, since the Last Thread has ever so slowly filled up. Isn't it amazing how little our worries crept up in the night when the world was actually one big worry?

Pandemic or not, this is the place to just park your worries. We don't ask questions, or try to solve your problems. We just hold them, tenderly, carefully, until you are strong enough to take them back. If they choose not to come back, all the better.

Signing in for the Night Shift, V3!

Rest assured your work and MIL worries and woes provided me with comfort last night.

I am a bit lot hefty so they are now rather squashed. I’m sure you don’t want them back …

Hope you had a restful night x 🌻

May I be really cheeky? Could I possibly leave my worries now? I know it's only 710pm, but I would really love to be able to watch some Television without my mind wandering to work matters. Nothing 'wrong' as such just stressful and knackering with lots going off.

2018SoFarSoGreat · 06/08/2021 19:28

hello @User018475022 absolutely leave them here. There is no time limit - there is always a worry warrior on duty somewhere, sometime. The best bit about multiple time zone staffing (well, volunteering :))

Now you just settle down, get your feet up - maybe a cup of tea or something else of your choice, and enjoy the tv. That's all you have to do. Relax.

We've got you, and shall hold that stress and worry tightly so that it can't escape. You get the night off. Of course, if you want us to keep it for good, we'll have to feed it to the Terrierist or Cat. All is possible!

The Terriest or Cat - a choice I've never had before, can I know a bit more about each option to make an informed choice?

2018SoFarSoGreat · 06/08/2021 20:23

@User018475022 well, @OnceUponAMidnightBeery has said Terrierist (Border Collie I believe) who requires many pats and strokes as reward, then CAT is the generic (shh. They will be offended) term for ALL of the Worry Cats, who are excellent wranglers and trappers and can be relied up on to hold anything we pass to them whether we chose to or not

Or, of course, you can just put your trust in me, and my cohorts. Entirely your choice.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 06/08/2021 20:42

Or maybe…

the cat will treat the worry with the contempt/disdain it deserves and it will shrive.

The dog will lick it silly and it will shrink to half the size.

Both win. Wink

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 06/08/2021 23:09

Thank you so much @SheldonesqueTheBstard, I actually had a good night!

I’ve got a terrierist (Jack Russell with a smidge of Chihuahua) who will attack any worries, and possibly pee on them, a boarding border collie (her actual Dad is in rehab so she’s staying with us) who will lick them to death, and a 🦜 who will peck at and nibble all your problems until they wither away.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 06/08/2021 23:19

I used to have budgies midnight

They got you to do their bidding by latching on to/under your cuticles.

Obedience was instant 🦜

Grin yes, he rules the house 🤦🏻‍♀️ He doesn’t ‘talk’ as such, but has taught us parrot for a few phrases...

Thank gods it’s not just me Blush

I used to babysit a hand-reared cockatiel who would pull my earrings out of my ears and take them to his nest!

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 06/08/2021 23:38

Anyway, we’re all here to mind any worries for you, even if I drop off to sleep they will be minding them for you. @SheldonesqueTheBstard I am similarly.. erm... generous of proportion, so any worries left here might be somewhat squished Blush. Especially if I roll over on them.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 06/08/2021 23:44

Ours used to go for anything shiny left on the windowsill. It was their mission to try to manoeuvre things so that they fell behind the radiator.

Not by hook or by crook.

By beak and by claw.

I adored them. 🥲

If I accidentally filled on anything it would be a fate far worse than squished. 🥴

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 06/08/2021 23:45

Lug jewel thief though 🥰

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 07/08/2021 00:12

Grin oh I can just picture that 😂 He even pulled a stud earring out, the back was on and all!

Our 🦜 is a rescue, left in the hall and ignored in his first home because he didn’t talk, rehomed by my MIL and now lives with us. He’s amazing... I talk to him a lot, he always has an opinion Grin and he’s usually right...

I’ll stop derailing this beautiful thread now, just wanted to reassure you that your worries are in safe beaks and claws hands

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 07/08/2021 05:57

Your 🦜 landed on his little claws at yours 🥰

User018475022 · 07/08/2021 07:23

Well, thank you for the worry less night just after I wrote that I was fast asleep!!
I think I am going to entrust YOU and your cohorts.
Though, I wouldn't mind a cuddle with that Border Collie - for purely medicinal reasons you understand?

User018475022 · 07/08/2021 07:26

@OnceUponAMidnightBeery but your making the thread even more beautiful with your animal stories?

Does anybody else agree that the world is a much more beautiful place thanks to our Animals?

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 07/08/2021 07:41

Me. I agree u1847

My life has been enriched by them - more than I could ever properly express 🙂

Hannayeah · 07/08/2021 09:47

I’m visiting family (in my home state, far away from husband, house and pets) and cleaning up messes this weekend. After my brother died last year, covid came and was the perfect procrastination mechanism. But here I am, finally getting things done that have weighed on me for months. (Well, they even weighed on me while my brother was living, in the form of worries.) Yesterday was a banner day. Filed paperwork and cleaned out a storage unit. Gave away, threw away, kept very little. Sounds simple I guess but it was very emotional and very physical. I went to sleep much lighter.

But I’m going to the dump again today. I have a massive cargo van. If you have any worries I can take them. Yesterday I threw some sad memories in there and it felt fantastic.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 07/08/2021 11:12

hannayeah 🌻

I feel sometimes we can all be guilty of carrying our pain around for longer than we should. The happy memories will never weigh us down.

I admire you for managing to let go of some of your sad memories. May you forever feel lighter 🌻 x

User018475022 · 07/08/2021 12:59

@hannayeah I'm not too sure what to say here, but want to say something. Your a strong person and should be proud of yourself. May you have a really good sleep every night from now on.

Hannayeah · 07/08/2021 13:04

@SheldonesqueTheBstard
@User018475022

Thank you both.

Hannayeah · 07/08/2021 13:05

I’m going to report back tonight on my day and clock in for duty, too.

User018475022 · 07/08/2021 13:09

@hannayeah

leave your worries with me for a few hours. I'm sat under a blanket in a snuggly chair watching youtube and reading mumsnet, ill sit on them and crush them to a thousand peices.

@User018475022

Thank you! I’ve got one little worry and one big worry (though after dropping it here for several nights it’s almost unrecognizable and a plan in the works to fix it).

Currently drinking coffee and can accept worries to leave with Mom while I’m gone for the day. She said they can watch her sew a crazy quilt block, then send them outside to play for a bit, there’s a nice tree for them the sit in by her porch. If it rains she may leave them out there for a bit to get cleaned up.

User018475022 · 07/08/2021 13:57

I wonder if she could leave them near the grate? or at the top of the hill for when it rains? then they can wash away.
